Chapter 61: Been a while

Within the vast expanse of the training room of the academy that I joined after giving that speech about the DC, the magical lighting artifacts bathed the space in a sterile glow.

I stood alone, surrounded by robots of adversaries created from that freak of a scientist Gideon that flickered to life, challenging me in an orchestrated dance of combat.

Lostvayne gleamed in the harsh light as I unsheathed it, the hum of the blade cutting through the quiet hum of machinery.

The robotic opponents advanced, and with a surge of energy, I engaged, the clang of metal reverberating through the confined space. My movements were a dance of precision and power, the sword an extension of my intent.

Each strike was met with a calculated counter, the training room becoming a symphony of simulated combat. The walls echoed with the rhythmic clashing as I seamlessly transitioned between offensive and defensive maneuvers.

The training room's floor bore witness to the intensity of my focus, the echoes of footsteps punctuating the swift exchanges. Sweeping arcs of the blade filled the air, leaving traces of luminescent trails that lingered for a moment before dissipating.

As the adversaries multiplied, I pushed myself harder, Lostvayne and my arm becoming a blur of motion. Beads of sweat formed on my forehead, a testament to the exertion within this controlled arena. The training room's environment responded dynamically, adjusting to my actions and intensifying the challenge.

With a final, decisive strike, the robotic adversaries vanished, leaving the training room in silence. I stood in the center, chest rising and falling with controlled breaths.

"Great, im definitly getting closer to Arthur's level of swordmanship, yet im still far away from reaching real Meliodas's 3000 years of experience." I cleaned my wet face with a towel.

As I caught my breath in the aftermath of rigorous training, the door to the training room creaked open, revealing a familiar figure bathed in the soft glow of the corridor lights. Elizabeth, bearing the same warmth in her eyes, stood there with a smile.

"Meliodas, it has been a while." She called, her voice carrying a sense and joy and nostalgia.

A grin stretched across my face as I turned to face her. "Elizabeth! Come in, come in!." The years apart seemed to dissolve as we closed the distance, sharing a heartfelt embrace.

As we pulled away, the room felt alive with the energy of rekindled friendship. Elizabeth's eyes sparkled with an unspoken understanding, and it was clear that time hadn't erased the bond we once shared.

We settled into a couple of chairs, and the conversation flowed effortlessly. "Elizabeth, it's incredible to finally sit down and catch up. I can't believe it's almost been four years since we last saw each other."

Approving, she said pushing me slightly with her. "Time really flies, Meliodas. I heard you became quite the adventurer, right? Dragon Sin of Wrath~. Tell me, what kind of adventures have you been on?"

Recalling all those memories, I started recounting. "Oh, you know, the usual. Battling mana beasts, exploring distant lands, and occasionally fighting some criminals. The adventurer's life, as they say."

Resting her hand on my shoulder, she said. "That sounds so exciting! I really wanted to be there with you, and share all those fights and memories together."

"Dont worry Elizabeth, we still have a lot to go, you are only 13 years while im 12 so there is still a lot of time for us to do all kinds of adventures! What about you? What were you doing during this time?" I placed my hand on her shoulder.

"Just like you left me, I was training with my grandfather on magic and mana assimilation. It's been challenging but rewarding, now I can efficietly use healing and wind spells!" She proudly said, as she continued. "What about you? Any new techniques or powers?

"Well, I've been refining my sword skills and even learned a few new techniques. You'll have to see them in action sometime." I replied with a grin.

With a smile, she responded. "I'd love to!"

"Did you make some friends or do you still have that shy personality? Cause I see this pendant on your neck maybe its a friend who gave it to you?" I pointed my finger to the pendant.

"Well my only friends are my sister and Lilia who I only met at school.".Touching her own pendant, she continued. "As for this pendant its Grandfather who gave it to me, he said it has a connection to our family's magical lineage."

Streching my hands up, I said. "Family legacies are truly something. Speaking of your grandfather, how's Virion, I missed him too."

"He's doing well, thanks for asking. Still stubborn as ever, but I wouldn't have it any other way." She started laughting as she continued. "He's showing off and bragging about you and Arthur, especially you since your name became famous to everyone he meets, hehe."

"That's great, he never changes. Family is important." Leaning forwards closer to her face with a amused grin, I asked. "So, aside from magical training, any other highlights in the past few years?"

Elizabeth blushes slighlty while replying. "Well, there was this festival in my hometown. I may have won the magic competition."

Teasingly I replied. "Oh, a prodigy in both magic and charm, it seems. Shishishi I'm not surprised."

Playfully nudging me, Elizabeth asked. "And what about you, adventurer extraordinaire? Any romantic escapades in your tales?"

"Well, there might have been a few encounters with princesses and noble ladies. But nothing compared to our childhood adventures." I crossedy arms in front of me.

Softly smiling, she expressed "Those were the days, weren't they? Running through fields, imagining grand quests. And training and playing together, I miss those moments."

Nodding my head, I said. "Me too. You know, Elizabeth, even with all the adventures, there's something special about these simple conversations, especially with you."

Slightly blushing again, she replied "I couldn't agree more. It feels like no time has passed at all when we're together like this." She started moving her hand closer to mine.

Noticing this, I moved mine towards her too, and once we made physical contact, and interlocked our fingers together, we leaned our shoulders on each other. It was a moment of calmness I never felt before, I felt like I could stay like that for hours.

I know it for a fact that I did not get Meliodas memories or experience so im not originaly in love with Elizabeth, but I guess all the time I spent with her made me start liking staying with her. I wouldn't say its love but more like... Attraction and affection. I just love being with her...

The conversation continued in the same position, weaving through tales of adventure, magical training, and shared memories. Hours passed like minutes, and in the warmth of the moment, the unspoken connection between me and Elizabeth deepened.

Elizabeth spoke of her adventures, the challenges she faced. I, in turn, recounted tales of my training, the battles, and the growth I experienced in the pursuit of my goals.

Amidst the exchange of stories, a comfortable silence settled between us. It was then that I noticed the subtle change in Elizabeth's gaze, a fleeting warmth that lingered in her eyes. Unbeknownst to me, her heart echoed a sentiment similar to mine, a quiet longing masked by the familiarity of friendship.

As the night unfolded and while walking her to her dorm, the atmosphere became a sanctuary for shared secrets and unspoken emotions. "Well I dont think I will be able to go any furthur without getting my ass kicked by the girls." I joked in front of the females dorm.

"Hehehe, I really enjoyed today. Student council duties are tiring but I felt all the fatique vanish with that time with you." She said.

"Same, shishishi." I rubbed under my nose.

"Let's meet again tomorow okay?" As she said that, Elizabeth suddently hugged me tightly and ran to her room, dazzeled looking at her figure getting smaller and smaller.

Placing my fingers on my chin I declared. "Okay its confirmed, she has bigger ones than Lucy."

"What does she have bigger than me?" Suddently Lucy's voice was heard behind me.

"Huh? Oh sheeeee~... She has bigger eyes than you! What are you doing here anyways?" I asked.

"Im going back to the dorms to wash and sleep after my training with Ash. Now, what are YOU doing here?" She asked back.

"I was just with Elizabeth, and I walked with her till her dorm as you can see." I explained.

"Tch, again that girl..." She just left me and went to her dorms as well.

"What is going on with her?" I asked myself, as if I didn't know what is happening. In other words, playing it dumb.
