Interrogation part 1

We both arrived; giving a small nod towards the police officer that was guarding the entrance. You showed my badge letting him know that I was from CAD. The officer gave me a nod as Oliver and I walked to the white lines marking where the body was found.

"Webb, go get more information from the employee that found the body; I will talk to the forensics" Oliver gave you a quick nod as he made his way towards the casino employee; his tallness making him look down on everyone as he made his way across the casino. 'He will be fine by himself' I thought as I went to talk with forensics.

"Good morning, What can you tell me about the deceased?" My voice comes out professional as I wait for the forensics to answer.

"Well, we think the time of death was around 1:30 to 2:00 am. He was stabbed twice in the abdomen which led to the person losing a lot of blood. We also found rests of sedatives on his drink. We can only assume he was sedated before he was stabbed." I write the most important things whispering a small "thanks" as I make my way to Oliver.

"So, here is what we got. The victim was sedated then stabbed; we can assume that is why they didn't scream. The sedation was in his glass, so we have to talk to the bartender. He was stabbed twice in the stomach; the victim lost a lot of blood hence why he died. We will have to go see the body to know more about that. The killer must have had some kind of experience since the victim was in the darkest area of the casino. It looks like the killer waited until the victim was in this area to sedate him and kill him." I finished earning a surprised look from Oliver.

"Okay, then we are looking for someone that ordered a vodka on the rocks to give it to the victim" Oliver added; I gave a small nod before saying.

"Or someone close enough to slip a sedation into his drink" my eyebrows furrow as curiosity curses through my mind. "Go talk to the bartender; I'll talk to the staff. I'll call you when I get access to the cameras." I made my way towards the staff showing my ID.

"Good morning, may I ask a few questions at the employees that were working the night of the murder?" The employees looked at each other until three of them stepped forwards letting me know that they had worked that night. "Perfect, the three of you may need to go to the station with me for some questioning." I looked towards the two women to say "You two please take me to where the cameras are located" I looked at the other man that stood there telling him to "wait here; do not talk to anyone" I gave him a nod as I made my way to the camera room following the two ladies. I made eye contact with Oliver giving him a small nod as I passed by him letting him know that he should follow me to the cameras. We took a look at the footage of the night.

Our victim had been playing roulette. He won two rounds almost winning 20,000 dollars. Then he made his way towards the bar getting a drink, and going back to the game. The mass of bodies making it impossible to see what happened with the drink. After a few minutes; the victim moved to the game where he was killed. The spot being too dark to see who killed him. A body approached the victim; the employee who found him left the screen for a while before going back towards the body after calling the police. My eyes furrowed in confusion mind thinking instantly 'that's unusual'. My mind looking for explanations before you could conjure any thoughts about the crime Oliver called out my name gaining my attention.

"We should take the employees to question what they know" I gave a nod and turned my head towards the security guy that guarded the camera room.

"Please send a copy of the recording to the CAD." I said before calling the station to ask for three police cars to escort the employees to the station. Oliver's hand came to rest on my wrist pulling me aside.

"Three cars?" He asked curiously.

"Yes, three cars. We can't have them talking to each other on the way to the station. We don't know what they could tell us that is important for the investigation" I said seeing surprise glide in his face at my quick thinking. My mind had plenty of reasons why we should not let them be together, but I could not tell him that right now.

The cars came as I led each employee into each car. While Oliver and I made our way to my car to head towards the station. The day had been full of work as we let out a sigh going to the station to fully interrogate the employees.

"Good afternoon, please make your way towards the interrogation room one by one. Please stay in separate rooms until the interrogation is over. Remember you are in no trouble; we just want to understand what happened that night" I gave a soft smile as I looked at the names. "Let's start with Yeanah Smith; please step inside interrogation room 1, Merla Johnson interrogation room two, and Michael Wilson interrogation room three. Thank you for cooperating we will be with each of you shortly." I smiled waiting for the employees to go to their assigned rooms. Once they were all in their rooms; I made my way to Oliver.

"Okay so since you are new here I will let you observe the first time I ask miss Smith, and then you can ask the other two. I need to make sure you know the basics of interrogation." I speak softly to him trying to see how much he knows about interrogation. I nod towards the first door to start with Miss. Smith. Before I entered; turned towards Oliver to tell him.

"There is something weird about the tape. Did you notice that the employee that found the body disappeared for 5 minutes before going back to the body? I have a hypothesis; I think one of them had something to do with the death, but I am not fully sure yet." I stated my thoughts to let him know what we were looking out for. My hand holds the door handle to go inside the room, but Oliver stops me.

"I will be with you; we will find out who killed him. I will always side with you; no matter. We are partners. We always have each other's backs." I gave a small smile. A part of me was glad that he said he would take my side. My mind going to the past immediately thinking of my last partner. He never sided with me; he was so different from Oliver. I push the thoughts away as we enter the room. This investigation had to be done meticulously. We could not show them that we thought one of them could be a suspect. I took a deep breath as I started the interrogation.

"Good afternoon, Miss Smith. How are you feeling?" The woman gave a small smile while giving an "I've been okay considering everything that has been happening".
