Comfortably Numb

Before the bombardment, Frank Jaeger was rescued by an old friend from the past. Frank slowly opened his eyes, feeling his body sting in agony. He was laying on a table, bound by metallic confinements,

"Shhh, it's ok Frank. You're going to be ok, just relax…" a female's voice reassured to him,

"He'll save me…he always saves me….he always was there…" Frank weakly mumbled as a painful tear rolled down his feet, he then noticed robotic arms with needles hovering over him. The arms jammed the needles into Frank's body, injecting him with something to take the pain away. He didn't flinch but his agonized self suddenly became more relaxed,

"Hello….Is there anybody in there?…Just nod if you can hear me…Is there anyone home?" He began to sing in his head, more of the needles injected inside him to numb him some more,

" Come on now…I hear you're feeling down. Well I can ease your pain, get you on your feet again. Relax…I'll need some information first, just the basic facts….Can you show me where it hurts? " Frank began to feel like he was floating, slowly ascending into a state of nothingness, his hearing deafening until absolute silence.

" There is no pain you are receding…A distant ship smoke on the horizon…You are only coming through in waves…Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying ." He closed his eyes thinking of a distant time back in Vietnam where a brunette woman took care of him while he was hospitalized, the first time he felt that ecstasy.

" When I was a child I had a fever…My hands felt just like two balloons…Now I've got that feeling once again, I can't explain you would not understand, this is not how I am… " as the light illuminated his destroyed and severely damaged body, the flashback ended,

" I….have become…comfortably numb… " he continued, Frank thought back to when he first met Big Boss in the hellhole he grew up in,

" Okay…Just a little pinprick, there'll be no more, ah, but you may feel a little sick… " Fox kept thinking about his wars alongside Big Boss, how he was back then in his prime, before this all happened.

" Can you stand up? I do believe it's working, good. That'll keep you going through the show, come on it's time to go… " it was there he felt a breeze past by him as he began thinking about the emotions he felt with Gustava, the intimacy, the passion, the real genuine love and touch of another person and it all made him cry once more.

" For the first time in a while, he felt genuine love but he also began feeling a kind of pain he didn't believe he would ever feel but it hurt far worse than anything physical. Gustava, his true love, the mother of his child, died by his own hands.

" When I was a child….I caught a fleeting glimpse…out of the corner of my eye… " Frank opened his eyes as he couldn't feel the robot arms piercing and moving through his body.

" I turned to look but it was gone, I cannot put my finger on it now, the child is grown, the dream is gone… " Frank's eyes began to drift off due to the painkillers and he was losing consciousness,

" I…have become…comfortably numb… " he simply thought before he knocked out. Behind the glass, an older woman with gray streaks in her brown hair and beside her a younger woman with black hair, both wearing doctor's uniforms.

"Who did this…" the young woman spoke in a faint British accent, angry and vengeful in her words.

"It was David, Solid Snake. Don't worry about him now, we need to focus on Frank and rebuilding him. I finally perfected the nanomachines, all we need is to create the perfect exosuit and then we can get our revenge on Zero but in due time, Naomi." the woman informed,

"Fine Dr. Clark, just give me a second." She said as she turned to head to the door. On her way out, she noticed a file that had some paperwork inside, the file was labeled, " FOXDIE ". Naomi quickly took the file and left the room, preparing for her revenge against the man who paralyzed her brother.
