Chapter 31 (The Road before a New Light)

After passing out at the crack of dawn, Nell awoke to discover that he was back in his previous digital boot camp in Maryland.

What am I doing here again? Inquiring as his phone rang, Nell Hello, Nell questioned.

I'm Lara, your new M.R.C. Medical Doctor. How may I help you, Nell?" Nell was experiencing an odd sense of deja vu as Lara stated.

"Yes, Lara, I am aware that we were scheduled to meet this year. I returned to Digital Training, but why?" Nell queried.

You're still in the training phase before becoming an X Warrior, so what are you talking about? Lara said, perplexed, and Nell was now perplexed even more.

Never mind, what's happening? Nell queried.

"Nell, something happened. an assault during a ceremony to conclude Microsoft X's Data Holdings." Nell became more perplexed and experienced a stronger sense of déjà vu after Lara spoke.

"What transpired that you had to call me?" Nell queried. "Nell, Caleb has been taken hostage." Lara said.

I'll arrive as soon as I can, all right. When Nell hung up the phone and turned around, Microsoft X was in front of him.

"What the heck are you doing, Microsoft? Why am I in this place?" said Nell.

"The Data in the Files of a Verse Designed to Maintain the Balance of the Universe was Damaged." said Microsoft X.

"You're telling me that a verse was tampered with. That is not feasible; the only thing that can disturb Existence is an anomaly. So, shall I assume that I am imprisoned in a damaged, old file?" Nell queried.

"Yes, but I also made a means for you to exist earlier than your previous time period, which is why you're experiencing a sense of déjà vu. In place of your counterparts on this planet, you and the other paragons have awakened. When you received Savo training is just one of the numerous things that have altered. But on my part, Savo cannot present itself a second time. I'm concerned about dealing with celestial creatures in a ruined universe since their code may reveal an alien malware virus. I sent you here in your sleep, and I need you to rectify this. I should have told you, but I had to hurry." said Microsoft X.

Meaning that Owl King should continue where he left off. As she started to comprehend, Nell said.

Adding something else Microsoft X said while waving his hand in Nell's direction.

What did that mean? Nell enquired as he swiftly got over his headache.

When you first called Lara in 2013 to ask for aid, you attracted some attention to yourself. That was you gaining memories of your counterpart from this verse to help you blend in. X replied, and Nell nodded in agreement.

Is there anything else I should know after this? Nell queried.

"No, anything else you should be able to figure out on your own," I said. As Microsoft X vanished, Nell nodded and started making preparations for his return to Maryland and his upcoming appearance as King Owl.

When Nell approached Microsoft's Defense Headquarter and saw Jacob there, ordering his agents to find a means to protect the Data files and identify Caleb, he grinned a little.

Nell called out, "Jacob," to grab his attention.

What a pleasant surprise, Nell. Jacob grinned and said as they exchanged hugs. "Lara called and informed me of Caleb." When Nell said it, Jacob laughed.

"I ought to have known she would tell you. You're here right now to take the job I promised you." stated Jacob.

"I no longer want the job you were never going to give me, to be completely honest. I had plenty of time to reflect while I was training, and I came to the conclusion that I didn't want a position that served to further split Microsoft's Heroes rather than bring it together." Nell responded, shocking Jacob with her choice of words.

What does that mean? Jake enquired.

"The X Warriors aren't making the world any better; on the contrary, they're making it worse. The folks who genuinely require protection are not protected. But you already know who did." said Nell.

"Don't you dare say what I expect you to say," I said. stated Jacob.

"X Microsoft I had plenty of time to reflect on him, and I found out I had been mistaken. He wasn't to blame for the incident. This world did not go off the bridge because to him." said Nell.

"I care about the boss, but we can't rely on his department and facilities. He initially brought out all the crazy people in existence by trying to do everything on his own. We would only have his power to save us if there were another Great Destructive Era." stated Jacob.

"Or perhaps the Triad Gang would be in charge of this universe if it weren't for him. Or the Data Hacking Gang, or any other criminals he apprehended. What about all the other people he managed to save before deciding to stop saving lives and train us? Do they suddenly become irrelevant just because he failed to save those who were significant to you? Does it not matter that he saved 50 schoolchildren that day? You stop seeing all the good he has done because of one error. And you identify as an X Warriors ally and law enforcement officer. has a humorous way of expressing it." Nell stated with malice.

Identify yourself. Jacob enquired, hardly recognizing the young man he had invited to help him create a new hero society.

"Someone who is no longer allowing our ten-year-old rage blinds us. Microsoft X is not the threat you perceive him to be. But I merely came here to inform you that I had returned to the area." Nell remarked as he started to leave.

Jacob inquired, "Where are you going?"

"To locate Caleb. My way." Nell remarked as he left the office.
