The Kingdom of the Malaise (36)

Do you know why the monsters in the Kingdom of the Malaise were split into three different categories?

Well as was said, Normal monsters were just the general infected creatures that mutated under the influence of the malaise and gained greater strength then before.

They were the most common ones that just appeared wherever the malaise appeared.

The difference in status of the categories was laid bare when compared to the Elites.

The Elites of the Malaise were called elites because much the like the A rank adventurers also widely called Masters.

They gained a supernatural power unique to them that had the capability to influence the battlefield with just the appearance of one of them.

This was also followed by the appearance of a hierarchal system which meant the elites could lead swaths of malaise infected monsters to do their bidding.

Outliers like the Elite Slasher's which were solitary monsters in the first place were not needed to speak about.

When facing Elites, you weren't just facing an A rank adventurer by themselves.

You were facing an A rank Adventurer surrounded by a squadron of at the least C rank monsters.

And with a squadron being 30 people at the minimum and 500 at the maximum.

It could be seen how hard it was to take down these elite warriors with supernatural powers.

"Is it just me or are these guys losing their steam?"

A tall man with a handlebar mustache wielded giant scissors covered in copious amounts of red blood that it was a miracle that he could even hold it without it slipping out of his hands cut through swaths of monsters.

"Stop joking around dad and help me kill the monsters!"

Following the handlebar mustached man, a small girl with ridiculous bands held a giant comb much like the way one would wield a broadsword and spun around, piercing through the hides of the large enemies.

And as she quickly rebuked her father, the little girl half his height could also tell.

'They really are losing their steam, I wonder why?'

Having those thoughts, the girl stabbed the comb into the neck of a goliath and quickly sawed the furry head off its shoulders.

Making the body fall to the ground in a thud which shook the ground, she shook her head.

'No, it just means that there are no more monsters trying to kill us, be positive!"

---

The Malaise'd Interloper narrowed his eyes.

'The new accidental is...'

He glanced at the rest of his mind-controlled thralls which were not so willingly guarding him.

'Powerful to say the least.'

From all the beings that he had seen during his time on the island.

He could confidently say that the new accidental was definitely one of the most powerful.

From his near infinite stamina alongside his strange powers which seemed to warp space and time itself to bring out several weapons with incredible quality.

The combination of the battle sense that the man had was one that devastated the nearly the entire army that the interloper had hastily gathered.

Eyeing the one who had the most impact on the battlefield, the quickly lowering number of monsters couldn't just be attributed all to the new accidental however.

'That freaking old man.'

Since he had low expectations for the new accidental, he had just sent an incredible number of monsters to his general location and sent the majority of his high quality troops to the wizard.

'Who would've though he still had a card up his sleeve.'

Scratching the back of his neck, his orange gaze wandered to the gigantic crater that shook his hold on the thralls.

'It's regrettable he's dead but...'

The silver knight beneath him continually threw a silver javelin with all the force of a fully armed ballista.

'I can't believe I gained control on that silvery bastard.'

The scratches on the back of his neck intensified.

'Fate is definitely on my side.'

Smiling underneath his bandages, the man eyed the silver knight besides him acting like a turret.

However, upon observing the figure in the distance slowly getting closer step by step, his mood turned.

Watching the man tear through his quickly lowering troops, a frown visible through the bandages appeared on the mans face.

'Calm yourself, you can torture him all you want when he's your thrall.'

With barely contained fury flaming through their eyes, unbeknownst to the man, the Silver knight had a flash of clarity pass through their eyes.

"Apprentice!"

The Collector burst into a room carrying all of his iconic gear, a burning blue gaze accompanying the darkness in his hood.

"Yes Master Collector!?"

Hearing the wrathful shout, a tiny lizard like creature carrying similar equipment to his master quickly scurried out from his corner of the room while holding a pulsating blue flesh bulb.

Seeing that his apprentice was mid meal, the rage in the blue eyes rose to another level.

Quickly snatching the blue pulsating flesh, the collector shouted.

"You were supposed to alert me you fool when a big fight was occurring!"

"There's a fight?"

Dumbly tilting his head while training his gaze from his hands to the taken blue bulb, the collectors rage rose to another level, crushing the blue bulb, blue liquid burst from the pulsating piece of flesh and splattered across the stone floor.

"YES!"

Eyeing the burst bulb with slight regret, the collector flicked the skin of the blue bulb to the ground and turned their attention to the Apprentice that led to the mishap of bursting the precious food.

With blue, tangible waves of aura emanating off of his body in undulating power waves, the wrath appeared to be tangible as the collector stared at the Apprentice before spitting.

"UGGH! USELESS!"

Hurriedly stomping away, the Collector grabbed a gigantic syringe like contraption that hung on the side of the wall, wielding the giant piece of equipment with familiarity, he stomped out of the room.

"Come with me Apprentice! We need to be on the battlefield!"

Storming out of the stone room, the apprentice briefly lingered on their place eyeing the small splatter of blue flesh on the bottom of the stone ground.

"Apprentice!?"

Hearing the incredibly angry voice, the apprentice jolted out of their thoughts before grabbing a similarly large syringe and quickly ran to follow their master.

Do you know what the last category for the monsters of the malaise were?

They were Bosses.

And the monster named Conjunctivius was one such Boss monster.
