------------------------------

Buzzing static met the dynamic duo's ears. They looked to one another in confusion and concern.

Without a word, they acted quick, hopping up into the ventilation shaft and heading for their next location rendezvous point.

Neither of them had a clue as to what Deku was talking about,t but the small felon had a feeling it had to do with that flash drive he was so protective of.

La Brava had a feeling that it held all the answers to the questions that had been plaguing her since the first meeting about Deku's plan.

She also had a bad inkling that she wouldn't like what those answers would be...

------------------------------

Footsteps echoed through the empty hallway, as Katsuki Bakugo stomped his way toward the arena. A demonic sneer was smeared across his face.

He was so close...so close to victory, he could taste it!

It had been a long time coming for the bomb boy. Oh, how he patiently waited to be where he is now.

To show the world who the new number one hero was going to be. To put all the extras down beneath him where they belonged!

Those losers in his class were all weak...worthless...undeserving to be in his presence...like that useless, Quirkless Deku!

His smile grew even wider.

A part of him hoped that the hero-wannabe wuss was watching him somewhere, as he lived the dream he always wanted, but never would. And why would he?

He wasn't born to be anything special, not like Bakugo. He wasn't born for anything!

If that was the case, then why was he even born at all?

The ash-blonde shook his head. This wasn't the time to be thinking about something so pointless.

Now was the time to show the world who he was... what he was made of...that he was here!

The roar of the crowd met his ears. His smile grew more feral.

He stepped out into the sunlight, and the moment he did, flames shot out from either side of the entryway.

Fireworks exploded over his head, drawing everyone's eyes toward him.

"Welcome ladies and gentlemen! The moment you've all been waiting for has finally arrived! The UA Sports Festival Finals! Coming out to the ring first, is the king of combustion from class 1-A! Katsuki Bakugo!"

Bakugo took a moment to bask in the audiences mix of cheers and jeers toward him.

A sense of fulfilment overcame him as he strode into the ring. He was the centre of attention.

The top of the world. Number one, now and forever. This, right here...this was where he belonged.

And that was how it was going to stay.

------------------------------

Back in class 1-A's booth, Ochako looked down at the bomb boy with fear and discomfort rolling around in her stomach.

She had finally stopped crying but felt her dam about to burst once more at the mere sight of the one who drove her into the ground.

She recalled the conversation she had with her father over the phone.

How she blubbered that she didn't think she could stay in school.

It killed her to admit but she was right, she couldn't keep trying to be a hero, not with the likes of Bakugo baring down on her.

Her father was kind and supportive, telling her that if she didn't want to stay, then it was okay.

But it wasn't okay!

The reason why she wanted to be a hero was for her parents! She wanted to help them like they always helped her.

And being a hero seemed to be the best way in her mind. But if she couldn't do that...If she couldn't even help her parents...!

A small, angry part of her wished that Shoto would put that monster in his place! Maybe then, she could still stay and keep learning to be a hero.

But knowing full well how powerful Bakugo's blasts were made that wish as fleeting as wanting to stay at UA.

The gravity girl clutched her tiny fits in frustration. How could someone so villainous and horrible be capable of becoming a hero?!

------------------------------

Shoto made his way toward the exit leading to the ring, his eyes hard and focused. His goal was finally in reach, and all he had to do was win this final match.

But he didn't care for the medal or the praise from the crowd or his classmates.

No... the real prize would be the look on his father's face.

He had made this far with his ice powers alone, a feat that he promised to do for himself, and his mother.

The number two hero would be forced to see how his inherited power would go unused, cast aside as he did his own family.

The scarred boy clenched his fist tight, anger surging through his body.

Once he won this fight, he would have proved he doesn't need his father's fire, and that he doesn't need him!

But had to win first, and that would prove to be a challenge. Katsuki Bakugo had proven himself to be a worthy opponent, all in skill, strength and willpower.

His ruthlessness had been broadcast across the nation, showing how he refuses to lose, even when he is up against enemies that are not in his leagues, such as Ochako and Kirishima.

But then again, Shoto was the same. He refused to let anyone get the upper hand on him, and Bakugo would be just the same.

There was too much riding on this. For him...for his mother...

The ice wielder finally reached the long stretching tunnel that led out to the field, the light at the end challenging him to step forward.

Todoroki took a deep breath to steady his rattling nerves.

He took his first step forward...

And felt a gloved hand placed on his shoulder.

Shoto turned back to see a boy in a dark green hoodie. His face was completely obstructed by a pair of familiar red goggles and some kind of high tech mouthguard covering him up to his nose.

The ice and fire wielder quirked an eyebrow in confusion, wondering who this stranger was and what he was doing here.

"I hope you don't mind. But, I'd like to take a whack at him first." The mysterious boy spoke kindly, though his voice came out deep and digitized through his mouthguard.

He gave Todoroki a pat on the shoulder and walked right past him, heading outside.

Shoto came out of his stupor, reaching a hand out toward the stranger. "W-Wait a minute!"

The green hooded boy kept walking until he stepped out into the light, pyrotechnics and fireworks going off at his approach.

The crowd roared to life at who they thought was Shoto Todoroki, ready to see the finale of the grand spectacle they had witnessed through the day.

Deku couldn't help but smirk to himself.

"Showtime."

------------------------------

And his opponent! The prince of permafrost, also from class 1-A! Shoto Todo...wait a minute..." Present Mic's bombastic voice died down the moment he caught sight of who it was that stepped out of the field entrance. "Who's that?"

At the confused tone in Present Mic's voice, the audience slowly stopped their cheering, focusing their attention on the newcomer walking out onto the field.

Shoto also stared down at the boy, an itch in his brain telling him that he'd seen him from somewhere before.

"Hey, that's not Todoroki!"

"Who is that?"

"Is this part of the festival?"

Bakugo narrowed his eyes quizzically and angrily at the stranger heading towards him.
