Last place will be expelled?! It was still rattling on inside the minds of the other students.
"But it's the first day of school!" Mina shouted out, worry lacing her words as she knew she would be among the bottom in a test like this.
"No, even if it wasn't the first day of school, this is too unfair!" Ojiro, he was more confident in his abilites but his sense of duty to his fellow classmates compelled him to speak out.
"Natural disasters, big accidents, and selfish villains.
Calamities whose time or place can't be predicted."
Aizawa cut through the din as his voice rose to match theirs. His tone brutal and oppressive.
"Japan is covered with unfairness.
Heroes are the ones who reverse those situations."
He berated the scred mob infront of him, his passion for true heroes plain to see as he lined them up beside it. They failed to match up.
"If you wanted to go talk with your friends at Mickey D's after school, too bad," he harshly mocked them as some tried to open their mouths in protest again,
"For the next three years, U.A. will do all it can to give you one hardship after another."
The reality of what they had signed up for sinking in, weighing down any idealitsic dreams they had gone into this with.
Aizawa watchdd their crestfallen faces, their shoulder slumping as a depression took ahold of the group. He sighed, calming down as cooled off.
"Go beyond. Plus Ultra." He encouraged, insighting a small flame back into the empty husks of his students.
"Overcome it with all you have got!"
He finished with a fierce roar full of passion. The small fire turned into a raging inferno as the students gathered before him all faced the test with heads held high.
They would give it their all, no matter what!
"This is too serious to be hazing."
"I mean, this is the best of the best."
"I have to do it."
"This isn't all I've got!"
Different voice filled the quiet after Aizawas speech. Today they would all do their very best. If they had to leave then so be it. They would leave with their heads held high!
The tests began.
Each student lined up to take part. Their results coming in straight away afterwards.
There weren't too many suprises in who did well.
The expected students shone the brightest as some managed to create an impressive display in some area.
Mineta was probably the biggest suprise. For all his laziness and perverse nature, he was perfectly suited for the side to side.
Bouncing off his rubbery balls like one of those bouncy balls you got as a kid.
Iida showed off his quirk in the two running events. His quirk coming in handy there for him. Though it seemed his quirk was a little too specialised as he struggled with the less feet based tests.
Bakugo, shota, Momo all stuck out as obvious contenders for the top spots too. Their quirks powerful and versatile allowing them some advantage in every test.
But the star of the show was obviously Denki.
His quirk powerful and versatile too but his main strength came from his incredibly creative uses of it.
In the 50 meter dash, he created an electrostatic levitation. Using the slight lift to boost his already incredible speeds to new levels.
He came out only the slightest bit slower than Iida himself! Coming out at 3.58 seconds. Only half a second slower than Tenya Iida
Whos whole quirk is entirely speed based.
He used the same tactic in the long distance run. Actually coming in first on that as Tenyas engines couldn't be blasted at full spped for so long.
Second was Momo she had created an electric skateboard as she sped after Denki. The sight seemed farcicle to any bystander. The skateboard rocketing along as everyone else ran.
But she was jsut using her quirk. After that came sit ups. Denki had been training his body relentlessly for years.
His score easily blew anyone elses out of the water. But then again no one was really all that suprised by now. Coming to expect as much from him.
"What a monster!"
"Seriously, is there anything he can't beat us at?"
The exhausted comments of the others only made Denki smirk as the feintest amount of sweat glistened off of him.
Others were drenched barely able to stoll stand, yet he seemed like he was only warming up!
Unfair!
Everyone felt the same way as they looked at those that stood head and shoulders above them. The difference another reminder of how unfair their societ could be.
They moved on to grip strength now. The students had to grasp a hand-held device that read the force their grip exhibits in kilograms.
Denki went up, he had decided to test his boosted strength first. Squeezing the two metal handles as tightly together as he could manage he kept going till his tendons gave out.
Beep... beep...
The device calculated his score. 157kg. Not bad for someone without a strength based quirk.
Looking over at Shoji, he saw the staggering number of 540kg blinking on his device. "Seems we found something one fo is better than you at eh Denki." The disbodies mouth piece of Shoji said teasingly.
"Yeah I guess my strength doesn't quite match up to yours huh big guy." Denki laughed at the good natured jab. "But watch this" saying that he gave Shoji a grin as he once again grasped the grip strength device.
This time though, he didn't bother to use his own strength. Instead he focussed on elctromagnetically attracting the two metal handholds together.
He stood there, lost in his attempt. The pressure rose and yet the magnetic connection forced the two together still.
Soon the pressure reached insane heights as it rang out incessantly with massive numbers. The device warned that it was reaching its limit, yet Denki was too absorbed in keeping control to care.
Soon the device reached its maximum grip strength, denki struggled against it. Pushing the magnetic forces to their limits, he increased the pressure.
Crack. The devuce broke as the metal handholss ripped from their confinement to snap together.
"Okay yeah nevermind" Shoji added from the side, once again taken aback by Denki's capabilities.
Denkis enhanced jump easily cleared the sandbox in the long jump. Momo catapulted herself across, before creating an inflatable to catch her on the way down. She too cleared the sandbox.
Standing toes touch still seemed like a waste of time to Denki. I mean its not that hard and no real advantage to any quirk. But it was included and he did it.
The side to side was another he excelled at. Electrostatic levitation and slight electrical stimulation meant he could keep it up all day.
Still Aizawa ruled the runt first in it as he was technically going faster. Though Denki hardly felt it counted as the boy wasn't jumping so much as crashing from side to side.
Last was the ball throw. Bakugos impressive explosion and unusual choice of words. 'Really? Die? You are in a hero course man.' Denki still felt it was a weird thing to shout out. But it had left an impression.
And the distance wasn't bad either, just under 1000 meters. So close to that km mark yet so far away.
The others gave it their best try. Shota with a pillar of ice that shot the ball out a good distance too. Momo stunned and awed with her literal cannon.
The things that girl could make would require more paper and time than people had patience to listen to.
Then came Midoriya. His fidgety body trembling as he made his way up. Denki gad kept an eye on him.
Watching as he flailed around each of the courses. Just barely managing to stay in it but most assuredly last place.
Even Mineta had beaten him in some events! Seriously the kid perplexed him more and more as each test went on.
He watched as his first attempt failed. The ball landing a pathetic distance away. Saw as Midoriya swivelled round with wide eyes.
"You erased my quirk?!"
His high pitched voice shrieked out. Everyone looked at him in panic.
What had he just said?
Erased his quirk?
How was that possible?
Wispers buzzed about as everyone tried to figure out what was going on.
"Eraserhead. You're the underground pro hero eraserhead!" Midoriya shouted out in amazement. Shock riveted him in place as he realised who he was facing.
Denki too looked at Shota. A quirk that could suppress or even temporarily erase a persons quirk was as terrifying as it was rare.
His mind raced to understand how it worked.
He watched as Aizawas eyes glowed and grew bloodshot as he strained them open. Denki could see that that must be how he does it.
Something to do with the eyes then. 'Is there a way to stop it. Maybe if he closes his eyes? But then does that mean its unavoidable for others?' so many question whizzed about as he tried desperately to understand.
All he could for now was to know. Shota Aizawa was not to be messed with.
Quiet words were exchanged between the green haired boy and the now revealed pro hero.
Soon after a look of determination took over Midoriya's face as he went for his second attempt.
He flexed his arm and threw it, like a normal throw. At the last second the ball seemed to explode away in a mesmerising gush of wind.
"Wow! Midoriya you have a strength enhancer quirk!" Someone in the crowd cried out
"That was awesome!"
"You really kept that hidden!"
Many came forward to give the young man encouragement of his suprising display. He had finally managed something that wasn't entirely ordinary.
Denki saw it. The bruised and battered finger as the ball blew away. 'So thats it. He has no control.' his thoughts turning depressed as dissapointment lanced through him.
Any hope that maybe the kid had something more going on gone. He was just another lazy kid who rode the wave of having a strong quirk.
Aizawa noticed it too as his eyes narrowed. An approving glint flashed through them though as he nodded his head slightly as the boy was wrapped in the praise of his classmates.
Only Bakugo scowled from the back his eyes looking at the result of Denki's throw.
'867 meters'
Not as good as his, but it was clear that the smaller boy had been holding back. He had gone all out. He knew who really came out on top of this.
