“Are you sure you need to be nekkid?” Ryker leaned in, keeping his voice to a whisper and Alejandro huffed a laugh.
“Sorry, cari?o. But I’m not magical. I only change my shape. I can’t make clothes appear and disappear, or even still stay on me irrespective of how big and green I get.”
It was Ryker’s turn to stifle a laugh.
“Okay. I get it.”
“Oh, you will. Later.” Alejandro purred the last word and Ryker bit back his moan.
“Bastard.” Ryker grinned as they continued to walk slowly. The banter helped. If someone had told me I’d be spending my holiday help track a rogue mythical beast, I’d have had them locked up.
There was no way to know how much time had gone by. Alejandro wasn’t wearing jewelry of any kind and with the gun in one hand, and the torch in the other, Ryker couldn’t check his watch.
Although Ryker wouldn’t describe the temperature as anything less than humid and warm, there was an occasional cool breeze. A faint sound reached Ryker’s ears and he froze in place.
