"Ella, this stick is good. But the one you made on my birthday was better..." Xavy spoke with his mouth chewing on the piece of steak that Elora was now feeding him.
Elora, wipped the corner of his mouth, with a tissue and said, " It is called, 'steak'."
Xavier looked at her with his big confused eyes and then said, "That's what I said. Stick."
Elora smiled and shook her head. She was about to say something when she heard a familiar voice. "Ella!"
When she turned towards the sound, she saw a beautifully dressed Lucy walking towards her.
Lucy had walked towards her with much enthusiasm, but as soon as Elora turned towards her, Lucy paused.
A pure, disappointment and jealousy like something flashed through her face. She deeply inhaled then exhaled and then blinked twice. Elora was looking remarkably breathtaking today. And that was not expected by her. It was not because of any other reasons but because Elora knew very well that she has been liking and admiring the prince since a very long time. And though, Elora was quite a times pampered by the royal family but on asking her she always used to say that, she never looked at the Prince that way.
So what happened today? Did she change her mind and now want to be the Queen by marrying the prince?
Because, the way she looked, any man in his senses would choose her. She took the limelight today. And of that was the case there was nothing she could do, but accept her bitter situation.
Then Lucy blinked and adjusted her expression. But the shine in her eyes were gone.
Elora saw Lucy coming to her, and she politely nodded her head and complimented, "You look pretty." On hearing this, Lucy smiled and said "Is it? Thank you. But I am sure not more than you."
Elora shrugged and concentrated back on feeding Xavier, who was staring at the new sister that joined them. She spoke the truth. This sister was pretty but not more than Ella!
"Beauty, is a strange thing. They don't lie when they say it lies in the eyes of the beholder. It is mostly for the first impression. One can doll up all they want, but if the one seeing it, you are nothing but a prettily dressed up mannequin. But if the person seeing you has a good feeling for you, even your scars will add up to your beauty in their eyes. "
Lucy looked at her and frowned, then slowly asked, "Did it mean anything for me?
Elora looked at her and said, "I was just stating facts." Lucy nodded and took a place beside them. "You look gorgeous today." she said.
Elora smiled and said, "Thank you."
"So gorgeous, that I am so jealous of you."
Elora smiled hearing this. " There is nothing to be jealous. You tell me what is good in me being so, when half of the population here hates me for it. But it doesn't matter. I have dressed up for myself not for any other. "
Lucy looked surprised and she said, "I thought you dressed for the Prince. Because half of the maidend here, including me , have done it surely. And when I saw you, I thought that you changed your mind and decided you go behind the Prince. And of you do so, I hate you, really. "
Elora rolled her eyes and said carelessly, "Who wants the Prince? You can keep him to yourself."
Though Elora personally didn't like the social attention, but thay didn't mean that she did not maintain her social circle. And among all the girls she knew, Elora felt more comfortable with Lucy. Though, she knew Lucy didn't hold their acquaintance in a very high regards and was somewhat self centred, but the main thing was that she was transparent with her thoughts. She didn't fake out being and supporting friend in front only to stab later.
" You can hate me for this if you want, but this is what it is.." Lucy shrugged and said. Elora chuckled and said, " Atleast you came to warn me unlike people who just kept glaring draggers at me." , Xavier was full for now, so Elora picked back her wine glass and sipped on it, while the kid ran back to his mother.
Lucy looked at some of the girls, who were their 'friends' and shrugged. "Let them. They too think that you will steal the prince today."
Elora nodded and rolled her eyes. As if she cared.
