D I A N E

Viktor's words hung in the air, the silence deafening. Everyone turned to look at me, their eyes filled with disbelief and confusion. I felt like a deer in the headlights, frozen and unable to speak. My throat felt tight, my heart pounding in my chest. Viktor's words was like a punch to the gut.

"What is he talking about, Diane?" Isaak's voice was soft, his eyes searching my face for answers. I could feel the tears pricking at my eyes, but I forced them back. I had to be strong, had to remain calm. I couldn't let Viktor get to me.

"You didn't tell him?" Viktor's tone was mocking, his words dripping with sarcasm. "Don't," I warned, my voice low and threatening. I couldn't let him see how much his words affected me. "Don't what?" Viktor taunted, his eyes boring into mine.

"Don't play games with me,"

"Oh, Isaak," Viktor sneered. "I'm sure she hid this from you, just like she did with the pregnancy. She had one mission, and one mission only." His gaze was fixed on me now, and I could feel the weight of his words pressing down on me. "The moment she heard about your marriage, she couldn't stand the thought of you marrying another woman, so I called her to my house," Viktor said, his voice low and venomous.

"I offered to cancel the wedding," he added, a triumphant look on his face. I felt like the floor had dropped out from under me.

"Everybody, leave." Isaak said lowly, looking at the guests that were gathered outside. "I said leave," He rose his voice and  a fear gasps could be heard as they began to leave but Isaak didn't care.

When the coast was clear, Isaak looked over to me. I couldn't tell if he believed everything Viktor just said- not that it was a lie but

"I didn't accept the deal  if that's what you're wondering," I said. "It doesn't matter whether you accepted it or not, you still went," he replied, his tone low and accusing. I felt like I'd been punched in the gut. "You knew he wanted more than just to talk, but you still went to see him." I was speechless.

"You're right, but I didn't know what else to do," I finally managed to say. "You could have talked to me," Isaak said, his voice tight with anger, I nearly chuckled.

I couldn't believe this, I could've spoken to him?

"Talk to you? Lord knows how mnay times I've tried," I say. "You're the same guy who-"

"The same guy who stole the adolescent years of your sister?" he spat, taking the words right out of my mouth but they cut me to the core. "You think that's all I am, right?" I felt sick to my stomach. "That's the only thing that helps you sleep at night, isn't it?" His voice was harsh, and I could see the anger building in his eyes. I could feel the anger rising in my chest, my pulse pounding in my ears.

"Don't you dare say that to me," I hissed, my voice shaking with emotion. "You know how much I care-"

"What is it that you want? To take revenge on me, kill me? Tell me what it is! I'm right here, take all your anger out. "

"I want you to marry Yulia." It was like I had just told him his mother was dead. But I wanted him to feel, I wanted him to feel what I felt at this moment. It wasn't healthy but he was hurting me and I was just being selfish.

He chuckles, clearly in disbelief.

"So Luka really has you under his spell, huh? You're right where he wants you, and you're just making his job easy. Despite everything that's happened, you're still obsessed with revenge because you know I'll never be happy with her." His words stung, but I tried to remain calm. "I'm not obsessed with revenge," I said, struggling to keep my voice even.

"I just want to move on with my life." He scoffed. "With the father of your child I suppose?" He said it like it was joke.

"When you realize what type of person he is, I don't want you coming back. I don't want to hear you critize me. When he touches you, I hope you think of me. When he tells you he loves you, I want you to remember you're my everything, mine only." He cups my cheek and I instinctively close my eyes. "You're the only woman in my life and you're his obsession; his prop just to hurt me. But you know what's funny about that, that you're letting him. You see right through it all but somhow blinded by lies," I blink.

"You know what it is with you," He says. "You believed the first guy you've seen after me and you take him. You want me to listen to you but you never  hear me out. You act like you're the victim but you're the one that's killing me on the inside. All these years, I did all of this for you."

His eyes seem to back up everything he's saying, and his hands feel warm against me. It's hard not to tell him everything, to let him in on the secrets that I've been keeping. But even if I did, would it change anything?

"I didn't ask you to."

"Clearly."

"God knows why you're doing this, but I hope you realize before it's too late." He backs away. The spot where his hand lied was cold and I felt empty on the inside. I wanted nothing more than to get a whiff of his cologne,  for us to collide skin to skin and share a kiss.  I wanted nothing but to know that I was in his arms and no one could do anything but it was too late.

"No matter what you do, you'll never stop loving me and hell, I know I won't be able to do so  as well."
