There was a knock, then the door opened. Elora peeked inside. “Hi.”
“Hi.”
“How are you doing?” Smiling softly, she closed the door behind her.
“I’m okay.”
She crossed her arms over her chest. “You’re coping living with Jaecar?”
He shrugged. “He has a nice home, but he’s too…intense. I think he means well.”
“Of course, he does.”
“Have you seen him shift?”
“Not all the way, no.” Elora shook her head. “You have?”
“It’s amazing.”
She grinned.
“He’s crazy, though.”
She tilted her head to the side. “How’s so?”
Eli grimaced. “He says I’m his mate.” He sent her a pleading look. “I can’t be.”
Her joy flooded him, and her eyes got so wide he wished he hadn’t said anything.
“He did?” Her voice wasn’t more than a whisper.
Eli nodded.
“My God, that’s…awesome. I’m so happy for you!” She rushed over and wrapped her arms around his neck, almost toppling the chair over.
“What? Why?”
“You have a shifter mate. What else could you ever wish for?”
