Herobrine's Suspicions [Ch. 6]

Kingdom of the Plains

Night

"I have to do this, mother," HeroBrine said, "they're my friends."

HeroBrine was preparing to leave the Kingdom to go and find Daniel and Petra. For all he knew, they could be dead. That was something that HeroBrine didn't want to think about. To ease his worries, he only thought of the patients positive outcomes.

"You can't leave the Kingdom," Carlily said, "it's too dangerous out there."

HeroBrine stopped grabbing supplies for a minute. He had his back facing Carlily. She walked over to him and wrapped her arm around his waist. They both looked at each other briefly.

"I've survived much worse than this mother," HeroBrine said, "I can handle a couple of Zombies and Skeletons."

"It's not the Zombies or Skeletons that I'm worried about," Carlily said, "it's a matter of getting out of the Kingdom. That is what I'm worried about. The Guard won't open the gates and you know that."

"Well it's a good thing I can fly, isn't it?" HeroBrine said as there was a knock at their door. Both Carlily and HeroBrine looked over at the door.

"What do they want now?" Carlily asked as she walked over to the oak wood door and opened it. When she did, Victor and another Guard were standing outside.

"Can I help you gentlemen?" Carlily asked.

"Is HeroBrine home? Scarlet has requested his presence at the Castle. She would like to speak to him," Victor answered.

"She wants to speak to him now? At this time of night?" Carlily questioned, "this matter can't wait until dawn?"

"My apologies ma'am," Victor said, "but this matter is urgent. He needs to come with us."

"Is my son in any kind of trouble?" Carlily asked.

"Not to my current knowledge, no," Victor said.

"Allow me to explain, would you Victor?" A familiar voice from behind Victor and the other Guard, said. It was Ceres.

"Carlily," Ceres said, "as you know Daniel and Petra went missing, right? Scarlet is only doing what's best for the Kingdom. She's trying to help. She just needs to talk to him. That's all."

"HeroBrine," Ceres said, "she only wants a moment of your time."

Carlily, as Ceres glanced over at HeroBrine, saw that something was odd about Ceres and Victor. They were acting strange. But what was the reason behind this?

"Fine," HeroBrine said, "I'll come with you."

"Splendid," Ceres said, "I assure you that you're not in any trouble friend."

"Yeah, right. Somehow I don't believe that," HeroBrine said.

HeroBrine closed the chest he was digging through and walked over to the door. He looked at Carlily and faintly smiled. "Everything will be okay, mother. I'll be back soon."

"Okay," Carlily said as HeroBrine walked outside. Victor, Ceres, and the other Guard all turned around and followed behind HeroBrine. They are now making their way back towards the Castle.

As HeroBrine, Ceres, Victor and the other Guard walked through the Kingdom, everyone stopped what they were doing and stared at them. HeroBrine sensed that something wasn't right. But he couldn't grasp what that problem was.

"Scarlet is only trying to help us find them. That's all she's trying to do," Ceres said.

"Would you stop telling me that? You've told me three times already," HeroBrine said as they approached the main entrance to the Castle.

Two Guards were standing on each side of the door, holding their Netherite swords in their hands. "Open the doors," Victor said as both of the guards opened the doors.

Victor, Ceres, and HeroBrine walked into the Castle. The Guard accompanying them stayed outside to relieve one guard of his duty for the day. They continued walking straight down the hallway.

"Where is Scarlet?" HeroBrine asked as he turned around to look at Victor and Ceres. When he did, he wasn't met with an answer.

"Sorry HeroBrine. No hard feelings?" Ceres said as he threw a potion of sleepiness at HeroBrine. The bottle broke, instantly making HeroBrine drowsy and dizzy.

"Why—did you—do that?" HeroBrine said as he fell asleep. He fell onto his side, now lying on the oak wood floor. Victor walked up to him and grabbed his arms.

Another guard came running over to Victor to assist him with moving HeroBrine's body. The other guard grabbed his legs. Together, Victor and him began carrying HeroBrine's body down the hallway.

Sitting in the Throne, was Scarlet. She wasn't elected Queen just yet. But it wouldn't be too much longer until she was chosen to become Queen.

"Ah, good. You've returned with HeroBrine," Scarlet said, "you can set him down in that chair right there."

"Yes madam," Victor said as they gently sat HeroBrine down in the chair. He was still sleeping. But the potion wouldn't last much longer. All Scarlet had to do was wait until he awoke to talk to him.

"You're dismissed Victor. Thank you," Scarlet said.

Victor and the other Guard turned around and walked away, heading back to their posts for the evening. The gray bubbles rising into the air from HeroBrine's body stopped. HeroBrine began waking up. Scarlet got up and walked over to him.

She began walking around the chair with her hands behind her back. HeroBrine woke up and immediately looked at her. He showed clear signs of being upset.

"Not in trouble," HeroBrine scoffed. "Right."

"You aren't," Scarlet said, "I've requested your presence here tonight because I need you to help me."

"I'm not going to help you," HeroBrine argued, "not now, not ever! Never!"

"Well that's too bad," Scarlet said as she frowned sarcastically, "because if you don't, your mother—Carlily is it?—will be executed."

"Are you threatening me?" HeroBrine asked, "if you are, you don't scare me."

"Not technically a threat. But if you want to consider that a threat, feel free to. I'm not stopping you," Scarlet said.

"I was right about you the entire time! It was you, wasn't it?" HeroBrine asked, "you're the one behind the King and Queen's disappearance!"

"Bravo, HeroBrine. I'm surprised that you figured it out so quickly. Now—here's my proposition. I want you to go out and locate Daniel and Petra. When you do find them, don't show them any mercy. They must never return to the Kingdom," Scarlet proposed.

"You want me to kill them?" HeroBrine asked.

"Oh no. I don't like doing that. I want you to send them somewhere where they won't escape. Like the Nether for example," Scarlet said, "isn't that where they banished your father?"

"He was never my father. I was brainwashed into believing he was though," HeroBrine responded.

"Uh huh. Right. Anyways, if you don't help me, you know what'll happen then," Scarlet said.

"Do whatever you must. I will never help you!" HeroBrine said.

"That's too bad. I guess I'll just have to force you to comply," Scarlet said, "I'd hoped it wouldn't have had to come to this. But you've left me with no other choice."

"Whatever you're trying to accomplish here, you'll end up losing," HeroBrine said.

Scarlet reached into her inventory and grabbed out a glass bottle. Only this time, the liquid was black. She turned around to look at HeroBrine. He saw what she was holding in her hand.

"That's how you're going to make me comply?" HeroBrine asked, "is with that potion?"

"Oh yes. You see HeroBrine, this potion is like no other. Instead of helping the blockhead that takes this potion, it actually makes them comply," Scarlet explained, "I created it myself. I call it the potion of mind control."

"You're going to lose. What happens when everyone in the Kingdom finds out your true intentions? What will you do then?" HeroBrine asked.

"Either feed them to the hungry mobs just outside those walls, or give them this potion. I have enough potion available to distribute amongst the entire Kingdom," Scarlet proclaimed.

"I'm not taking that potion," HeroBrine said.

"You won't have to drink this," Scarlet said, "all I need to do is throw it at you. And that's exactly what I'm going to do!"

She threw the glass bottle at HeroBrine. It hit him, breaking open upon impact. The black liquid got all over him. Black bubbles began rising into the air from his body. Scarlet put her hands behind her back and waited.

HeroBrine struggled to maintain control over his body. He tossed and turned, eventually stopping. He put his head down.

It's working, Scarlet thought.

"I have a mission for you, HeroBrine," Scarlet said.

HeroBrine slowly raised his head. He gazed at Scarlet, awaiting his first mission details. His eyes, instead of being all white, were entirely all black.

"I'm ready to comply," HeroBrine said.

"Good," Scarlet said as she grabbed a map out of her inventory. She walked over to HeroBrine and gave him the map, "X marks the spot. Go there. That's where I left Daniel and Petra. When you do, don't hesitate to engage. Do you understand?"

"I do," HeroBrine said as he looked down at the map, getting an accurate picture of where Daniel and Petra were at. They were very far away. Only a three day trip from here.

"Good," Scarlet said, "you're free to go."

HeroBrine got up from his chair and began walking away. Scarlet smiled as she turned around and walked up three steps. She took her seat again in the chair.
