Chapter 12: First day of School (IV)

"Ne, ne! Satoru-kun! Do you want to walk around the school?" Satoru was just coming out of the changing room when Nejire came bouncing to him and asked.

"Hm? Sure. Anyone else wanna join?"

"Me! Me!" Hasuko raised his hand and said.

"Me as well. I need to survey the school land in case of any emergency." Minori spoke with a serious expression as he pushed up his glasses (again).

"What emergency could possibly happen in UA where it has the strongest defense system?" Miranda, who was following behind Nejire and Yaya, spoke up, "UA is known to be the safest place in Japan apart from Shiketsu High School, which has slightly better technology, the government office, and the president's workplace. So if anyone attacks UA and succeeds, then they could probably destroy Japan as well."

"I'm just saying. It never hurts to have an emergency plan." Minori refused to be outspoken by Miranda and continued sticking to his excuse.

"Yamamoto-kun probably just wants an excuse to follow us, so don't mind it, Lotto-san." Nejire smiled as she looked at them.

"Please call me Minori."

"I don't mind if you just call me Miranda without any honorifics."

"Minori-kun and Miranda, then! Can I ask you guys a couple of questions? Why do you keep shifting in and out of your 'schrödinger's' state? Is it permanently in a glitching condition? What happens if I touch you when you're in the middle of glitching? How do you decide what are the two 'states' to choose between from? Do you even have a choice to pick what two states you are in? Can you use your quirk to get out of a life or death situation? Can it be applied onto someone else?"

Before Minori could even reply to any of the questions, Nejire's target had swapped to Miranda.

"Why do you have dark eye circles? You should smile more, Miranda! And why do you keep looking down? Your quirk is called reverse, right? Does it actually reverse anything? What about life? How about non-living organisms? Does it turn glass to sand? Could it turn Endo-kun's trees back to rubbish?"

Miranda lost her composure at the barrage of questions fired at her, and she started stuttering nervously in front of Nejire's curious gaze.

"See, Satoru-kun?" Yaya went towards Satoru and said, "This is the usual response people should have in front of Nejire's question. You're the first one ever to even reply to each and every one of the questions without pause. I wonder how you do it..."

"By paying attention and listening carefully. I have a good memory, so Hado-san's questions can be easily answered given enough time to process."

"Sounds easy when you say it like that." Yaya smiled bitterly, "I could only answer Nejire's questions after a few months of practice with her."

'Practice?' Satoru's mouth twitched. He never knew someone needed to practice to answer a few questions.

"I know what you're thinking, but yes. People actually do need to practice talking to her. Nejire's a pain in the ass. She asks way too many questions, her excessive curiosity makes people uncomfortable with her, and she never stops."

Satoru grinned, "But for someone who talks a lot of bad things about Hado-san, you still stick around her, huh?"

"What can I say? I'm just too nice." Yaya spoke with a smug smile.

Satoru didn't say anything to her self-praise and just smiled while Minori and Miranda tried their best to recall and answer some questions, only to be bombarded with more follow-up questions.

"Alright, that's enough, Nejire. Any more, and we wouldn't be able to tour about the school like you want to." Yaya went to stop her before she could ask any more questions. The other classmates had already left, wanting to start exploring as soon as possible in their small cliques.

"Aww..but let's talk on the way."

"Hai, hai~." Although Satoru had only gotten to know Nejire for two days or so, it felt as though they had been friends for quite some time already. Although she could be a handful to take care of, Satoru didn't mind accompanying her chattering along the way.

Besides, it was in his nature to be curious about many things as well. He just doesn't ask his questions directly to the person like Nejire does.

"Ne, ne, Satoru-kun, Yaya! Look at that amount of land! This school is huge!" Leaving out of the building they were in from the backdoor, Nejire commented as she spotted the vast amount of land they could see.

"This is basically a city." Minori followed up with his own comment.

UA's reputation was well-deserved. At least until two years later, where the constant attacks on the school would damage its reputation.

According to the 20 pages thick brochure of the school, the different areas each had their own names.

Although there were only two hero classes per year, the hero school doesn't just focus on the fore-fighters. They also help other students who attended this school to be heroes in their own way.

The students in the Department of Heroes learn everything they need to know to become excellent heroes in service of the community and work towards the qualifications necessary to be allowed to use their Quirks in public spaces. They are trained in battle, first aid, and all manner of heroics-related lessons. Ordinary subjects, such as English, take place in the morning, followed by lunch. Then, in the afternoon, Heroics classes take place.

These students belong to Classes A and B.

The Department of General Education students are usually the ones who don't make the cut for the hero department are included in this department. It boasts a top-notch education with an eclectic lineup of teachers. The department of general education supports students aiming for college and other pursuits. It is also possible for students with exceptional grades to be transferred to the hero department.

These students belong to Classes C, D, and E.

The students in the Department of Support focuses on developing support equipment that helps heroes out on the battlefield. With a workspace stocked to the brim with all sorts of executive tools, the department provides an unmatched creative environment.

These students belong to Classes F, G, and H.

The Department of Management focuses on all aspects of heroic business, from founding and managing hero agencies to executive producing heroes. They even do hands-on lessons in venture capitalism.

These students belong to Classes I, J, and K.

These were the 11 classes that UA has per year, containing a small number of 20 students each.

Apart from the classes, there were places like Ground Gamma, Ground Delta, Ground Beta, Ground Omega, Gym Gamma, and many other grounds which Satoru was sure that he wouldn't get the chance to visit even after the three years he would be here.

Within this two-hour break, before lunch actually started, the four of them walked around the school and familiarized themselves with their surroundings.

After all, they didn't want to risk getting lost in this massive school if they could help it.

As for some of the more guarded places like Ground Omega and Ground Gamma, which had super tall walls surrounding them, they only managed to get a glimpse over the walls without actually entering it.

But they didn't mind. They were going to have an opportunity to enter those training grounds sometime in the future anyway.

After those few stops, two hours had already passed. The place was so huge that they needed to spend a lot of time just making their way to their destination.

Fortunately for them, before they decided to take a trip to those long-distance areas, they had already thoroughly explored the main building of UA.

As the bell rang to signal the time for lunch, the group of five headed towards the cafeteria.

"Nya~! Satoru-kun! Yamamoto-kun! Miranda! Hado-san! Haya-san! How was your exploration, nya?"

Turning their heads towards the sound source, they saw Kuroka walking towards them while waving her hands excitedly. Following behind her were Wannai, Yakumaru, and Maria.

All four girls were considered the most attractive girls in the class, and when together, they had naturally attracted plenty of attention from the other students who were doing their orientation.

They either didn't realize their own charms, or they were used to it, but they were ignoring all the stares and coming straight for the group of five.

"Kinuho-san, Itsuki-san, Kumokawa-san, Toujou-san." They greeted back once they were within earshot.

"Mou...I won't mind it if a handsome boy like you calls me Kuroka, Satoru-kun, nya~."

"Then can I call you Kuroka-chan as well?" Nejire interjected from the side as her eyes sparkled at the sight of her cat ears.

"Um...yes." Kuroka was a bit startled when Nejire immediately stepped forward and stared at her with her curious eyes.

"Can I touch your ears? Are they sensitive? Do they work like cat ears? Do you have normal ears as well?"

"Um...yes, nya~?" Kuroka was bamboozled by Nejire's wave of question that she had even forgotten her original motive of flirting with Satoru.

Upon "receiving" her permission, Nejire stretched out her hand and gently touched Kuroka's ears when Kuroka suddenly let out a startled 'NYA!' upon contact, much to the amusement of the surrounding people.

"Hado-san! Please be gentle, nya~!" Kuroka had a red face from her sudden exclamation, and she hurriedly told Nejire.

"I'm so sorry about her action, Toujou-san. You see, Nejire had an innate trait of curiosity that doesn't allow her to rest until her curiosity is satiated." Yaya exclaimed as she forced Nejire to bow slightly and apologize.

"I'm so sorry, Kuroka-chan! I'll be even gentler next time!" Nejire felt terrible for startling the black cat and quickly apologized, though she couldn't forget the sensation of those soft and fluffy cat ears.

"Nya~, it's no problem."

"I'm starving now, so can we all do this when we're at the cafeteria?" Maria irritably spoke as she started walking off first.

"What's wrong with her?" Minori whispered to Wannai, who smiled and replied, "She's just irritated that she Kuroka didn't allow her to touch her ears, but Nejire could when they had just met."

"Did you manage to touch her ears then?"

"Fufu...no. So the trick to touching her ears is to bamboozle Kuroka with questions so that she doesn't know what she's saying yes to?"

"You guys do realize I'm still here and can hear you talk about bamboozling me, right?"

"Fufu...I'm just joking, Kuroka."

"Tch..."

"Well...let's head towards the cafeteria first, all right? I've heard great things about the Cook Hero who works at the cafeteria." Satoru intervened before things could get more heated. Being surrounded by four pretty girls also didn't help as they were getting more and more attention.

"Fine."

Nobody had a problem with Satoru's suggestion and followed behind Maria, who had already made her way towards the cafeteria.

The cafeteria was huge, like any other buildings in UA, actually.

Each table could seat ten people, five on each side, and there were 44 tables present on the first floor.

Since the number of people in this school was quite big, Satoru saw that the cafeteria had two floors, though the anime really only showed one.

"The first and second years' seats are located on the first floor. The third-year students and the staffs' seats are located on the second floor. And have a good meal." A robotic voice sounded next to them as the Cook Hero gave a thumbs up to them.

A/N: To be honest, I have no idea what I'm going to write after this lol, so I just decided to randomly end here.

And since I'm in a good mood today as I've been trying to write a DxD fanfic this entire week, I'm gonna upload this chapter as well.
