Minecraft: Reincarnated into the Kaizo Caverns

In a dimly lit cave, a young man stirs and stands up. He looks out from the small grotto into a wider, dark and seemingly forlorn cavern. In the distance, he hears...bones rattling? Samuel Howard looks around dazedly, until he spots a very old, faded sign. He manages to read 'Welcome to the Lonely Lava Cavern' before cursing furiously at this twist of fate. "When I said I wanted to reincarnate into Minecraft, I didn't mean it like this!"

Tutor me, System!

[Back to the Present:]

As Samuel was considering his options and next line of approach, the system pinged.

[Tutorial Quest Chain(1): Taking Inventory]

{Description:}

- As the host is new to this hostile environment, and has no prior experience, the tutorial function has been opened. This tutorial quest chain will give you a brief overview of the systems capabilities and how to survive in the Kaizo Caverns. The goal of this quest is to open your inventory. Your 'Inventory' is a personal pocket dimension(Abbreviated as PPD) invented by Goblin Grand Artificer Kazko. The PPD's coordinates are randomly scrambled periodically to ensure against theft.

- Items before being placed in the main pocket dimension will be placed in a small intermediary pocket to determine if it there are any tricks on it, including but not limited to the capability or attempt to track the main pocket dimension. 99.999% of personal pocket dimension owners never experience theft of their belongings when using this miraculous device! It's size will increase alongside you as you level up(increase in strength) with no maximum size. Perhaps one day, you can store an entire mountain in your Inventory!

{Tips:}

- Think in your mind 'Inventory'.

{Completion Requirement(Unfulfilled):}

- Open your Inventory.

{Reward:}

- +3 Meters squared to your Inventory pocket dimension. -

Sam grinned, finally relieved that the system was offering some benefits for once. Samuel thought 'Inventory'. A panel appeared in front of him showing his current possessions. There was a button at the top right with 'Crafting' written on it. On the left of it he saw a small booklet, that when popped open showed recipes that he can craft with various options to fiddle with it. In the top middle, he saw a button named 'Status'.

He saw that there was two boxes to the right of the inventory panel that can be controlled with the mind to do various poses. One is what he is currently wearing, and the other he can pose to do various things. He asked and the system said the frame on the right can be used to equip items to see what he'll look like wearing them before putting them on. He liked that quite a bit, how thoughtful! He took out a loaf of bread and a bottle of water then completed the task.

{Reward: +3 Meters squared to your personal pocket dimension!}

Sam watched as the pocket dimension shown in the gray panel at the bottom was covered over by a dense purple fog, before appearing again a few moments later having doubled in size. His current inventory space is 6 meters squared. Soon he received another quest for opening his status, that automatically completed as he had done it earlier.

[Quest Complete!]

{Reward: +1 Willpower.}

- Tips: Willpower is a hidden stat, and cannot be increased via attribute points. -

- Remarks: With the System, you are Invincible! -

The corner of Sam's eyes twitched, cursing the System's shamelessness as he remembered how it handed him a loaf of bread to defend himself against a rotting starved carcass. He resolved himself to not rely too heavily on the system. He finished eating then opened his status again, to confirm whether or not his hunger and thirst went up the exact amount as described. It did. He noticed though that his experience bar was still 0/10. "System, why haven't I received experience for killing that Zombie?"

[System: "In order to obtain experience, you must do at least 50% of the enemies total health in damage. Slain enemies will drop whatever they are carrying, and will sometimes drop special items generated by the system. The items do not appear in your inventory but stay on the corpse of defeated foes and must be collected by hand.}

{In this case, the Zombie did not drop any items at all nor had anything in its possession. Any items that would have dropped fell into the Magma. Furthermore, host, whatever the enemy is carrying can be looted but special drops from the system will not be generated upon environmental kills.]

Sam rubbed his chin, feeling that its rather fair. "System, is there a function to confirm an enemies death?"

{There is no such feature.}

"Really?" Sam was very surprised. Almost every system has such a feature. Sam didn't bother to ask why or scold the system. Protagonists that scold the system never end well. Whether it is an old wily thousand year old demon raising him up to take over his body or a truly impartial system, neither mind blooding the main characters nose if he dares to bite the hand that feeds them. He stood up, looking towards the entrance as the Tutorial Quest chain came to an end. He accepted the reward for completing it.

Sam stood up, gripping his Mighty Signboard in his hands. He took a deep breath, with his eyes closed. He let it out slowly, opening his eyes. 'It is do or die, there is no try here.' He thought, as he walked out of the small grotto into the wider cavern. His determined face illuminated by the red glow of flowing magma and the pale yellow light emanating from the glowstone embedded in the ceiling. He stopped, turning around to put 3 pairs of the Leather Pants he found earlier in his inventory while equipping one before returning to the edge of the cliff where he knocked the zombie into magma.

"Lonely Lava Cavern, here I come!"
