Take you home

For the last minutes which I couldn't remember because I wasn't looking at the watch or my phone to check the time, Matt and I were talking the whole time. He was funny which I did not expect because I was scared to get to know him better. Also, Natalie told me not to contradict him because he might find me challenging. So to avoid him in a good way I had to talk to him and spend my entire time here at the wedding speaking to him.

But he wasn't so bad after all. He was making me laugh the entire time. Although there are a lot of people around us, I was not shy to be myself with him. He seems to be enjoying watching me laugh too. Which I did not find awkward anymore. And I noticed him watching me closely as I speak, though before I don't like it when people are looking at me like that.

We seemed to get along. I felt bad for judging him earlier.

"I had no idea that you could be this funny." I blurted out. But to be honest, it is my first time encountering such a human being that is so bright, funny, open-minded, and good-looking too. And as I look into his eyes sincerely, it was not emerald but it was the same color as my eyes like the blue ocean. But the difference is his iris are dilated.

"Why? What did you think of me as?" He smiles and I can feel my face heat up.

"I certainly wasn't anticipating anything. You looked serious from afar and I was a total bitch to you earlier" I wasn't expecting my mouth would say those words out loud.

"So you were watching me from afar" He catches that word.

Shit.

I think I should stop drinking this tasty wine. Now that he thinks I was watching him which was a bit true but I know he was watching me too. I could die in embarrassment right now.

So I took another sip of my wine.

I need to think of a good reason as to why I was watching him. However, instead of thinking of a better reason I winked at him and took a sip of my wine again.

The wine tasted even better this time or maybe this is why I am so upfront because of the effect of the wine on my body. It made me feel more confident in telling him the truth.

He grins like he wasn't expecting that and he was about to say a word but luckily, Natalie came from behind, calling out for me, I suppose.

She is my lifesaver even though her timing is sometimes not in the good time. She saved me from an awkward situation. "Hey, Mila and Matt. What are you guys doing?" But her questions are sometimes inconvenient. Although I heard Matt say something, I didn't hear it clearly because the music was loud.

Natalie's still waiting for us to say something.

"It's obvious that we are just talking, Natalie," Matt answered defensively.

"I can see that. And I warn you, if you think you can break my friend's heart, you will surely taste my fist." She expanded her fist, showing Matt how serious she was and I reach out to her hand because I don't want the conversation to be more awkward than it was already. Why would she think Matt would do that to me? It's not like I'm dating him. We were just talking.

"Don't worry Natalie, she is in good hands." He sincerely answered.

I got tempted to look at him after he answered Natalie and was surprised that he was already looking at me. And to be honest, I am speechless for the first time. He gave me a slight wink and I felt my face heating up again. Maybe my face is turning tomato red.

"It better be or you won't be able to see your hands anymore." I don't know why she said that but she's being barbaric. And I think that's my cue. Natalie is drunk and I can tell because she's being barbarian in her words and she's not like that. She is sweet, kind, and gentle to animals, and also to boys. Especially to the boys. So this Natalie right now is not the Natalie I know. I need to save her from making a scene that she will surely regret tomorrow.

"Alright, I think it's time for us to leave." I stand from my seat and Matt follows. I grab Natalie's shoulder gently and stand beside her. "I need to speak to my sister and tell her that we are going home" I look around the place and it was still crowded but when I was speaking to Matt it seems everything has disappeared, "It was nice meeting you, Matt." I noticed his composure has changed. Earlier he was relaxed and funny but this time he looks nervous and serious.

"Mind if I take you home?" He offers and I was speechless. Again for the second time. I don't know why I become speechless. I am used to guys offering me a ride but to him, it is something else.

We stare at each other for as long as I know and I felt different when I'm looking into his eyes. His eyes are trying to tell me not to leave yet, but I must because Natalie is drunk.

But before I could say something, my friend here answered for me, "Nope, we can manage. I know your style, Matt. You can't do that to her." She warns. She surely knows Matt so much. I think the right word for what she is doing is cockblocking.

"I mean I have a car. I can take you guys to your place in safety. In that way, I will feel at ease that both of you got home with no harm." He explains. It is so kind of him to offer us a ride. Plus, I did not bring my car either, and taking a cab might be inconvenient in Natalie's situation.

So I say, "Why not?"
