------------------------------

"Detective! You might wanna see this!"

Tsukauchi came bursting out of his office when he heard one of his officers call for him.

He rushed over to where a gaggle of cops were gathered around a television in the precinct.

He looked up and saw the missing child he'd been investigating, standing before the entire sports festival, with a smile that could give the devil a run for his money.

"...Boy, I hate it when I'm right."

------------------------------

Bakugo felt his entire tracksuit dampen with his combustible sweat as he stared into the mad grinning face of the Quirkless loser he used to beat and belittle in his youth.

But his brain still refused to accept that it was him, even when he was standing before him. Since when could 'Deku' smile as crazily as that?!

The young villain finally stopped grinning, his smile dropping into a small frown of confusion.

"You look upset." The powerless boy pointed out, his voice booming across the arena through his mouthpiece. Don't tell me you forgot about me?" He took a step forward. It's me! You're old friend, Deku!"

Bakugo took a step back.

The explosive boy noticed this, his shock of seeing Deku once again mixing with the realization of what he'd just done.

Deku noticed this, and a gleeful smirk reappeared on his freckled face.

"I guess I shouldn't be surprised," Deku continued as he stalked closer to the nervous-looking bomb boy. "I mean, why would you remember me? I was just the 'Quirkless loser who wanted to be a hero"."

"But I remember..." Deku's voice then took on a dark, venomous tone. "I remember everything."

"I remember how we used to run around the forest when we were kids." He recalled as he began circling Katsuki, the eyes of the heroes outside the barrier watching him closely.

"How you said I could be your sidekick when we grew up. I remember the day when your Quirk came in. When all the kids and teachers in class praised you for your amazing new powers..."

"...And the first time you blasted me... when I was diagnosed as Quirkless."

The crowd awed in horror, the notion that the explosion boy started hurting the powerless child when he was just four years old.

Bakugo snapped his head at the appalled audience, his ego not taking the disgust in the people's voices so well.

His pride took another blow as he spotted the horrified and disapproving eyes of the surrounding heroes.

The hostile and slated glares of the costumed do-gooders around him struck the boy in a way he had never felt before... And he didn't like it.

"That's why I made this!" Deku drew Katsuki's attention back to him once more, sweeping a hand to the still playing video on the big screen.

"To show everyone in the country how amazing you are!"

The footage showed the part where Bakugo was beating Izuku down behind the school.

The blonde felt more of his explosive sweat coat his skin, making him feel like his life was being drained from every pore.

He thought he was going to be sick.

------------------------------

"A real hero always wins, and stands on top of all of his defeated foes! Isn't that right, Bakugo?" The Quirkless villain's words came through over the small TV screen, as the sound of Izuku on the jumbo monitor cried out in agony from being burned once again.

The sound made every villain in the dive bar grimace and recoil at the gruesome sight.

Giran was never usually one to shy away from seeing a little blood here and there.

But the footage on screen was enough to make even the broker a little squeamish.

"That crazy little green bean..."

------------------------------

"And you were always there to put me in my place. To remind me of who I was, and where I belonged." Deku's carried on over the radio, as Kendo rammed a massive fist into a fresh new punching bag, the last one damaged beyond repair and thrown into a corner.

He listened to his protege as he spoke, the memories of when they first met coming back to him.

The green beans words about suffering worse than whatever Rappa could throw at him made a lot more sense now.

It also made the long-armed man want to hit something. Hard.

------------------------------

The green-haired boy gave a dark chuckle, laughing at his own hurtful words.

Katsuki kept his eyes on him, turning his head as the boy he tried to crush so many times prowled around him, unaffected by the hundreds of eyes watching him right now.

The footage of Bakugo burning Izuku on his arm played once more, the Izuku on screen screaming in agony.

"And you also gave me the best advice as well!" The green-haired child caught the blonde's attention once more, wondering what the heck he was going on about now.

"There was one piece of advice you gave me that I remember, that has followed me to this day!" Deku emphasized, hoping to see a reaction out of the bomb boy.

His delight skyrocketed as he saw Bakugo's eyes flash wide with fright, and he decided to play around with him.

"Now, what was it again? Hmmm...It's on the tip of my tongue..." He mused as he tapped his chin in mock thought.

He snapped his fingers as if it finally came to him. "Oh, that's right! It was the last thing you said to me before I disappeared. If I remember correctly, I believed your exact words were...'If you want to be a hero so bad-'"

KABOOM! ! !

Deku's words were cut off, as an enormous explosion erupted in the centre of the ring.

From out of the fire and smoke came a raging, roaring Katsuki Bakugo, with crazed eyes and his teeth bared like fangs.

"RRRUUUUAAAAARRRGGGGHHHH!" The explosion boy rocketed toward the young villain, who merely grinned as the blonde charged toward him, standing his ground as the furious child closed in on him.

At the last.

When Bakugo closed in and shot out his right hand toward the green-haired boy, Deku moved at the last second.

He grabbed him by his outstretched hand, slung him over his shoulder and slammed him into the ground, the bomb boy's back hitting the tiles. Hard.

Bakugo felt the wind in his lungs leave him, spit flying from his lips as he gasped in sudden pain.

In his spinning mind, Katsuki asked when the Quirkless loser could do something like that.

He received no answer, but the bane of his question reared his head as he popped into his vision on the ground.

Deku looked down at his old bully, his dark hair contrasting with the blue sky appearing behind the dispersing cloud up high. "Oh? so you DO remember!"

Bakugo snarled as he slammed his palms on the ground to his sides and launched himself back on his feet.

He retaliated with a series of desperate, rage-fueled punches, trying to land a single blow on the powerless nobody.

He failed each time, however, as Deku drifted and stepped past each of his attacks with a kind of ease that Bakugo had never seen the weakling use before.

Bakugo racked his brain for an answer to why he was so hard to hit now. It just didn't make sense!

"Come on, Kaachan? Are you even trying?" Deku called out to him as he dodged another punch.

"Wait, maybe you are! I mean, it was so easy for you to hurt me back then. It only makes sense that you'd become so complacent..."

"SHUT UP!" Bakugo roared as he threw an open palm at Deku, a part of his brain trying to bring back the status quo of how his life should be.

He left off a colossal blast, figuring that the Quirkless loser would fall and cry like he always did. Smoke and fire engulfed the powerless villain, blocking him from sight.

Bakugo dared to let a grin crease his face.

Imagine his surprise when Deku jumped out of the smoke, got in close and thrust not one, but now two of his trusty Taser-Knuckles toward the bomb boy's head.

Katsuki's world lit up like a Christmas tree, as twin conductors of high voltage surged through his cranium down to the rest of his body.

"AAAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGGH!"

While trapped in the electric discharge, Deku threw his head up to put his mouthpiece back on, to shield himself as he threw his covered face into Bakugo's, slamming him in the nose.

Katsuki reeled back from the blow, then felt the air in his lungs leave him as Deku rammed a punch into his stomach.

Bakugo keeled over from the sudden winding, but that just set him up to have a heel strike him across the face.

The bomb boy was lifted off his feet, sailing across the ring and skidding across the pavement to a stop.

The blonde coughed and hacked from the painful onslaught, struggling to pick himself up as Deku stalked toward him.

"Get up, Kaachan," Deku ordered, his voice low and dark. "I'm not done with you yet... Not by a long shot." He smashed his Taser-Knuckles together, sparks flying from their colliding nodes.

"We're just getting started."
