Chapter 13: DINNER GO WRONG

Erickson Pov 

Josh am sure my father will call you and when he does just tell him am in the theater room performing a major surgery and I won't be home till morning. And why do I need to lie, oh Josh I told you, am going for a dinner to evade my father's business dinner. Okay no problem I will do as you say, you know I always gat you.

How do you intend to dress for the dinner without going home, I sort that out already, our butler will soon be here with my necessities, alright I will leave you to prepare then am on the night shift and I have a lot to do, so good luck with the dinner. Thanks buddy.

It wasn't long when the butler came with my clothes and all, after dressing up, I went out to find her driver waiting for me. Welcome sir, I will take you to Miss Bernard sir, thank you. Not long we arrive at the house,  Hmmm it a mansion, impressive one at that.

I saw someone standing at the front door, rubbing heat Into her body due to the night air, I step out of the car, using my right hand to adjust my tie, looking up, there she is in a long wine gown, fitting perfectly on her body, it was as if she was born with the gown, omg those curves, I open my mouth to talk but I don't know what to say. 

 Honestly have never been short of words, I know am drooling right now but I can't help it, Eric you need to say something you can't just stand here opening your mouth like a fish in need of air in the water. Okay here we go, I didn't fail to notice that she was also staring at me.

 Words failed me Miss Bernard but I must say, You have just taken my breath away for the first time in my entire life, I reply taken a fast stride towards her. Here, I off my jacket and put it on her shoulder, you must be cold. Thank you doctor....no please my name is Erickson, you can call me Eric.

Okay Eric, shall we go in, she lead me through a corridor leading to the banquet hall, please take your sit here, she point towards a table at the far end of  the hall opposite to a long table, I guess that where the dignitaries are sitting. Taking my sit, am face to face with her friend.

Good evening, I greeted her, hello doctor, please dear it Eric, and what's the name again I don't grab it earlier at the hospital I ask her. It Evelyn she replied. It nice meeting you again Evelyn, I said shooting my hand forward for a shake, same here Eric she said taking my hand.

Evelyn please I hope you don't mind keeping Eric's company for a while, you know am meant to sit over there, Mina said pointing to the large and long table with two empty sit. Maybe it for her and her boyfriend, Eric I think you stand no chance.

Sure why not, I will be glad to keep his company while you attend to important matters, I will join you soon Eric, okay Miss Bernard. Just call me Mina, oh I wouldn't be disrespectful to someone taken and in a relationship I said politely, I wouldn't want your boyfriend thinking am too formal with you especially now that we just met.

Excuse you, Evelyn said bursting Into a fit of laughter and where did you get that idea from, for your information my friend is so single and desperately searching. Will you stop that, please don't mind her she said eyeing her friend, am single but not searching less searching desperately.

Pardon my manners Mina, it no problem, Evelyn mind your speech while am away do not say what you are not suppose to, she said striding away gracefully to the large table, honorably taking her sit. Our attention is brought to a man standing up, to welcome us to the dinner. I presume he's the man of the house.

Why is everyone welcoming their daughter, urgh I said rolling my eyes when the man finish his speech, wait wait...... that name Elizabeth Bernard, is that not the name on the invite my father gave me. Mina Bernard, omg is it the same Bernard that we are having a business deal with soon.

Shit, shit, shit, I have to leave now before my father see me. There is no need to confirm this because that man Bernard just introduce my father and mother to the audience. Evelyn something urgent came up I think I need to leave now. Are you sure because I don't see you receiving a message or a call now, wait don't you find my friend attractive.

Ofcause I find her attractive but this is not about your friend, I really have to leave now. And here I am thinking am going to be a matchmaker and have you and her get along she said more to herself than me. Okay you can't just leave, I will inform Mina so she can see you off.

No need about that I will just take my leave silently, and how do you think she had feel when her guest leave without informing her, let's go and tell her you are leaving. Evelyn said grabbing my hand leading me towards the table now filled up with her and her sister beside her. This is not what I expected coming here I said to myself lowering my head to avoid been seen by my father and mother.

Mina, Evelyn tap her shoulder, Eric says he's leaving, why Eric are you not enjoying the evening, please don't be angry, I mean I invited you here am suppose to sit with you just give me some minutes and I will join you okay. Am really in a tight corner what do I do now, no Mina that's not it, the thing is I have an emergency at the hospital so.......

She look alarmed standing from her sit hastily, I shouldn't keep you then, I will walk you outside and have Lawrence drop you off, excuse me I will just see my guest off, she said taken permission from the people on the table. I do not look up still bowing my head so low. Why don't you introduce your guest to us, or don't you want us to know your boyfriend. A cool but cold voice said.

Yes Mina introduce your guest, her father Mr Bernard voice out. Okay mom, Dad, this is Erickson my...........she turn to find me bowing my head, Eric are you okay, is something wrong, can you please raise your head am Introducing you. I have to leave now,  I said turning on my heels.

And where do you think you are going, stop right there Erickson Daniels, my father's voice boom throughout the room. I stop as if am compelled by his voice. Erickson so this is it, you have a secret girlfriend that we do not know about, we invited you to the dinner you refuse but you come when she does, the old guy was saying when Mina cut him short.

Mr Daniels I think you are misunderstanding things, you just wait dear he silent her, son raise your head and face your father, Father?! she and Evelyn repeat the word. I think I have no hiding place again I said raising my head up to look at my father. Father oh you are here I didn't notice I said. Hun he said knowing am only faking it.

He face the people on the table, this is my first son Erickson, he said pointing to me, I greeted everyone on the table. But I taught you said he can't be here due to something important Mina's mother reply, I am as surprise as you are, obviously coming here to see his girlfriend is just as important he said laughing it off.

This is good news I heard Mr Bernard, you know I was planning on having one of my daughters marry your son, really my father boom into a big smile I was also going to propose that, who could have taught that he has a relationship with your first daughter already, my mother said happily.

I can see Mina face palming herself with the misunderstanding of us been in a relationship. When did you guys meet my mother ask pulling a chair for me to sit and how long have you been in a relationship. They have met for a while only trying to take things slow,  Evelyn reply bailing us out on any explanation. I guess there's nothing to talk about again then the two men said smiling at each other.

Am glad to be your in-law my mother said to Madam Bernard, yes me too she reply,.........did she just force that smile or am I seeing things, I shrugs it off I must have imagined it. The dinner continues smoothly with the two men calling themselves inlaws already. I look at Mina to find her staring at me, I honestly don't know what's going on in her head right now.

Mina and her father see us out to our car after the dinner, thanks for hosting us, I said we had a nice evening, thank you for coming Mr and madam Daniels Mina reply facing my mother. Oh dear now you have to call me auntie okay and after your wedding you can call me mother. I ... She open her mouth but didn't say anything.

Mom you have to give her time, don't mind her okay, we will take our leave now, I hope to see you soon, I said opening the car door for my parent. Hm she reply, good night, good night. The car turn around to leave the Bernard premises when I notice a figure standing on the second floor of the house looking down at us or will I say at Mina.

I couldn't shake off the feeling of not been comfortable with the way the person was staring at her. Trying to see who it was the driver drove out of the  house.
