Chapter 18

Axel tied his shoelaces as he sat down by the door ready to leave.

" All set for today? " His mother asked with a smile as she came up to him as Axel stood up.

" Yeah. " Axel responded.

" Good. You've worked hard. Now go out there and show them what you are made of. " She said with a grin on her face.

" You just want to brag that I'm your son to others. " Axel stated.

" Of course not. " She said with a smile while Axel just sighed.

" Well, I'll be going. " Axel said.

" Okay. Also Axel. " She said as Axel looked at her.

" Have fun okay. "

Axel stared at her couple of seconds before nodding his head. His mother smiled warmly as Axel walked out of the house.

" Bye, mom. " He said.

" Bye. " His mom said cheerfully.

The UA sports festival. Held once a year, broadcasted all over Japan, and lasts a day but that day, everyone stops what they are doing which allows them to watch.

This year, however, the attention is all placed on the first-year students. Class 1-A in particular has all the attention due to the USJ incident.

After all, a bunch of first-year students survived a villain attack while sustaining no important injuries.

The excitement this year was focused mostly on the first years. The stadium was packed to the brim with heroes along with other people, mainly family members who could afford a ticket.

" I can hear the commotion from here. " Kirishima said as he listened to the crowd.

" The stadiums are packed. Everyone will be watching. " Sato said.

" Damn I'm excited. " Mina said with a smile while jumping around getting warmed up.

Others shared her excitement while others were quite nervous. Axel was silent as he had his eyes closed waiting to fpr them to leave the room. He sighed mentally considering he couldnt finish the new technique he was trying out with his barriers, as he looked at his right arm.

Todoroki stared at Midoriya who caught his gaze. No words were spoken. The determination in Todoroki's eyes was enough for Midoriya. He responded with determined eyes as well.

The war had already started like Axel said before. No need for declarations as the class knew exactly what was going on.

" Hello, everyone. " Mic yelled to the crowd.

" Welcome to this year's UA sports festival! As you already know, the sports festival is broken up into three separate parts.

The events will allow us to eliminate the students quickly until we have only 16 students left to go to 1v1 fights.

So with that said, let's introduce the contestants. "

Walking through the hallways, class 1-A walked through into the light.

" First up, we have the class that survived the USJ incident, class 1-A!! " Mic yelled.

The crowd cheered in excitement as class 1-A showed themselves to the public. Shock filled most of the students as they expected a large crowd but not this large.

Nervousness filled inside them as they looked at the crowd but they pushed down the feelings.

Bakugou, on the other hand, had a massive feral grin as excitement bubbled inside him.

Axel just looked around while his expression didn't change much.

" Next up, we have the second class from the hero course, class 1-B!!! " Mic yelled.

Class 1-B walked through the halls as the crowd cheered for them as well however you could sense the difference in the levels from the cheering.

The other classes walked onto the field as the crowd cheered lowered. Most of them knew that class 1-A would be the favorites, so they were not surprised but it was still annoying.

" The person in charge of the games today will be the r-rated hero Midnight. " Mic yelled as Midnight walked onto the stage wearing her hero costume.

Saying most of the males became simps was an understatement as they stared at her body while females were annoyed.

The students through had other thoughts.

' Really?! Out of all the teachers it had to be her?!!'

" Welcome to the sports festival. However before festivities can begin, we first have an opening speech by the representative of the first years.

Axel Black. "

Upon hearing his name, Axel's face didn't change as he walked up to the podium to deliver his speech.

Walking to the microphone, Axel had multiple thoughts.

' What do I say? I don't know how to give speeches. ' Axel thought as he stood in front of everyone.

Mina and Kirishima were waiting on edge as they looked at Axel. They had kept in their chuckles as they knew Axle was never good at speeches.

' Fuck it. Say something Axel, but say it with confidence. '

" Welcome everyone to the UA sports festival. I hope everyone enjoys today's festivities as I can say for certain that all of us will give it our all.

All of us will be aiming for the top spot today. Should be an exciting day for all of us. Hope you enjoy it. Good luck everyone."

Axel then turned around and walked down the stairs as everyone stayed silent. That was a weak speech.

Mina and Kirishima walked over to Axel and patted his back as Axel just stayed silent. He knew that the speech was terrible when the words cane put of his mouth.

' I will never do that again. ' Axel thought.

Meanwhile, his mother, Mina, and Kirishima's parents were also laughing while Axel made his speech. They knew what was going through his head.

" Okay then. Well on to the first competition. " Midnight said as the large screen behind her started spinning.

Soon enough it finally stopped as everyone looked at the result.

Obstacle course.

" The first event of the day will be the Obstacle course! The track has already been placed around the stadium as shown on the screen.

The path has signs that will tell you where to go. Quirks are allowed as long as you are on the path.

The first 40 contestants that cross the finish line will move on to the next round. " Midnight yelled.

The audience cheered as the students got ready. They stood by the entrance ready to run once the race began.

Axel stared at the race and stood at the back. He was in no rush and merely looked at other contestants.

" On your marks. "

The students tensed up as they got ready.

" Get set. "

The tension was clear as the audience was silent.

" Go. " Midnight yelled.

The first event of the sports festival has started.
