Gloom's POV.
Walking into Fontaine, I see a sight which I probably should have expected, the shocked faces of my family.
"You did not do what I think you did." Father said as she walked up to me, clearly referring to the use of my tentacles, and to that I could only look to the ground, "You did..." Father easily deduced, "...Gloom, you know doing that isn't good for you, or anyone around you, I already let it slide when you used them against Shimmer." She reminded me to which I nodded.
Shimmer poked her head between me and Father, "Speaking of me, mind filling me in as to what you're talking about?" She requested, to which Freminet handed her a book titled encyclopedia of Elementals.
"Give this a read when you have time." He told her, to which Shimmer immediately began readng to figure out what was happening right now.
"Based on what Shimmer told me, we'll be wishing Celestia was still a thing..." I tell them, catching the attention of the two Archon halves and Neuvillette.
After having relayed what I was told, "What I'm getting from this is that we better hope that whatever a Fatalis is doesn't show up." Neuvillette summarized after my explanation.
I nod as I notice Shimmer hand the encyclopedia back to Freminet, "Honestly, just getting a cryptic comment like that doesn't seem that much more dangerous than what we already face today." Lyney noted, to which Shimmer just slapped him to everyone's surprise.
"Do not speak like that of a monstruosity that might be listening!!" She exclaimed in warning, causing us to tense up slightly, "If you want to know about what a Fatalis is capable of then listen to what ONE can do: Destroy all of Teyvat in one day, regenerate from a single scale, it's fire can melt living creatures and it's SMARTER THAN HUMANS!!!" She listed, causing a shiver to run up my back.
"Surely you must be exaggerating, nothing can be that powerful." Lynette deduce, her voice betraying a little of worry, "Would I be this worried if I was kidding?" Shimmer retorted.
Noticing she cleared her throat a bit, Shimmer began talking.
Shimmer's POV.
"And that's the story of the ancient civilization." I finished retelling much to their shock, "Do you have any questions before we move on to the strategies to deal with the monsters?" I aksed them, prompting them to ponder anything they were unsure about.
Neuvillette made a hand motion to catch my attention, "Do you speak true that they almost hunted an entire species to extintion just to build a tower?" He asked.
I nodded to that, "As far as I know, they hunted so many Kushala Daoras that they were considered an endangered species even by Elder Dragon standards." I explain the idea.
"Right, I wanted to ask about that, what are Elder Dragons?" Arlecchino asked me, "Basically they're the most powerful classification just behind Black Dragons, of which Fatalis is a part of, considered living natural disasters, there is also a Red Dragon classification, but there's only one known assigned species." I explain, referring to the unnamed Safi'Jiiva.
Waiting a little longer, I saw that no one was asking questions, "If there are no more questions, let's discuss the basics on how to deal with monsters." I bring up, "Starting with elements, remember to expect the unexpected, for example, you wouldn't expect fire to be effective against a water monster right? But consider that there's this Elder Dragon called Namielle that is weak to fire cause the heat drains the moisture from it's body." I explain the basics on how elements should be approached.
"Anything more on the nose?" Gloom questioned with a raised eyebrow, "Something that doesn't require these mental gymnastics I mean." She clarified to avoid confusion.
Thinking about it a bit, I come up with something, "Dragon element, the monsters that have it for some reason are weak to the thunder element, also, Deviljho, remember to harvest the parts of those you kill cause they can be used to make weapons that weaken an Elder Dragon's abilities."
"What about the complex stuff?" Focalors asked, taking notes to more easily remember, "The more complex stuff honestly comes from the Frontiers, which is gone, I don't know what happened to it story wise, that wasn't given an official explanation in my world, but since it's gone, there's no need to worry." I reassure.
"Okay, I do have one last question." Gloom starts, "What is the Equal Dragon Weapon?" She asked, "You mentioned it in passing, but didn't really elaborate." She pointed out.
"Oh that... The best way to describe it is a frankenstein abomination of monster's body part to create the ultimate living weapon." I butcher together a description to make sense of it.
Arlecchino's POV.
Heaing that description made me step back in surprise, and I noticed Gloom doing the same, "That can't be..." I mutter to myself, remembering something.
Gloom put her hands on Shimmer's shoulders, "Are you sure that can be an accurate description?" She asked worriedly.
Shimmer nodded in confirmation causing me to put my hand on my forehead, "We faced it in combat ten years ago." I tell her causing everyone else to put their hands on their faces as they remember the occurance.
