EXCERPT. "What do you mean?" "What I mean Ethan is that i can't live with a man who i am not married to." Maria snapped at me, her face flushed with emotion. This was the first time she had ever raised her voice at me. I could tell she was hurting. "So what do you want me to do?" Though i asked, a part of me already had a clue as to what she might say. "A divorce. I want you to divorce her so-." "I can't" I quickly cut her off. "Why not? Is there some law which says you can't?!" Maria paused. Her body trembling with rage," For God sake you were drunk Ethan! So was she! You have enough reason to get.-" "That's not what I meant." "Then what do you mean?" I didn't understand it myself. I had no idea what had come over me, but the flame. It burned deep inside my chest. I had to understand what it meant. "I want to feel it." "Feel what Ethan? You're not making any sense!" "I'm not stupid. Even though I was drunk i still had some Sense. There's no way i could have married her if i didn't have a reason. If i didn't feel something." "What are you trying to say to me Ethan." Maria slowly approached me, tears dripping down her face. I looked away from her, i didn't want my gaze to meet hers. I knew what i was doing wasn't right, i just couldn't stop myself. I had to find out what happened that night. "What I'm trying to say is that. I need to feel it. I need to understand what i felt for her that made me marry her. I need to understand that feeling and until i get that... I can't divorce her." "What?" "I'm sorry Maria." I knew i had hurt her, i knew what i was doing was wrong. But there was nothing more i could do. My mind was made up.

A thrilling investigation.

I watched the clock tick away in silence. It had been two hours since Andrew left me to go carry out some investigations. Since that time i had been stuck in my room, actively trying to recall the events of that night. If i remembered correctly, after i left the roof i went straight to the hotel bar. I had it emptied out so that no one could see me, especially not the media.

I got some vodka from the bartender then proceeded to the elevator. I stopped at the Fifteenth floor which was a special floor i had reserved for my family, incase they ever visited. That floor was always empty, the doors locked. During the design plan, i made sure that floor was well equipped with a gym, an indoor game room and a pool.

Anytime i was at the hotel and needed some time alone, i always went to the pool. Watching the water gave me calm. That was the last place i remembered going that night. Everyone knew that floor was off limits. No one ever ventured there. If i had married a woman that night, it was most likely that i met her there. But who in their right senses would defy me by entering that floor?

'Maybe she planned it out?'

'Maybe she followed me and ensured i got married to her?'

'Was i seduced?'

'No! Even when drunk I'm not that stupid!'

'A stalker then?'

"Ahh" I exclaimed, feeling overwhelmed by the thoughts running through my head.

'Janet, who are you?'

*DING!* "Order up!" I had already settled into my job. I missed this feeling, the feeling of being useful. The customers kept giving positive reviews about my cooking. Some even said they'd continue to come as long as I worked here. This made me so excited. I promised my customers that I'd work harder than ever before.

"A special order. One round of fried rice to go." Mirabella informed me as she dropped a note for me with the customers order.

"On it!" I yelled. It took a while, but i got it done. "Here you go." I handed the packagd food over to Mirabella.

"The customer wants it hand delivered." She passed the food the back to me.

"Alright."

I walked out of the kitchen, the package in my hand. I followed Mirabella's directions and headed straight for the customers table.

"Andrew what a pleasant surprise." I exclaimed as i slowly dropped the plate Infront of him. "Why are you here, it's still a working hour."

"I know, i had to run an errand for my boss and i got hungry so i decided to stop by to pickup some lunch."

"That's amazing. What errand were you sent on?"

"It's kind of a secret. But to put it planly; I'm looking for someone."

"Oh, well i hope you find it, i mean her, i mean the person cus I don't know it's gender, her or his gender. I'm sorry, you should go or stay." I fumbled over my words. What was i thinking? I embarrassed myself Infront of Andrew again! Oh, i wished the ground would swallow me.

"It's okay. And you're right i have to get going. This was nice. Bye." He said before walking out of the restaurant. Oh, when would i finally act normal around him? I asked myself, my head down as i walked back to the kitchen in shame.

*KNOCK* KNOCK*

"Come in." I already knew it was Andrew.

"What took you so long?"

"Sorry Sir. I had to pick up some lunch."

"It's fine, what did you dig up " I adjusted my sitting position such that i faced Andrew.

"Well Sir you won't believe it." Andrew passed some documents over to me. " It was judge Damian Spencer that wedded you. He said he was working late when he got a call from you asking him to wed you and a woman you were with. He said he was surprised but he knew you too well, you never joked around. He agreeded to it then you ended the call." He paused, then handed over to me another set of documents.

"The judge said he waited for about thirty minutes before you rushed into his office. You were carrying a woman on your back. He said he was shocked and tried to check up on the lady but you kept insistinf she was fine and he should just proceed with the marriage. He did note that you looked rather questionable at that hour but he waved it off. He didn't want you getting angry with him."

Andrew kept pausing abruptly to see if i we react but i didn't. I simply crossed my legs, my attention wrapped around his story.

"Ehem." He coughed before continuing, it appeared my silence gave him the chills, " The judge asked for both your names and concluded everything with your signatures. He said the woman was oddly frail at that moment, but she managed to maintain hold of the pen then signed her signature on the certificate. The judge tried to ask the woman if she was forced into it but she shook her head everytime he'd ask her. After everything was over, you rushed out of the judges office, the woman was still on your back. He told me finally, that before you left you instructed him to process the certificate as soon as possible." Andrew ended.

"Sir? Don't you have anything to say?"

I sighed deeply. I stood, arranged myself before walking to the window. I stared out from it, the day was lovely.

"Sir your not saying anything?" Andrew questioned. I could sense him trembling from behind me.

"Andrew."

"Yes Sir."

"Do you know why people write fantasy novels?"

"No sir."

"It's because ever once in a while they get crazy ideas and put them down in writing. Andrew."

"Yes Sir. I think you'll be better off as a writer than a PA." I turned to him, my voice remaining calm as i spoke. "How do you expect my me to believe a cock and bull story like that?"

"Well Sir..."

"Do you yourself believe in the story you just told me?"

"Well Y-yes Sir."

"Oh really." I chuckled softly, "Why's that?"

"Because there's proof Sir. The call logs. It shoes that you called him at the time he stated."

"That doesn't prove anything." I dismissed him calmly. I had no idea why but after listening to Andrew's story i felt awfully calm. I didn't believe his story but it still made me wonder how I could ever attempt something like that. The thought of it amused me.

"Well Sir i would have shown you CCTV evidence but some one got to it first."

"What do you mean?" The calm within me dissipated within an instant.

"Someone requested for the footage before us. So the Courthouse said we'd have to wait till tomorrow before we got our hands in a copy of the footage."

"Who would request something like that?"

"I asked them too sir but they didn't give me any tangible information. We'll just have to wait until after the wedding tomorrow."

"Till tomorrow?" It wasn't an unreasonable wait for the footage, but still. There was an endless list of things that could go wrong before, during and after the wedding ceremony. On the other hand, how could I possibly get married whilst being married?! I had to find that woman and terminate our marriage fast. Hopefully without Maria ever finding out.

"Here is the package Miss." A man dressed in an all black attire handed a document over to Maria. They had met in a coffee shop to avoid suspicious.

"Thank you." Maria replied. She was dressed in incognito to prevent anyone from recognizing her. She passed a brown envelope over to the man. "There's your full pay plus a little extra."

"Thank you Miss." He glanced into the envelope before swiftly placing it in his chest pocket. Just like that their meeting ended as soon as it had began.

Maria couldn't handle her anxiety on the drive home. Her mind went round in circles as she tried to imagine what could be hidden in the document. Maybe it was a list of Ethan's shady dealings? Or maybe he was a serial killer? She thought up different possibilities.

The moment the car stopped, she ran into get house. She didn't even greet her father as she usually did. In her room, she locked the door then began to empty out the envelope. From it, a flash drive fell out. Maria decided to take a look at it before moving to other documents. She connected the flash to her laptop. The only thing on it was a video. She took in several deep breaths before pressing play.

Maria covered her mouth with her hands to muffle her scream -- she didn't want to draw any attention from her household.

*SMASH!* After watching the video, Maria threw her laptop away, sending it crashing unto the floor.
