You're Alive?

Chapter 14

Ashley stretched her body as she sat on the lawn.

A while ago, she had worn her flowery gown to leave for the hospital and had been stopped by the guards; saying that they were ordered not to let her leave the house.

She sighed, stretching her body on the mat that had stretched to the part that connected with the kennel.

Opening the kennel, she whistled to one of the puppies and it ran towards her.

It looked cute and happy as she rubbed its fur.

It was already evening and she was still waiting for him.

He had talked about war and although she hated him to the core, she was not an evil person to want him dead.

She frowned, seeing that the puppies had no mother, and no one to take care of them.

Where are they training to be security dogs?

She stood up, dropping the puppy and going to one of the guards.

"Where is their mother?" She asked, pointing to the puppies.

The guard looked towards the kennel and scratched his head.

"Boss killed it, for causing a ruckus after it gave birth."

"What? How could he? That Son of a biscuit!" She hissed, going back to the kennel.

Did he kill animals too? They were harmless creatures that wanted nothing but love.

The guard scratched his head more, wondering what that meant. That was the first time he was hearing such words.

'Son of a Biscuit?'

Ashley walked into the house and prepared healthy milk, putting it into the bowl, he headed to the cage but was stopped by the same guard.

"Ma, we were asked not to give them food for three days. They are not pets but for security." He said, and she hissed.

"I'm feeding them, tell that to your Boss." She said and walked to the kennel.

The guard stood wondering what to do. There was no way he'd fight the Boss's wife over puppies?

She crawled into the kennel and dropped the bowl of milk on the ground close to where she had sat.

Watching the little puppies walk to the bowl and take a sip made her smile widely.

"Aren't you the cutest little thing?" She chuckled, rubbing the one with furs.

"Ma'am, it's about to rain." She heard a guard say.

Ashley didn't want to leave them there.

If she could take them inside, she would be the happiest person of the day but she knew it was impossible.

"Can I take them inside?" She asked, trying if they would say yes.

"Huh, Ma'am?'

"You heard me right? can I take them inside, just to the balcony close to my room?" She asked again, peeking her head out of the kennel and staring at him.

He nodded, unsure of what to say.

"Really? Thank you so much." She mumbled, grabbing the bowl and pouring the milk away.

The puppies bark their little barks out of displeasure and she chuckled, picking them up and placing them in the bowl.

They would get plenty more milk.

They were four and she loved their cuteness, as they stared at her.

Running into the house, due to the rain that had begun to pour down she clutched their bowl tightly using her body to cover them from the rain.

"Aha, here we are." She mumbled, going up the stairs with them in the bowl.

Ashley knew he wouldn't like the puppies out of the kennel but she was trying her luck.

Dropping them at the balcony of her room, where the rain could not meet them..she dropped another bowl of milk and they began to lick again.

She didn't know how long she had remained there with them but the sky had begun to darken.

"You're not supposed to be here." She heard the voice she had been long expecting to say.

She turned and he was at the door of the balcony, shielding it as he stared at her.

"This is my room, I'm supposed to be any way close." She answered.

He was not smiling, nor did he look happy.

He had that serious face that told her how wary she should be of the man.

"You're alive." She said, standing up.

"You wanted me dead?"

"I'm not a monster like you. I don't want someone dead."

"You wanted me dead. You said I could go die and you didn't give a damn." He said, as if tired.

He walked away from the balcony door and into the room.

Thank God, he didn't see the puppies.

She followed him and he smirked, taking out his shirt.

"What are you doing?"

"About to sleep."

"And why are you about to sleep here?" She asked, and he frowned.

"It's my house."

"It's my room and also my house." She said as well and he chuckled, climbing the bed.

"You can't sleep here."

"Yes, I can and I'm doing so right now."

"You're an ass."

"I don't have the strength for that right now." He said and she huffed.

"Get those puppies out of there before Dawn." He said, closing his eyes.

"You're dirty, take a bath."

"I did at the basement."

"What basement? Where do you kill people and toss their bodies to the dam?" She asked, and he opened his eyes, cocking a brow and she shrugged.

"You question too much."

"You answer too much."

"Are we going to keep doing this? Powerful?" He asked, and she shrugged.

"Depends if you think you own me?" She said, going to the couch.

"The puppies. Out. by morning and I own you, Ashley Mazza." He said again and she hissed.

Ashley Mazza? That was never going to sink into her head!

"They are okay here, I'm not going to take them away. They are not just fit for Security. I like them. Let me take care of them." She said, and he chuckled.

"You're asking?" He turned to her.

"Yes." She answered.

"Just for five days, they'll be going to where they would be trained harder." He said and she frowned.

"Harder? Why? They're not soldiers."

"Don't you want to keep them for five days? I can make it one day." He said and she hissed.

"You are not a man of your words."

"Careful what you speak."

"And what did I say?" She asked back and he sighed, turning around and wincing.

She turned to him and frowned, heading to the light.

She switched it on and gasped.

"What happened to you?"

"I went to war. When you go to war you get injured." He said nonchalantly.

"Has it been treated?"

"Don't tell me you're worried?" He chuckled.

"Why?"

"Could have fooled me!"

"Ho! Ho!" The little puppies barked and he hissed.

"Get them to stop." He gritted his teeth.

"Go to your room." She replied.

Standing up, he walked out to the balcony and grabbed one of the puppies tossing them out of the balcony to the lawn.

"What the heck are you doing?!"
