Ethan panted, sweat dripping down his face as he faced the relentless mutants. He'd managed to cut down almost all of the fiery Phantoms, leaving just one circling above.
"Almost there," Ethan muttered, gripping his sword tightly. He braced himself, watching for an opening to strike the final Phantom. The air was thick with the heat and smoke of battle, his lungs burning with each breath.
The last Phantom let out a high-pitched screech and fly down toward him. Ethan adjusted his stance, ready to end this, but before he could strike, something unexpected happened. The Wither Mutant—no, he couldn't even call it a skeleton anymore. In a blink, it extended one powerful hand and snatched the Phantom from the air.
"What...?" Ethan's eyes widened as he watched the mutant lift the struggling Phantom. The creature didn't hesitate, crushing the Phantom in its grasp, then eat it.
Ethan gritted his teeth, raising his sword. "That's enough!" he shouted, dash forward to land a blow. But as he brought down his blade, the mutant took a step back, eyeing him with a strange, almost calculating look.
The mutant let out a low, rumbling sound, something between a laugh and a growl. Then, without warning, it erupted in a fiery explosion, sending Ethan tumbling backward. Dust and smoke filled the room, and Ethan struggled to regain his footing, coughing as he pulled himself up.
When the air finally cleared, Ethan's heart skipped a beat. In front of him stood a figure no longer resembling the monster he'd been battling just before. Just now It was... human-like but dont have ajy vitality or sign of life but now.... its Taller and broader than any man, with jet-black hair and piercing red eyes. Dark, muscle covered its form, and its skin had an eerie, dark tone that made it almost blend into the dark room.
Ethan's grip on his sword tightened. "fuck"
The creature looked at him with a faint smirk, something almost human yet hauntingly wrong.
Ethan took a step back, his mind racing. The strength, the speed, the intelligence in its gaze… this creature was like Vampire what he'd fought before.
The mutant—no, this being—said nothing. It only looked at him silently. Without another word, the figure spread what looked like massive, dark wings, their edges rippling with a faint, eerie glow. With a single, powerful beat, it sent waves of dust and debris scattering, breaking the walls of the room apart.
Ethan threw up his arms to shield himself, feeling the raw power as the creature lifted off the ground. Stones cracked and crumbled under the force, the entire chamber starting to collapse around him.
Through the roar of destruction, Ethan could only watch as the creature soared through the fractured ceiling, disappearing into the darkness beyond. But then he heard although its weak...
"Thank you human"
Stunned, he stood in the remnants of the room, debris falling all around him. He didn't know how long he stood there, processing what had just happened.
"what.... was that?" he whispered, more to himself than anyone else.
