CHAPTER 35
Inside a dim, spacious room sits a man with his devilish face that looks like it was about to split fire on someone. The man facing him from a distance sense his murderous aura, he wanted to leave the room ASAP, because a minute feels like an hour to him, and definitely he doesn't want to be in the same room with this devil of a man. This was killing him.
Lexus watches the man before him wobbling like an infant. "I hope it's a good news." He verbalized like he was announcing to the man wobbling, if it isn't, he will be toast.
The man with an ordinary apparel abruptly kneel down. His eyes widen at the devil's words. Clasping his hands together, he spoke. "We had no findings yet, but…"
"But, what?" Lexus cuts him off. He was anxious, annoyed, and scared to hear the news regarding Lily, it's been weeks and there's still nothing. No evidence or proof that his master was alive or dead.
Biting his lip, he answers. "We suspected that the master was carried so far away by the water's current, as we have found some fabric floating and it was the same kind she was wearing near the place's border. We don't know for sure, but we also speculated that there might be someone who found her earlier than us."
After the man told Lexus about it, the room was back to its calm solace standpoint. Without the presence of the sun's glaring rays, the room was as mysterious as the bottomless ocean, hiding the unknown from everyone.
Lexus was having the same speculation too, and the latter was more plausible. Even if it takes years, he will never stop searching for her. The only resort he could think of was to continue the hunt. He believes that his master is still alive and if this conviction won't die down, he will never give up and lose hope.
Glaring, Lexus spoke. "Continue the search," The man on his feet nods and left, relief. Relief that he survives, "Phew, I'm glad I can still see the light. The people residing in this mansion were weirdo's."
Back to the man inside the dark room.
Looking at the ceiling, he spoke. "I hope you're okay. May the stars guide me next to you." Lexus stretches his legs, leans backward and closes his eyes. He remembers the days when he was younger. He was complaining to her all the time, seeking her attention, but it was because he knew that if he won't be like that, he will never catch her eyes.
She never pays attention to anything that she finds useless, and so does interact to people. His master was an odd one, she only spent most of her time in the western part of the mansion or in her room. Lexus can't even imagine what fun is her life with that hobby.
"Stop following me." The black haired girl with her glaring golden eyes told the boy who was following her like a bodyguard.
"I won't!" A childish voice dissents the girl's order. With that, the girl stomps her foot angrily and face the boy. Putting her hands on her waist, she glares at him. "Hmmp! You better leave me be! I want to be alone, okay?"
The younger version of Lexus, again, oppose. "No! I will be there by your side, always!" At first, he didn't want to interact nor be with her, but as time pass by he got curious on her, so he started to befriend her by pestering. So now, he blurted everything that comes to his mind.
"No, thank you. You can leave now, and I don't need you by my side." The younger Lily didn't want to say hurtful words to him, but she can't tolerate him anymore. In order for this boy to leave, she needed to be mean. It's not necessary to be kind to anyone every time, though. She needs to make a boundary for herself. If she can't show respect to herself, why would others respect her.
The little boy was hurt by what she told him, but he didn't show it and instead tries to induce her. "Are you sure? It's hard to find someone who was faithfully loyal to you, you know."
Younger Lily frown, "And… are you?" She wants to mess with the boy a little, only a little. Lily finds him amusing, and she can see that he is easy to control, that's why she was infuriating him.
With an abrupt and clear voice, without hesitation, he proudly announced. "I am!"
"Then, can you protect me? If so, you can follow me everywhere, except when I'm changing clothes or taking a bath. Got that?" Lily started walking, leaving the boy.
The younger Lexus watched the girl's figure. Her white knee-length dress with purple laces and ribbons adorning it swayed as she moves. Thinking about her queries, he blushed and ran towards her.
When he finally caught up to her, he spoke stuttering, "I..i..i won't take a peek!" He was ashamed and flummoxed at the same time, how a girl like her can say that out loud.
"That's not what I'm asking you." She turns around glancing at his direction. "You're red like a tomato more like redder than a tomato."
When she told those things to him, he burst, turns out it was his last straw. "I know! I can protect you, and you asked me whether I got it or not… I mean about the changing and bathing thingy, so I answered you."
"Well, you're a pervert." Out of nowhere, Lily drops a comment, only to receive many opposing words. "Ayesh I got it, but you're still a pervert to me."
"I'm not!"
"No?"
"Yes!"
Reminiscing about their childhood really makes his mood pretty good. Lexus then opens his eyes and sat formally. He may be only a kid back then, but he treasured his promise to the girl who moved his heart.
He was constantly blaming himself for what happened to his master. Not only that, but he couldn't keep his promise to her. Even if she didn't, at least he will, but he too didn't. "So it's true. Promises meant to be broken."
Lexus sighs heavily and hangs his head down, imagining Lily's image, while he mutters. "A promise, for a promise. A broken promise, for a broken promise."
