Chapter 29: Sports Festival (8)

"This year's students are strong." A person said.

"Yeah, but that's all there is to them. Strong." Another one said.

"Like you were any different in your high school days." Someone else said.

Hearing that the one who said that the students are just strong and nothing else looked in a different direction to deflect the ire directed at him.

"Hey, is that kid related to Ingenium?"

"His last name is Iida, maybe his brother I don't know." Some said.

"That Saiba kid is strong, plus fast. I believe that he will take the first position in this too." One of the pro heroes who have been watching the matches said.

"Don't forget about Todoroki, his usage of ice and fire is out of this world. And the Mineta kid too, even though he was not a match to Saiba he did come up with a strategy on the fly, even though it had become useless." Another pro hero said.

"Then what about Bakugo?" A new one asked. "What about him? He's just a bully, nothing more. He's not even a hero material." One of the pro heroes said.

Hearing this, one of the audience told the pro hero "I won't say bully. He gave his all to defeat the Uraraka girl, not belittling her. If you think that was bullying then let me ask you this.

If an opponent fought you half heartedly, what would you feel?

You don't have to answer, just think it over. And you will understand why Bakugo did that."

Hearing that, the pro heroes fell silent and started to think about that outcome, and they didn't like it at all.

But their pro hero pride didn't allow them to admit their fault and just left from their seats.

As they left as a group, there were more seats available. A minute later, two middle aged women and a woman in her early twenties came with a child of age five or six.

The child left the hand of the young adult and went straight to the man and said "Papa! Big sis is here."

Picking up the child, the man placed her on his lap and said "Is that so? Did Yuki bring big sis here?"

"Yes! Mommy said we can sit here." Yuki merrily said.

The three women were amused by the actions of Yuki and sat down next to the man.

Sitting down, one of the women said "Jun, this Fuyumi's mother Rei."

Jun, looked at the white haired women and introduced himself "I'm Jun'ichirō Saiba, nice to meet you."

"Rei Todoroki, nice to meet you too." Rei introduced herself to Jun.

"Fuyumi, it's good to see you." Jun greeted Fuyumi.

"Yes uncle, it's good to see you too." Fuyumi said.

After that they started to speak about their son's who were participating in the tournament.

As the final match of the first round ended, Rei spoke "I have said this to Tomo, but I will say it to you too. Your family of four is invited to our home for dinner."

"For what reason?" Jun asked.

"I know that Jōichirō and Fuyumi are in a relationship, that's only one of the reasons, another reason is that, Jōichirō had saved my eldest and I haven't been able to properly thank him."

"Oh. When did that happen?" Jun asked surprised as he hadn't heard anything related to that from his wife nor from his son.

"It was long ago, Jōichirō found my son at Sekoto Peak.. " Before Rei could continue, Jun said "So the kid who lost control over his fire was Fuyumi's brother?"

"Yes, Jun. I was surprised too. What are the odds that our son saved her elder brother and her?" Tomo asked with a smile on her face.

"Well, we were in the same prefecture, just moved house from time to time, so I would say that the odds are in favor." Jun spoke so seriously.

"Hahaha hahaha" Tomo laughed by covering her mouth so that it wouldn't go into a full blown laughter.

Rei and Fuyumi just giggled at his serious answer, and when Fuyumi was about to say something, Present Mic announced [It's time for the quarter finals!

The first round is between, the dark horse of this tournament, General department student, Hitoshi Shinso!

The man with engines, hero department student, Tenya Iida!

Let's give them a round of applause and invite them to the stage!]

"It's amazing isn't it? He was placed in the General department because he scored less in the entrance exam, but here he is now, standing on the stage against the top of the entrance exam." Jun said, surprising them.

"Do you know that kid Jun?" Tomo asked.

"No, but I can guess. Jōichirō did tell us that the entrance exam was with robots, so I can guess that as a person with psychic ability myself, that kid didn't get his chance to shine in the entrance exam. But through this sports festival, I'm sure that he has been spotted by some of the teachers." Jun just spoke continuously, while watching Shinso being pushed out off the stage by Iida.

[The first quarter finals ended in an instant!

Hitoshi Shinso out of bounds! Tenya Iida advances to the semi-finals!]

"Well, he did give it a shot after all, so that's good." Fuyumi said, while she was observing Shinso who was being praised by his classmates. Then she slowly turned her head towards where the class 1A students were seated and didn't see her brother Shoto, but did see her boyfriend Jōichirō, and he was looking straight at her with a smile on his face. Fuyumi smiled back, knowing full well that he could see her sitting with his family. 'I'm also in his family right? No, not until I marry him.'

She was brought back from her musings when she heard Present Mic announcing [The second match of the quarter final is between, the half hot half cold, Hero Department student, Shoto Todoroki!

Right after the announcement, Fuyumi saw Jōichirō leaving his seat somewhere, she figured that he was going to the waiting room as the next fight was his.

Looking back at the stage, Fuyumi saw her brother and Eijiro standing at their designated position. And just as Midnight started the match, Shoto instantly froze Eijiro inside a large iceberg.

Midnight immediately declared Shoto as the winner as Eijiro was in no way capable of continuing the match from the inside of the iceberg. Everyone in the stadium widened their eyes in the sheer power of the ice.

Fuyumi was and Rei was not surprised, as Shoto has been training under Touya and Rei for his ice, and under Touya and Enji for his fire.

Yuki, seeing the iceberg, said out loud "Wow! It's pretty!" Then turning towards Fuyumi she asked with innocence "Can big sis do that?"

With a smile, Fuyumi said "I can't Yuki."

Yuki looked torn for asking that question, so Fuyumi extended her arm and said "But I can do this."

Right then, Fuyumi's skin on her hand started to turn into a sheen of ice. Seeing her skin turning into ice, Yuki's eye's had sparkles in them.
