Melting The Cold Female Duke

Chapter 17

Lexus POV

Knock. Knock.

-Who's there? It can't be master, can it?- I stood up, staggering and shirtless. Much to my expectation, it was her strict butler who showed up holding a towel.

"Be decent. You are asked to go to my master's office now." The butler strictly lectures and informs me, at the same time throws the towel he was holding at my face.

-Geez this old man. If my master doesn't treat you highly, then I have already made you a cripple.- "I know Michaelmas, you don't like me, but bear with it." I uttered, pulling the towel off my face.

The butler didn't like the man's words, so he gave him his brief conclusion about their relation. "She will get tired eventually at you." After saying those, he left.

His remarks pissed me off completely. I almost loses my cool. -I know that. You don't have to spit it on my face.-

Aside from that annoying crown prince, this strict butler was also hindering his and Lily's relation. From the very beginning, he already knew that entering such affair can draw a lot of hatred and disgust from various people. Even this former friends avoided him. He knew they were only scared. The people of Queran knew and witnessed how much the crown prince loved the female duke. Because of this reason alone, they distance themselves away from him to escape the wrath of the prince.

Their behavior made him realize something. He learned that each every individual priorities their safety and happiness more than the others. In regards about his affair with his master, it was his personal choice. He chose to enter that kind of relation, since it was his personal want. The feeling of being noticed by her, provided him happiness, so he can't just adhere to other people's opinion for their petty reasons.

Lexus was contented with the relation they had, but he wishes to take it to a new level, and it was possible to do that when his master was still carrying the cure. His hard work will go to waste only.

-Ahh~~ my eyes are still tired. I shouldn't have trouble myself last night with that innocent man.- I closed the door, then rubbed my chest. –Now, where's my shirt?

Lexus glances around the room, searching to where he had put his shirt. In a mere seconds, he found, what he was looking for. The shirt was sprawled on the ground like a trash. He remembers that last night, he took off his shirt and dive into the bed like a drunkard, then immediately falls asleep.

The man rubbed the tip of his nose with the thought of, -I should hurry, master might throw me out of the mansion if I will make her wait for too long.- He thenceforth tosses the towel on top of the bedsheet. Lexus picks up the black shirt on the ground, dusted it before he completely wore the shirt.

He went out from his room, carrying the sword he received from Lily. The sword had a precious blue gems embedded into it. Two serpents coiled each other was drawn, it starts from the sword's grip up to its hilt. At the end of the serpents' mouth, a precious gemstone, a sapphire to be precise, can be seen almost swallowed by their mouths. The image of them was the evidence that he was fully recognized as Arcana's knight.

Two serpents coiling each other, like they were fighting to death, was the symbol of the estate of Arcana previously known as Erebour. But not all knights were given such exquisite sword, only those who had ranked higher were given such excellent weapon. Every sword that was given to the knights had different kind of colors and type of gems embedded into it.

As for Lexus case, his sword was special, its design was similar to the female duke's sword. When he first got it, he shamelessly brags about the new weapon to his comrades. He was so proud to receive such an exquisite sword.

The scenery of the garden can be viewed from where he stands. The people who served his master really takes good care of the estate seriously. Different types of flowers were planted there. Along with the great landscape, it made the garden like a fantasy place. Sadly, the garden was forbidden to enter by anyone except for the gardeners. Similar to the owner itself, both were hard to approach.

-But that what makes that place mysteriously beautiful, like my master.- He thought whilst hastening his steps.

While walking through the hallway, he happens to hear the maid's conversation. These maids were the exact servants Lily had *bug somebody's room too. (Dictionary form of snoop or eavesdrop.)

[1] "Did the duke really forgot her memories?" The one, carrying a basket full of laundry, asked the two girls.

[2] "I think so, but not all of it, I think?" The girl in the middle of the two named Penelope answered, but was unsure. Penelope was a blonde with deep onyx eyes. The girl was a bit cold and frank when she expresses her opinions.

[3] "Hush, you might get your head separated from your body if you keep gossiping that topic." The girl on the left side near the flowers also carrying laundry warned them.

[1] "We are just concerned for the female duke, Alisha." Refutes the maid who opened the conversation.

[2] "Yeah, you're so overreacting, Ali…" The blonde maid agrees. Just then, Lexus passed them making them gasps, and they hastily bow their heads.

Their eyes widened, and they keep glancing at each other. Alisha, one of the maids, glanced back at the night and murmured, "Now we're doom."

Everyone knew that the knight was very loyal to the female duke. They were so scared at what that knight would tell the terrifying duke about them. If the duke calls them, they already know why.

[1] "This is bad." States the first maid.

[2] "We should say our prayers." Penelope added seriously.

[3] "This is all your fault, Angeline." Alisha glared at the girl.

[1] "Hey!!!" the maid whose name was mentioned earlier refuted. –Why am I the only one?- She contradicted Alisha's accusation.

The two repeatedly scolds the maid called Angeline. After all, she was the one who started it first. Now they got themselves in real trouble. Is it best to say they win the lottery big time?
