Meeting of past and future

"I don't know if you ever heard of a ferry that had sunk by the Korean peninsula, that carried a student from high school from Ansan city and other families and civilians… To put it short… I was one of the few people who survived it. But I had a friend who showed me how to play Secret, who died there." Shan was factual with his story-telling. He heard a few gasps from the audience, but no one was as baffled as he thought they would be so he continued.

"They told us to keep holding onto something and wait to be rescued. It felt off to me, so I decided to run away. My friend Woojin joined me. I held his hand when a wave washed us out, I was caught. He wasn't." Another pause for them to take it in. Nobody asked a thing, and somehow Shan felt okay with telling everything. 

Before he would be ashamed that he was the only one to survive, he was ashamed that he tried to commit suicide and that he was such a bungler that he wasn't even successful.
