That ship has sailed...

"This girl is strange!" Kevin said and opened the door of Samuel's private room. His eyes popped out as soon as he entered the room. Someone jumped out from the window while Samuel was writhing. Kevin ran towards the window but he couldn't see anybody. He turned back to Samuel and blood drained from his face.

"What the heck!! Doctor… doctor…" he screamed for help and ran outside to bring the doctor.

"He is alright! He is alright! He is alright! He is alright! He is alright!" Kevin was constantly murmuring in an inaudible voice. Samuel was taken to the emergency room. It has been thirty minutes since the doctor told Kevin to wait outside while they operate him.

The doctor came out from the room, taking off his gloves and mask. Kevin jumped to his feet and approached the doc. "H-How is Sam- Samuel doctor? He is fine-isn't he?" Kevin stuttered.

"He is out of danger now. No need to worry young man." The doctor replied in an uneasy way. "I hope you are not angry with us now," he continued with a hesitant smile on his face.

Kevin raised an eyebrow and looked at the doctor. It took him a minute to understand why the doctor said that. He recalled what happened while Samuel was writhing.

"What the heck!! Doctor… doctor…" Kevin screamed for help and ran outside to bring the doctor.

"What's wrong Sir? Please don't shout. It's a hospital" the nurse arrived from the room adjacent to Samuel's.

"Nurse, Call doctor immediately. It's an emergency." He shouted, not caring about the rules. The nurse nodded. She ran to call the doctor and He hurried back to Samuel.

"Samuel," he yelled from the door. "Man, you are gonna be perfectly fine. Hang up there." He took Samuel's hand in his.

"D-", Samuel opened his mouth to say something.

"No Sam. Don't do that. What should I do? I'll call the police." Kevin fetched his phone from his pocket. Unexpectedly, he felt a strong squeeze on his hand making him squirm. Consequently, his eyes landed on his hand which was under Sam's strong grip. Dumbfounded, Kevin looks at Sam with his mouth agape.

"DON'T" Sam somehow managed to utter that. Kevin's brows furrowed in confusion. "What?! Wh-Why? I don't understand this. The police needs to catch that person-", before Kevin could finish, he again felt a strong squeeze on his hand making him look Sam directly in his eyes.

Sam's eyes were enlarged to an unusual extent. He slowly shook his head from left to right, to say 'NO'.

"Sam, Man! What the heck is all this!" Kevin was disappointed by this time. He looked at Samuel again, his big eyes were begging him not to tell anything to anyone. "What am I supposed to do now?" He thought to himself.

The doctor arrived in the room along with two other nurses. Looking at the condition of the patient, he immediately ordered the nurse to shift him to the emergency room.

"What happened to him, doctor?" Kevin's voice quavered.

"We can't say anything right now", The doctor replied while examining Sam.

"You need to check the CCTV footage. I think someone tried to kill him." Kevin yelled in panic.

"What?" the doctor immediately turned to Kevin.

"Yes! I saw someone jumping out from the window"

"Nurse, call the security. This is a police case. One of the nurses pressed a button on the wall ringing a bell. Meanwhile Sam was ready to be taken to the emergency room.

Security personnel arrived. "Check the CCTV footage to see who entered this room. Also call the police immediately" the doctor ordered the security personnel.

"I am afraid doc we can't do that" the security personnel murmured.

"Why so?" the doc enquired.

"There's a problem in the server and we are trying to fix this as soon-"

"WHAT THE HECK!" Kevin shout at the top of his voice. "What kind of security is that? I am gonna sue you and your hospital for this. Just wait" Kevin unlocked his phone and was about to dial a number.

"Please wait young man. This is new for us too." The doctor interrupted. "Nurse, take him to the emergency room, NOW!" he ordered the nurse. He then turned to Kevin, "Sir please try to understand. This is about our reputation. We can't risk that."

"Uh-huh, but you can risk patient's life. Is that what you do here? You are soo over." Kevin was burning with anger at the moment.

"NO KEV STOP!" Sam yelled while writhing in pain. He was being taken out from the room but he stopped. Kevin ran to him, "Don't worry Sam. I am here for you".

"NO POLICE" Sam forced those words out of his mouth. His condition was worsening.

"Nurse take him immediately" the doctor shouted from the back. The nurse nodded and took him promptly.

"Your friend also don't want this young man. Please don't call the police. We assure you we will help you in every means we can. Just don't call the police."

"I am going to operate him now. Please pray for him." The doctor looked at Kevin with pleading eyes. Kevin clenched his jaw as his anger was at it's peak. "Fine" he pressed his eyes and shrieked in disappointment. The doctor breathed out in relief and ran to the emergency room.

"You didn't answer my question" the doctor asked in a low tone, snapping Kevin back to present.

"I want to see him" Kevin replied, completely ignoring the doctor.

"Sure" he cleared the way for him. "He is being shifted to room 1208. That one.." he pointed towards a room by the corner, "you can meet him there in five minutes-" Kevin heads to the room leaving the doctor.

He waited till Sam was comfortable enough to talk. "Now tell me everything Sam. What the hell is wrong with you?" he lightly slapped on his shoulder.

"Kevin, You have to help me. Please save me." Sam took Kevin's hand in his.

"They will track me down and will again try to kill me. They want me DEAD" Sam had tears in his eyes.

Kevin slightly tapped Samuel's hand to assure him. "But who are those people anyway? And why do they want to kill you?" Kevin asked.

"First take me to a safe place. Only then I will tell you," Samuel replied.

"You should take police protection, Sam. They will protect you." Kevin advised being a good friend.

"One of the police officers is helping them. I can't trust anyone" Samuel sniffed.

"Is that the reason you told me not to call the police back then?" Kevin looked sympathetically at Sam.

Sam nodded his head. Kevin exhaled sharply. He couldn't say no to his friend. Hence, He agreed and talked to the doctor about Sam's condition.

With the doctor's permission and apologies, he shifted Sam to one of his old places, on the outskirts of town where he used to go whenever he needed some alone time.

At Mia's house-

"Mia…" Eva bit her lower lip in nervousness as Mia bursted into her house.

"He is dead, right?" She straight away went to Ida.

Ida's silence made her to eye Ida suspiciously. "S… Sorry M...Mia… I injected him with arsenic successfully but that man came in before I escaped the room.. and I think he saw me." Ida fixed her gaze on the ground to avoid looking at Mia.

"What?" Mia was taken aback. "Why did you signal me before leaving the room?" She roared.

"I was about to exit the room after that. But I tripped and fell flat. The injection went far away from me. And that caused the delay." Ida tried explaining herself.

"YOU DUMB WOMAN. I'LL KILL YOU" Mia swiftly grabbed Ida's neck and started compressing it. Eva ran to save Ida. "MIA STOP" She shouted at Mia and pushed her back.

Mia balanced and saved herself from falling. "NOOOO" She shouted. Taking her head in her hands, she was now burning with rage.

"K.E.V.I.N. K.A.I." she said through her clenched teeth. Her eyes were red with anger. Mia started throwing everything on the floor while screaming.

"D... don't worry Mia. We have a plan B" Eva uttered to catch Mia's attention. Just as she hoped, Mia stopped throwing things. She turned to Eva. Giving a threatening look to Eva she warned, "I'LL KILL YOU IF THIS ISN'T WORTH LISTENING TO,"

Eva gulped nervously. She nodded and started speaking what was in her mind.

After a long discussion, Ida got up from the couch. "You need a drink?", she asked. Mia nodded her head. Ida went and came back with three beer bottles.

"Here" Ida handed over one bottle to Mia and another to Eva.

***Phone Ringing***

"I've to take this," Ida said and went in the corner. Mia and Eva were relaxing after an intense discussion.

"I need to go," Ida came back in a hurry. She placed her bottle on the table.

Mia didn't respond to her as she was lost in the train of her thoughts. Eva gave a thumbs up to her and Ida left. "I need to go too" Eva got up from the couch and left.

Mia was still drinking her beer. Her eyes had a pool of emotions in them and rage was a major part of them.

***Meow***

Sassy leaped into Mia's lap and hugged her.

***Ding dong***

Kevin opened the door. "YOU!", he was shocked to see Mia at his door. She, accompanied by Sassy, was at his door. She shoved him with a hand and got into his house. Walking unsteadily on her feet, she went and sat on the couch. Sassy also sat besides her.

"Let's talk Kev," Mia said with a smirk on her face. "Meow…" Sassy called out cheerfully.

Mia at Kevin's house! What is she doing there? What does she want to talk about? Is this some kind of a trap? Read the next chapter to find out.
