Final Exams

"During summer vacation, we'll have a training camp in the woods."

Kazuya, along with the rest of his classmates, heard their homeroom teacher's announcement. Immediately, the whole class erupted in cheers as excitement filled their bodies.

Well, except Iida, who had returned to class the previous day. Following the funeral, Iida became much more calm and quiet. Although he still retained his previous personality, it's obvious that his brother's death had impacted him. He's now much more serious and had shown a determination to improve no one had seen in him before it all happened.

Everyone was of course supportive and understanding, encouraging and even helping him find other healthier outlets when things went too far.

Aside from that, not much else has changed. And Kazuya was glad for it.

"However," declared Aizawa, as he activated his quirk, immediately silencing all his students and breaking Kazuya's train of thought. "Those who don't pass the final exams will be in summer school hell."

The teacher's announcement gained horrified looks on all his classmates. No one wants to be stuck in summer school after all.

"Everyone, let's do our best!" Kirishima shouted in excitement.

And that was how the days had passed for all the students. Nothing much happened in this periode of time, aside from everyone preparing for the exams to come.

Aizawa had told them previously that for Hero Course Students, final exams would not only encompass a written test, but also a practical component.

Kazuya himself spent this time hanging out with his friends, his family, and even joining up with Momo's study group, along with Shinso, Sero, and the others. At first, they were all pretty disgruntled when the girl unintentionally slapped them with how rich she was. But the fact that she was so eager was so innocently cute, so they just brushed it off.

They were all further humbled when the Yaoyorozu 'house' was actually more akin to a mansion. With expensive paintings, a well groomed garden, and even a butler. But despite all that, Momo made well on her promise to help each and everyone of them in the lectures they struggled with. Kazuya, who was relatively weak with history, appreciated it. He however, tutored the ones struggling in english.

It was during one of these days in school that they got a tip from Kendo, the 1B president, saying that the practical exams involved fighting robots.

"If we're fighting robots, this'll be a cinch!" Denki exclaimed excitedly. "I can just fry those robots no problem!"

"Yep! Those hunks of metal won't stand a chance against my acid!" Mina agreed with an arm high up in the air.

"Still, I don't think you should just trust that kind of info blatantly. This is U.A. after all." Momo shared her thoughts as she wiped her mouth with a napkin.

"What? But-"

"Remember who our homeroom teacher is. This could just be another one of Aizawa's logical ruses." Kazuya told them, agreeing with Momo's assessment.

"Aw man…" moaned Kaminari.

"Besides, just because it's robots doesn't mean you still shouldn't prepare for it. I doubt it'll be the same as the entrance exams. This is the finals. I bet it's going to be much tougher than the things we've done so far." Shinso said.

The rest of the students on their table showed their agreement, which added more and more towards Kaminari and Mina's depression.

However, they quickly bounced back and laughed it off. Excited to see what they can do in the exams.

And soon enough, the days passed. The time for Finals has come.

— The Warping Hero —

"Pencils down, everyone. The last person in each row, collect the answer sheets and bring them here." Aizawa ordered the class as the bell rang to signal the end of the written test.

"Thanks Yaomomo! Thanks Kazuya! I felt like I did great!" Mina exclaimed, full of excitement."

"I didn't leave anything blank this time!" Denki grinned.

"We have to really work on your standards, Kaminari-san." Momo sweatdropped at his statement. "But you're welcome." She continued with a smile.

"Ne ne, it's time for the practical portions! It's robot busting time!" Hagakure said with her arms up in the air.

"Alright then, change into your costumes and meet me in Ground Beta." Aizawa said just as he finished sorting through the exam papers. "The practical exam will start in ten minutes so get going."

"Yes sir!" The class said in unison.

Soon, the entire class of 1A were gathered at the exam area, all in costume and ready to kick ass. Kazuya stood next to Jirou and Tokoyami making small talk as they waited for their teacher. That was when said teacher arrived in the Ground Beta, along with most of the Pro Heroes of the U.A. staff.

"Woah, what's all the teachers doing here?" Ojiro stated, surprised at the development.

"Perhaps they're here in case of an accident?" Momo said, quite unsure.

"If that's true, won't just having Recovery Girl be enough? This is pretty excessive." Midoriya commented, to which the taller girl agreed with.

Kazuya stood there, quite confused, but chose to just stay quiet to wait for Aizawa's explanation of it all.

"Now then, we'll begin the practical exams. Remember, if you want to go to the training camp, then make sure to not do any stupid mistakes."

Eraserhead started the announcement, before peering into the eyes of every student.

"I assume that you've all gathered information on what exactly we're doing today?"

"We're fighting robot warriors! Just like the entrance exam!" Kaminari exclaimed.

"Fireworks! Curry! Bonfire!" sang Mina, getting totally ahead of herself.

"Too bad!" said a voice that originated from inside of Aizawa's scarf. That is when Nezu, the mouse principal, decided to pop out of his nest and address the students. "For various reasons, the exam will be different this time!"

Kaminari and Mina instantly froze, while Kazuya, Momo, and Izuku sighed.

Nezu then continued to explain how on the previous night, all teachers of U.A. held a meeting to discuss the current situation of the world and how they could apply it to their exams. That was when they decided to focus more on person-to-person combat to fight the rising number of villains. Students will be divided into pairs and will be facing a teacher with a little handicap. In addition, the pairs had already been formed thus not allowing the students to try to choose their own teams.

[Flashback]

"Now then, for the matchups." Aizawa's tired boice rang inside the meeting room as all the staff U.A. listened with rapt attention.

"First of all, it will be Kazuya and Midroiya vs me. Kazuya has shown to have no obvious weaknesses, as he has covered his bases quite well. We'll see what he can do when his quirk is rendered useless and faced against someone who is his superior in close quarters combat. Midoriya has improved leaps and bounds in regards to control over his quirk, I'd like to personally see his progress with my own eyes."

"Not to mention, those two went with Edgeshot together for internships right. It'll also be a good chance to see if their time with them gave them good teamwork or not." Present Mic chimed in.

"That was the plan." Aizawa nodded. "Now next up, Todoroki and Bakugo against All Might. Bakugo has seemingly mellowed out ever since his loss in the sports festival, but his unwillingness to work with his peers has been a major issue for a long time. We'll test if he has improved at that front by partnering him with Todoroki, who has enough of a backbone to challenge Bakugo if he goes too far, but also inclined to work together if push comes to shove. Todoroki himself is also chosen to see if the changes we've seen in him through the sports festival and internships are permanent. By giving him an insurmountable task by fighting All Might, to test if he's willing to use his fire under impossible odds."

"They are also the 2 class powerhouses right?. It'll be interesting to see how they match up to the number one as a duo."

All Might himself just nodded, he even briefly turned to his buff state, quite eager to test out the students.

"Next, we have Jirou and Shinso against Present Mic. This particular matchup is pretty obvious, Shinso and Jirou both have sound or voice based quirks. We'll see how they handle a person who's loud enough to drown them out."

"Alright! Just leave them to me Shota!" Mic exclaimed while giving some finger guns.

Aizawa, quite used to Mic's mannerisms, simply ignored him as he chose to continue.

"And last but not least, Sero and Yaoyorozu vs Midnight. Sero has shown the ability to work with anyone, and is here to be more of a supporting role. Yaoyorozu however, has major confidence issues ever since her failure in the Sports Festival and is incapable of thinking on her feet. Therefore Midnight will be tasked to put them both under pressure with her quirk and close combat abilities, to test them both in this specific skill. Not to mention that Yaoyorozu went with Midnight for her internships, which means you know her best." Aizawa said, the end addressing Midnight specifically.

The woman herself just nodded as she licked her lips in eagerness.

(The rest of the fights are the same as canon)

[Flashback end]

"We're fighting against Eraserhead?!" Midoriya exclaimed in surprise.

"Heh, this'll be one hell of a fight." Kazuya smirked.

Bakugo grinned maliciously when he heard he would fight All Might. That grin turned into a twitch when he found out Todoroki was his partner. 'Tch, damn half-and-half bastard better not get in my way.'

"I look forward to working with you, Sero-san." Yaoyorozu said to Sero, to which he replied with a thumbs up.

Jirou and Shinso merely nodded at each other, as they stood together.

Later, each pair took turns in doing the exams with the teachers. A good half went on buses to their designated locations while the other half was told to go to another location where they could watch their classmate's take the exam. However, most opted to isolate themselves with their partners to talk strategy.

The first to participate were Kazuya and Midoriya, who found themselves in an urban area with their homeroom teacher.

Aizawa gave a lazy but quick explanation on the test parameters and the conditions of winning. Teams will pass if they manage to reach the escape gate or capture their opponents. It was also then that he revealed the handicap.

"Those definitely look handy for training." Kazuya pondered out loud when he saw Aizawa put on the ultra compressor weights. Midoriya agreed, thinking how doing so is a pretty beneficial strength and speed training.

"As long as you don't overdo it, feel free to use them after the exams are over. But only on school grounds." Aizawa said. "The other teachers and I will be strapping these things equal to half our body weight."

"That's a pretty big handicap."

"It was judged to be the appropriate amount for you students. After all, it wouldn't be a test if we teachers go all out now would we?" Aizawa smirked before he leapt up towards a building.

"Head to the center area. That's where your starting point will be. The exam starts with the announcement. Good luck."

Aizawa said before he swung himself out with his scarf.

Kazuya and Midoriya went to the starting point and waited. It didn't take long for them to hear the announcement.

[Team Midoriya and Monoma, practical exam begin]

Hearing the announcement, the two of them ran towards the exit.

"So what's the plan?"

"Honestly, I think we should escape. Our quirks are both built for speed so if we rush it, I'm sure we could get to the gate before Aizawa captures us."

"But there's also a chance he'd wait at the gate exit right?" Midoriya pondered, a hand on his chin.

"True, and if that's the case then we'd have no choice than to actually fight him."

"Aizawa's quirk counters ours, but he's gotta blink at some point right?"

"Alright then, here's what we'll do…"

— The Warping Hero —

Aizawa waited by hiding behind a chimney on a random rooftop that's overseeing the exit gate. Usually, the strategy he uses on these exams is to quietly creep on his students and ambush them. But with Kazuya's quirk in play, that strategy wouldn't work. So he opted to wait them out in the last street and take them down here.

He had already placed a few traps around the area just in case. Nothing much, just a few trip wires and caltrops that would prove a hindrance towards his two students.

It didn't take long for them to make an appearance. One of Kazuya's distinct knives flew in and stabbed itself on the ground around 20 meters from the gate. A second later, Kazuya and Midroiya appeared right where the knife was in a red flash.

He could see them turn their heads left and right, no doubt in their attempt to find him.

Aizawa shook his head at that. For some reason, people just never look up. Aizawa quietly jumped on a utility pole right above them and readied his capture scarf. Just as he was about to make his move, he suddenly swerved his head to the side. A kunai flew past, slightly cutting his hair. He looked back to the ground to see Kazuya and Midoriya looking right at him.

Aizawa smirked at that. These two really are good.

Immediately using his quirk on them, Aizawa jumped down and threw his capture tape at Midroiya, intent on wrapping it on the slower of the two. Expectedly, the boy dodged as Aizawa landed on the ground.

He made sure to keep them both in his field of vision as Aizawa engaged his students in hand to hand combat. Kazuya rushed him, aiming for a straight punch. Aizawa simply used one arm to redirect the blow, using his other to thrust his elbow into the red-head's face. Kazuya managed to raise an arm to block the elbow, only to gasp in pain as Aizawa kneed him in the gut.

Aizawa then pulled his head back, dodging Midoriya's punch before grabbing the extended arm and using Midoriya's own momentum to spin him around and throw him at Kazuya's direction.

The greenette slammed into his own teammate as they rolled on the ground a few times before they stopped.

Aizawa didn't even give them time as he rushed towards them immediately. Kazuya had just managed to stand up before the capture scarf wrapped around him and jerked him upwards over some power lines. Kazuya was then left hanging in the air with his arms tied to his side.

"Kazuya!"

Aizawa looked to Midoriya, to see him in slight panic at the state of his partner.

And that right there, was when Aizawa made his mistake.

By looking at Midoriya's location, he allowed Kazuya to leave his view. All it took was just a second, and Aizawa found himself wrapped up in his own capture tape a few meters in the air.

Aizawa widened his eyes. 'When did he mark me?' His eyes grew even wider when he realized. 'When he blocked elbow, he put his tag on me in that split second exchange.'

Despite his loss, Aizawa found himself smirking. 'Not bad at all.'

[Team Kazuya and Midoriya pass.]

His two students high fived before they helped Aizawa from his restraints.

"Well done you two. But I'd like to ask, how did you spot me? Usually, people tend to not look up." Aizawa asked as he released the weights and rolled his arms.

"Edgeshot pulled that trick on us a bunch of times." Kazuya shrugged. "We sort of got used to supposed ninja techniques like that."

The class president smirked. "We were just your worst matchup, sensei."

Aizawa raised an eyebrow at that, it looks like his students are getting more comfortable with him if they could tease him like that.

"Try saying that when I'm not handicapped. I'll show you just how terrifying I could be." Aizawa said this with a demonic grin.

"R-Right." Kazuya and Midoriya gulped at seeing his expression.

Alright, he's still got it.

We're back!

Man, it seems like ages ago since I've worked on this fic (to you guys it's only been days but all I've done is post the chapters I've had in reserve). It's been like over a month since I've written a chapter on TWH and it's refreshing.

Honestly, I was kind of in a writer's block and confused on where I wanted to bring this fic in the future. In terms of canon plot, some things have changed, others have stayed the same.

Btw, Marionette of Suna is already up with around 4 chapters. So make sure to give it a look. Comment and review too so I know you're Warping Hero OG's.

Well in any case, I'll do my best to divide my time equally between this and MOS. I do intend on ending it after all. None of my work will ever be unfinished.
