Melting The Cold Female Duke

CHAPTER 32

Dandelion and Lily got along quite well as each day passes, even though there's still a little misunderstanding on some parts that would end the two quarrelling all day.

Things like that continue for days. Laughing, crying, mood swings, and other sorts of things and emotions, they experience it together fair and square.

Dandelion finds himself comfortable with the girl's presence, like she was there with him all his life. She was not the girl he used to imagine, the girl who had him fall down to earth with fire on his head.

Now, he thinks he was living in a dream, a fantasy of his. Losing memories must have made her personality change, too. That was he thought when he noticed her behavior to be somewhat different from that night.

But for a person to change 180 degree was unbelievable. Maybe quite impossible. A person will lose his or her memories, but never the nature instilled within.

As for what he can remember, she was totally different from what he saw in their fateful encounter. Uncultured, rude, bossy and rogue, he can't imagine she would apologize to him for a little slip of words only.

"I'm sorry! It's not what I mean! I mean… It's not what you think! I'm sorry!" Over and over, she said sorry like her life is depending on her words, that if she made a mistake she will be cast out.

Lily apologized, bowing her head down to show her sincerity. She doesn't want him to misunderstand something. She doesn't want to be kick out of the house, not yet. Her injuries were still trying to recover to its normal state and if she forces her body, for sure she's gonna be dead meat.

Dandelion tilts his head, asking what she was apologizing for. He was just asking her of what she thinks of him. It's not something bad, right?

"I know, it's not that I think of it in a bad way, but…" He paused, seeing her shaking her head down with her hands holding it. "HEY!"

"Stop shaking, I said it's fine. I know I'm not that ugly and so is my personality." He told her, continuing his exclamation.

Lily slightly frown at his narcissistic words of complement, while finally looking up at Dandelion, who utters her something funny with his joking tone. By the help of his funny words, she regained her normal cool and started laughing.

Like what he said, she does not finds him ugly, instead, she thinks of him as a god-sent messenger, for he has a top-notch appearance, and she never has the slightest doubt about him being a good person, after all, he was the one who saved her.

"I… You're not angry?" Lily asked softly, almost tearing up. She doesn't want to get kick out! Not in her current condition.

Dandelion pats her head, cheering her up again, but this time with honey-coated words. He reassures her that he was not angry, that in fact he was grateful that she saw his appearance pleasing.

After calming her, explaining everything was alright and that's there's no need to cry, he retracted his hand, but when he was about to, Lily complains.

"You don't like my hair, do you?"

'Ey what?' Dandelion really finds it hard to cope with her. Her mood swings were scary, he didn't understand where her reasons came from. She likes to bother with his appearance so much and such as small things, making it bigger, thus making them quarrel like kids.

"I like your hair, it's nice, but I have to take off my hand. I need to change the bandages of your head and leg, okay?"

He explained softly, not wanting to be misunderstood, as he didn't have the energy to retort back again and again. After making breakfast, cleaning the house and garden, after washing the bloody stained clothes, after confronting her, he was dead tired already. All he need is a good rest, that's all.

She nodded at him, feeling good. Her hair was nice and he likes it. It was pleasing to hear somebody praising you, whether be it only your hair.

While bandaging, they engage themselves talking on random things, most of it were lies coming from Dandelion. Even so, Lily believes him as she thinks he was really her husband who she heartlessly abandoned before, making her feels guilty.

"Hey, Eon, I don't want to be like this for a long period of time." She confessed, spreading her hands and eyes the man. "I want to recover quickly, I want to help you. I want to be a use of you, even though deep in your heart you have that small amount of hatred towards me."

Dandelion was taken aback at her confession. Who knows that his lie went deeper to her heart, his lying made her have the courage she has now.

Feeling somewhat heavy inside, he spoke in a gloomy voice. "Hmm… I'll bring a doctor to check you up, so you could get better quickly, and you're wrong, I don't hate you."

'I just loath you, that's the exact word, not hate.'

Hate is a simple, yet common way of saying you don't like that said person. He won't use that adjective to describe how he feels, it's kinda a bit exotic to use loath than hate. Loath, this adjective shows the unwillingness and a word uses to express if you strongly oppose something, and he was unwilling to let go of his revenge and strongly oppose to let her go without suffering twice the intensity of emotion he felt back then and now.

"Oh… that… Thank goodness! You don't hate me. I thought you did." Lily said, smiling, but looking down on her leg being bandage by Dandelion.

Dandelion didn't say anything, as it's not what he truly feels, he just continues bandaging her injured leg, looking grim.

"All done!" He exclaimed, hiding his emotion while dusting the nonexistent dust on his hands.

"Thank you." Lily thanked him softly, earning a broken smile from Dandelion, who tucked her to bed gently.

The sun is setting down, it's dazzling soft orange light glows faintly, leaving a promise that it will come back again tomorrow, showing its glory.

The duo stare at it, mesmerizes by its calm hue that's radiating from its core. "It's beautiful."

They spoke at the same time, making them stared at each other wide-eyed and speechless. After some time, they laughed, not knowing what to say.

"It's beautiful isn't?" Lily asked, not looking at Dandelion. She was truly amazed at the sight beholds before her. It feels like she longed for this kind of peace. These sensations, she was looking for these in her previous life (the old her) like a beggar. It's nice getting what you wanted after all those years of waiting.

Dandelion turns his head. "Yes. It's beautiful." He agreed to her words.

"Ah… oh…" Lily was baffled as he was facing her direction, not the sun's. "The sun's direction is that way, Eon."

She said giggling, while pointing the sun, making Dandelion crank his head forcefully to the side.

He steals a glance at Lily, wanting to know why she was giggling and when he saw her expression, he burst red, flustered and ashamed. "I KNOW!"
