Taking Back The OverWorld [Ch. 14]

King Miraz's Kingdom

Woodlands Biome, OverWorld

The moon had set, finishing its turn for the day. The sky was still transitioning from night to day, with it slowly beginning to turn a light blue. The nocturnal animals were going to sleep, while the diuranal animals began waking. Birds chirped and flew around. Hawks and Falcons flew around in circles high above the castle.

Hiding just behind the border of the Woodlands Biome, was huge amount of blockheads. From Resistance Fighters to MineLantians to the SkyWorld Gaurdsmen, they practically had the entire Kingdom surrounded. Surprisingly, no Gaurds patrolling the exterior walls noticed the massive formation of fighters.

It was more light out than it was dark. How were remaining undetected when this close to the Kingdom? Surely they'd be able to see the catapults they had with them, but this was not the case. It's too bad they didn't see. Because if they had they would have a higher odds of winning.

"On my signal," a MineLantian Leader named Marley, said as he was facing the many blockheads behind him. He was chosen to lead in this battle because of his high rank back in MineLantis. He was noble, brave, and determined. He raised his trident straight up into the air. "Ready?"

After saying that, he turned around. Before lowering and pointing his trident straight ahead at the nearby Kingdom, he looked to his left and then to his right. There were two lower-ranked MineLantians accompanying him in this fight.

You would think that MineLantis would send a considerable amount of reinforcements to assist in the takeback of the OverWorld. However, they didn't. But they had their reasons. For those who don't know, they're fighting their own war as well; but underwater. They were fighting a brutal war against the vicious, cannabalistic sirens.

What fighters MineLantis do have, it wasn't very many. Like many others, their Kingdom is still young. But it had lots of potential to rise and become the dominant Kingdom of the Seas. That is, however, if the Sirens are defeated and put in their places.

Marley lowered his trident, tilting it forward. This was the signal he told everyone to wait on. Now that it's been given, the battle can commence.

"Charge!" He shouted as was amongst the first to run out of the forest and into the open. Everyone followed, as they all began shouting and chanting. "For the OverWorld, for the OverWorld!" They chanted.

It was their sudden appearance that snagged the attention of every patrolling guardsmen. A short distance behind the others, resistance fighters readied the catapults. Loading the bowl-shaped cup with heavy rocks. The rocks ranged in size from small to big. They used as many as they could. Once the bowl was full, they warned their fellow fighters of the launch.

"Catapults away!" He shouted.

While the battle was only just beginning outside, things back in the Castle weren't going as well as Nightmare had hoped. Her stubborn ambition to win this War was clouding her judgement and the decisions she was making.

Quintin had departed the Castle with his father awhile ago, leaving her behind to lead the Kingdom in their absence. She was so confident with her plan of winning the war, that she began shouting orders and yelling at soldiers.

"We've been instructed to keep you here in the Castle," a soldier following Nightmare stated, "for your own safety."

"Huh, what a sudden change of heart," Nightmare mumbled, "they despised and ridiculed me. But now they like me? Why do you think that is?"

The soldier shrugged his shoulders. He didn't respond to that because he didn't have an answer she'd want to hear. So, because of that, he stayed silent.

"Hmm, how loyal you are," she told him, "you can't even answer a simple question!"

As they passed by a window, she suddenly stopped walking. She turned to look out at what was going on outside. From initial revelations, the battle wasn't shaping up to be a victory for the Kingdom. How did she know that, you ask? Well, she can't predict the future. So the only answer is she's assuming. She also discovered that the Resistance was overwhelming the soldiers fighting back on the wall.

She stood by the window, staring outside at the impending doom. This was it. She refused to accept the fact that her assumptions were way off. Strangely however, she caught onto that pretty quick. Smart, Nightmare was. Slowly backing away from the window, she turned her head to look over at the guard accompanying her..saying this.

"Good luck with everything," she told him.

The lone guard was very confused on why she had said that to him. Where was she going? Wasn't she helping Miraz and Quintin? What happened to leading the Kingdom to victory? Yes, you read that right. Turns out, she wasn't everything she told Quintin about herself. In reality, she's not an entity that possess dark magic. That was one thing she had told Quintin.

Side note: we all know what happens to Nightmare. After returning to her home world in the Realm of Eternal Darkness, she wouldn't be seen or heard from since. 452 years passed before she reemerged; only that time she was more powerful. How, you wonder? Even I don't know. Anyways, she returns disguised as someother blockhead; going by the name of Nora when first confronted, she later revealed her real name to be Nightmare.

To summarize, she was defeated that time around. Even with her immense power, she still failed to become leader of the OverWorld. With her world in her past, she dreamt of rebuilding a new civilization elsewhere; which led her to where we're at now.

"Where are you going?" The guard questioned as he took a step closer to her, itching the back of his head. His emotions had took a sudden twist for the worst. From his understanding upon her arrival, she was to help win the War, right? "You can't just leave us like this. We're so close… there's a light at–," he was saying as she cut him off by shouting "SHUT UP!"

"You have no right! I'm capable of managing my own, thanks!" Nightmare continued explaining to him.

As she was doing this, a swirling black portal spawned a few blocks behind her. Keep in mind that as she's explaining her argument to him, she was slowly moving backwards towards her portal. The guard failed to realize this because he was purely focused on getting the answer to his question.

Outside, things weren't looking good. The Kingdom is suffering from devastating bombardment of rocks and boulders. The ground shook and rumbled, the floor creaked, the ceiling was starting to crumble and crack from the shockwaves of the constant impacts from the Resistance's catapults.

Soldiers were desperately trying to keep the Resistance fighters at bay, slowing their advancements. But those efforts, no matter how hard any of them tried, were failing spectacularly. What a surprise. Resistance members saw this coming, didn't they? There's a saying, yessiree there is, that refers to the bad guys always losing. How obvious this was turning out to be.

"You're violating your word," the guard mentioned, "the King won't be pleased to hear you've abandoned him."

She shrugged and tilted her head back and forth four [4] times. "Don't worry," she told the guard, "he won't be a King much longer."

After saying this, she backed into and through the portal, now on the otherside; which was her home world in the Realm of Eternal Darkness. Without saying another word, the two exchanged one last glance at eachother. Thereafter, Nightmare smiled and shook her head as the portal closed.

"Good luck," she mumbled. But the guard didn't quite catch what she'd said. The portal closed so quick, that he wouldn't have been able to ask her to repeat what she said. That's too bad. A little encouragement and support could've gone along way. But did it, you wonder? Not really, no.

As the Kingdom continued to crumble around them, elsewhere in the Plains biome, Stanley, Amelia, Melinda, Notch, and Lily were all facing the now lone EnderBrine. Amelia, however, wasn't very useful without her magical staff. Without it, she's basically powerless. In the hands of EnderBrine, he began using the staff to his advantage.

Flying around in the air, he was shooting purple orbs out of the staff's crystal. Upon obtaining possession, the crystal had turned purple. It was now glowing the same color as his eyes. Impact after impact on the ground, they were terribly aimed. That was on EnderBrine. If it weren't for his growing frustrations and anger, his aim could be better. But that thought would never make it into his head. Already occupied, he desperately needed to stay focused. One wrong move…well… he's done for. Defeated. Overthrown. Taken down. These are just some of the words to describe his situation.

Even with tensions rising, and the fear of being defeated cemented in his head, he was seriously outnumbered. Six to one. What are the odds of thse numbers changing in his favor? That's right, low and close to nothing. If anything that is…

"Remember, blockheads don't fly," Stanley shouted from behind Jack's head. Holding onto a short rope, he was gripping that rope tight. If he didn't want to fall, continuing to keep his grip was key to avoiding that.

Jack rolled his eyes and exhaled. Both of which weren't noticed by Stanley. The wind whistled and whooshed by as they descended back down towards the plains below. Coming into view, EnderBrine was seen still flying around.

Amelia and Melinda were running around, trying to keep him occupied and distracted. So far, the plan was chugging along smoothly. Much better than anticipated. So, you're probably asking yourself: "why come back to the farm anyway? Was going back all a part of their grand finale plan?"

Lily was mining away at the nether portal NetherBrine had summoned. They frayed him in, and now they were going to trap him there. With no portal in this dimension, he'd be unable to get back to the OverWorld; forever stranding him in the underworld.

Notch was standing in front of the portal. The first and only obsidian block they'd need to break was about to crumble. Small fragments of the obsidian were piling around the breaking, cracking block.

Suddenly, the portal started to warp and flicker. Something Notch and Lily had never seen before. A head, which was now burning, was starting to appear through the portal. Notch shook his head and approached.

The portal flickered and warped once again. As NetherBrine's head came all the way through, only his head though, he looked up and over at Notch.

"No, no, no!" He said as he rested his hand on NetherBrine's face.

"Get your hand—," NetherBrine's muffled voice said as Notch slowly pushed his head back through the portal.

"Notch!" Lily shouted.

He pulled his hand out just in the nick of time. He had burnt the palm of his hand, but he would be okay otherwise. Nothing that couldn't be healed with time.

"One down," Notch said as he looked over at Lily, "one to go."

EnderBrine had suddenly face planted onto the ground a short way from where Notch and Lily were standing. Both of them ran over to the crater. Lily grabbed and arrow from her quiver, loading it onto her bow. She pulled her hand back, readying herself to fire the arrow.

Then, seemingly out of nowhere, EnderBrine rolled over onto his back. He was breathing heavily and groaning in pain. His entire body ached, unable to move. He lied there for a moment to catch his breath and give himself a moment to recoup.

"EnderBrine, don't move," Lily demanded as she adjusted her stance. Notch's right hand was glowing a bright yellow. He too had it aimed down at EnderBrine. To say the least, he was prepared to blast him with a powerful beam of light if need be. EnderBrine was full of surprises, they found out.

BLOP! He just vanished. Gone! Where'd he go? Why'd he leave? Where's Amelia's staff? Behind Notch, EnderBrine appeared again, this time whispering something into his left ear. Lily turned and fired her arrow out of being startled. But her reaction wasn't quick enough. He vanished again, in turn making the burning arrow strike Notch on his upper left arm.

BOOM! CRACK! RUMBLE! Bolts of purple lightning began striking the ground from above. Oddly, the skies were still clear. Where the bolts struck, the grass began burning. The fire left in their wake spreadnig rapidly.

"Stanley!" Melinda shouted, with her hands around her mouth to amplify her voice. "Look up!"

Stanley and Jack were hovering in the air just above the crater down below. Another bolt struck the ground only two blocks away from the end of Jack's right wing. Thankfully, it didn't hit him. But he surely felt the sudden spike in heat caused by the bolt of lightning. It startled him, but he quickly moved passed it.

"Here's out chance," Stanley shouted, "take it?"

EnderBrine had one last move up his sleeve. A move that could possibly distract his opponents. If that happens, he'd be able to flee… never to be seen again [in this time period that is]. Filled with rage and anger at them for destroying the Nether Portal and trapping his son, he hoped he'd come out victorious. Is fleeing considered a victory? Or does it mean he's lost?

As a bright purple could began swirling around in the sky above, it was visibly growing bigger and bigger. Mixed in with the purple was a little black too.

"Take it," Jack responded as he began flapping his wings faster. After picking up a considerable amount of speed, Jack then started flying higher but at an angle. Stanley held on once more. As they rose up towards the spreading portal in the sky, a huge purple cloud burst out from the center of it. From inside the portal, something roared very loud. It was scary and terrifying.

From the ground, EnderBrine looked up at Jack and Stanley. He watched them as they flew closer to the his portal he'd summoned. He looked around at the ground to find the staff he had dropped after falling. But it was nowhere in sight; not anywhere around him.

Something then tapped his shoulder. Turning around, he was confronted by Amelia and Melinda. But Melinda wasn't in her blockhead form, no. Instead, she was a giant spider on the ground right next to Amelia. EnderBrine jumped and yelped. If one thing were obvious, it was that EnderBrine had a fear of spiders. Gross! But he wasn't the only blockhead. Many others were too.

"Come here!" Melinda said in a high pitched, squeaky tone. She began crawling towards him. Backing away with each step she took toward him, he held his hands out and shaking his head.

"Melinda," EnderBrine said with a faint smile on his face. He shrugged his shoulders slightly. "Let's talk this through civilly, yes?"

Melinda shook her head with her eyes closed. When she opened them, they were an all black color. Cobweb was stringing out from behind her, forming spider webs all over the ground. Without knowing it, EnderBrine had backed away into the same crater he landed in earlier.

He fell down onto his back, putting his hands up in the air above him. While looking up, he saw Stanley and Jack destroying his short-lived portal.

"Noo!" He shouted, "Stop it!"

Notch and Lily walked back over to the crater, leaning over slightly to look down into it. They were standing next to Amelia and Melinda. Melinda then transferred back into her blockhead form.

"If you even think of moving, I'll shoot you with this arrow."

"Oh please," EnderBrine said, "you're bluffing!"

"Am I though?" Lily asked.

"Accept the fact that you've lost," Notch said, "admit it. You were never going to win. You were outnumbered. To think you would come out on top, was silly thinking. Stupid thinking might I add. Now look where you are?"

"Yeah!" Amelia said as Melinda wrapped her arm around Amelia's wasit, holding her close. She rested her head on her shoulder. "You're done for. You've lost. You and your Kingdom and your son too."

"Okay, okay, okay," he said repeatedly, "fine! I'm beat. What are you going to do with me?"

"That's for Stanley to decide," Amelia said "not us," Amelia continued.

"This isn't the end, you know," he told them, "you can't banish me forever."

"We can't?" Melinda questioned, "we'll take our chances."

What a short fight this was. Very sloppy fighting on EnderBrine's part. But he could've been better if he had more backup to help him. He tried his best, but came out on bottom. After all, however, bad guys always lose, right?
