A new partner

I let out a small yawn as my hands stretch; bones cracking nicely as I try to shake off the tiredness of the night. A hand comes down to stop the alarm; making my way towards the bathroom to take a quick shower, get dressed, eat some breakfast, and head to work.

I make my way to my office to find the General standing at the door.

"Good morning General, what may I help you with?" I ask politely; being curious at his presence. The General was the head of the company, so he only appeared when something was important.

"Good morning Sihara, we have a new detective that graduated a month ago. He will be working with you from now on as you are the only detective that doesn't have a partner." My eyes widen at his words as I look past the general to see a tall man sitting on the chairs close to my desk. I look back at the general mind rushing with a million thoughts as I try my best to maintain my voice low.

"I don't work with partners. I can't have a boy that just graduated working on my cases. My cases are the most difficult. He just graduated; he knows nothing about how the real world works" I started saying, but before I could finish; the general interrupted.

"He graduated from CSA the best academy in the country. He graduated with a very good score; we are lucky we were able to contact him." The General continued "The kid has an impressive record; he is set to be the best of the best. We need him here."

"I also graduated from the CSA with the best score seen till this day, but the university and real life are two very different things. He knows absolutely nothing about how this job works." I finish trying to use everything in my power to change the General's mind, but he is too stubborn to listen.

"I know, you graduated from that academy, and look at you; you are the best detective we have. Just give the kid a chance. I left his record on your desk so that you take a look at his achievements. Sihara I know that after what happened it's difficult for you to work with partners, but it is necessary" My eyes close taking a small gulp of air at the mention of the accident; memories rush through my mind as I try to shake them away. "Just give the kid a try; if you find any reason to believe that he will just slow down the cases then; you can talk to me, and I will consider changing him." I give the older man a small nod as I make my way to my desk. I mumble a small "Good morning" as sit down to read the new cases. A rough hand appears in my vision; I looked up to find the boy that was previously sitting down extending his hand towards me. My hand comes up to meet his as I take a look at his physic. Brown hair with medium length covering his green eyes a mole landed on his cheek making him look more enticing. His pink lips gave a gentle smile; full lips making his face look even more handsome. His hand gave me a firm squeeze letting me feel his girth and strength. I move my hand away from his finishing the handshake.

"Good morning, I'm Oliver Webb. I'm very pleased to work with you" His voice was deep and raspy, but somehow comforting. His voice reminded me of honey.

"I'm Sihara Moore. Great that you are here!" Sarcasm dripped from my voice as I talked to him. I gave him a loop-sided smile as I handed the report of the case to him. A murder of a man in a casino; the murderer had escaped undetected by the multiple cameras. Since the killer was on the loose; you had to go to the crime scene to see what clues the murderer left.

"Moore? I've heard that before. Wait, are you the detective of the Johnson case?" Oliver's eyebrows moved together in curiosity as he asked me.

"Yes, I am" I said sounding uninterested in his talking, but a part of me was proud that he knew who I was. I gave him a quick nod. The case had been unresolved until I got the case. The General gave it to me after I convinced him that "Every case has a solution". I solved it in 2 weeks which made my career stand out. The other detectives were unable to resolve the case for 2 years, and suddenly a detective that no one knew solved it in two weeks? My career boosted from there.

"Wow, u-um I think that you did an awesome job with that case. They were so many clues that other detectives took for granted, but you were able to understand what happened. The way you expressed what happened was just magnificent; it was as if the clues had talked to you." Oliver said; excitement being reflected on his words while a small smirk lingered on his lips. I laughed a little trying to be polite.

"Well, what can I say. I graduated from the best." I gave him a little smirk being proud of my achievements.

"Right, you studied in the CSA. I've been following your career for a while. You are an excellent detective. I'm happy that I get to work with you. Well, shall we get going?" he said; my eyebrows furrowed slightly at the mention of "Following my career". I ignored this and gave him a nod before walking towards the parking lot to get into my car.

"This is my car." I said as I pressed the beeper of the keys towards my Camaro. Oliver's face changed to a slight surprise as I got in, and waited for Oliver to put on his seatbelt. I sighed; knowing he probably didn't have time to read about the case, so gave him a little summary as I drove to the crime scene. When I finished the summary, and we still had about 5 minutes to get to the casino. I stop at a red light and took advantage of the moment to move my hand to put on some music wanting to avoid any awkward silence. The music comes out too loud as Oliver and I wince at the volume. My hand moves to adjust the volume, but Oliver's hand had done the same thing. Our hands touch for a second; his hand completely engulfing mine. My eyes look towards his hand to see the visible veins and the way his knuckles protrude from his skin. His strength was evident on his hand as if the bulging muscles on his arms weren't enough to show how strong he was. My mouth waters slightly making me take a small gulp. Our eyes meet as I retreat my hand letting him lower the volume to a comfortable hum. Luckily, the light changes, and we continue our way towards the crime scene. It was going to be such a long day.
