Family Gathering (part 1)

Rain and Sophie again got up in the morning with puffy red eyes and Kat and Oliver looked concerned. Kat made Sophie and Rain share the room for a day as the kids will come and would need a bathroom or a room to use, that was only a reason as Kat and Oliver thought that the sisters had fought and put them together in a room that would make them face each other and talk it out. But the sisters were fine, Rain helped Sophie in braiding her hair while Sophie helped Rain in zipping her dress and giving her advice on her dress and makeup. The sister without even saying made a pact of not talking about the things of last night and only concentrated on today's day.

The clothes were comfortable so Rain and Sophie were ready at 11 am and waited for their parents to get ready.

Rain was standing in front of the mirror in her room looking at herself, she had straightened her hair with an inside curl at the end, with the help of Sophie, her plain wine red-colored, the shin-length dress was looking smooth and was hugging her slim build body perfectly, she looked pretty.

"What do you think?" She asked while showing Sophie two shades of lipstick.

Sophie looked at both of them and said, "Um, don't you have a shade of wine red color it would look good."

Rain started to go through her makeup pouch which had some brand new make items, she bought just yesterday, and took out a lip balm with a red tint to it with a burgundy colored lipstick. "Now, which one?" she asked showing both of them to Sophie, who was sitting on the bed.

"That one," Sophie said pointing at the lip balm with a red tint.

"Yeah. I was thinking the same." Rain said turning around and applying the lip balm on.

"Too much?" She asked again while turning towards Sophie and posing in front of her, pouting then smiling then pouting again. Sophie giggled and said, "No, you look pretty."

With a satisfied grin, Rain turned to watch herself for the last time in the mirror after she was done she took out a comb from her pouch and sat beside Sophie," Turn around. " She ordered.

"What? Why?" Sophie asked.

"You look too uptight in that hairstyle…"

"But I love it…" Sophie protested trying to get up.

Rain caught her by her hands and said," I won't remove braids from both sides. I am only going to remove it from your right, okay?"

"Sophie looked at herself in the mirror that was in front of her and then looked at Rain, "Will you put them on again if I don't like it?"

Rain nodded smiling and Sophie sat in front of her while her back faced her. Slowly Rain started removing the tight braid from the left side and then made Sophie face her. She started to flatten the hairs that are little curled up because of the braid and then pushed them back with her hand.

Kat knocked on the door of Rain's room and after few minutes Sophie was standing in front of her while Rain was not inside, she looked at Sophie, her hair was braided on the right side only and was let loose on the left, she had put just red-tinted lip balm which matched with her maroon color dress very well, she was looking just as Kat expected her too, smart and beautiful.

"Where is Rain?" Kat asked

"Here" Rain came out of her bathroom while holding the dress up with her two hands and smiled at Kat. Kat was happy at the way she was dressed and looking.

"Come on down, it's time, they will arrive at any moment." Kat smiled gesturing them to come.

Kat started going down the stairs while Sophie followed her coping the way Rain was holding her dress with her hands and Oliver chuckled, For him, they both were looking just like each other, with red dresses, red lipstick, and bright smiles. But Kat could easily see the difference between the two of them.

Rain was the kind, strong, ambitious and sweet type, her eyes always looked kind and big, she rarely laughed or smiled in front of them but her smiles were genuine whenever she did, she hated dressing up but had a peculiar teste when she wanted to dress up, she was like a mother, maybe because she had to look after Sophie, with seeing all this in the foster care Kat loved her even more and wanted to give her everything.

While Sophie was wild, smart, brave, and charming, even as a kid she did all the things to please everyone around her to make them like her, when Kat was in foster care, Sophie was the first child who offered the hand and helped them, Oliver loved her for her charm but Kat loved her for her smartness, attentive eyes and bright vibes, she always wears a smile, but Kat saw her looking at everyone, her eyes may show kindness and sweetness but her gaze showed how smart and detail-oriented she was.

She was sweet but she was also mysterious, with kindness and a sweet attitude showing on her face while her replies and acts were calculated and witty. Rain and Sophie were opposite but just like yin and yang, perfect together, Rain stopped Sophie in her adventurous plans and Sophie helped Rain with her emotions. They both were in a way dependent on each other and thats what made Finns take both of them.

Kat saw Oliver hugging Sophie while Rain only did a quick side hug and sat on the sofa, it will take a lot to crack the walls around Rain she thought. Now they only needed to wait, everything was ready.

Rain sat on the sofa beside Oliver and Kat sat beside Oliver while Sophie was in the kitchen, probably tasting the dishes that were made.

Kat wore a soft blue color jumpsuit which was matching her sky blue color eyes and her long blond hair were braided. She was looking super pretty, while Oliver had just put on his dark blue colored shirt with jeans, which resulted in a good fight between him and Kat but he stuck to them.

A half-hour passed without a hint of any guest, they started talking, after about 10 minutes they all were talking and laughing about something that Sophie did when the doorbell rang. Oliver and Kat got up, while Oliver ran for the door, smoothing his hair at the same time, Kat moved towards the stairs, while Rain and Sophie followed her.

They all were nervous.

"Oliiiiii!!!" came a fragile old woman's voice and Rain saw a lady in her 70s or 80s hugging Oliver, Rain looked at Kat who was smiling and nudge her with her elbow, Kat surprised looked at her and mouthed ohh, "Your grandma, Oli's mom." She bent down and muttered.

Mrs.Finn entered the house after hugging her boy, and her eyes fell on a doll-like small girl in red smiling at her. She smiled back, "And you must be little Sophie, my dear." She said while moving towards her, Sophie nodded and ran and hugged her.

Mrs.Finn was taken by surprise at this sudden hug but quickly hugged her back, "Oh we have a hugger in our family now." She said laughing merely.

Kat pushed Rain softly to go in front of her and Rain looked at her anxiously. Kat smiled and pushed her again, and she was out Mrs. Finn's eyes moved towards Rain and after hugging Sophie she smiled, "And this must be our Rain," Sophie took hold of Mrs. Finn's hand and started to escort her towards Rain, "Aren't you a little lady." Mrs. Finn said and Sophie blushed.

Oliver was proud of Sophie and Rain as they both acted just like he thought they will and kat was looking at them smiling. Mrs.Finn hugged Rain, "Oh we have a non-hugger too." She chuckled and Rain giggled. Rain had never been hugged by someone old, it was not a bad thing, it was the warmest hug she ever had received. But as she took time to get comfortable and tried to hug her back and put her arms around Mrs. Finn, it was over, Mrs. Finn was now looking at her, "I think they caught two of the best kids."

Rain giggled again and Oliver chuckled, "I sometimes feel that way too… By the way mom when are others coming?"

"10-20 minutes, they were on their way when I last called them." Mrs. Finn replied while moving into the hall with Sophie holding her hands on her left and Rain holding on to her from her right.

Katt and Oliver looked at each other and smiled. For the first time, Kat ignored the fact that she was ignored by Oli's mother but instead was happy that she had easily accepted the kids.
