Chapter 1 - Transmigration

"Good job today Max! If you keep this up I'll make sure that you get a nice bonus at the end of the month." said Thomas Miller the head of the research department at B.F.G. Arms.

"Thank you sir!"

'Ahhh... what a pain, just let me go home already! I am already being paid enough I just want some time to sleep. It's already 9PM!' thought Max.

"Well, see you next week. Be sure to come in early, we have to finish the blueprints, so that, the finished product can roll out on time."

'NOOO! My sleep time...' screamed Max internally.

By the time Max managed to wrap everything up and get out of the building it was already 21:30 and he was dead tired.

'I'm in no shape to drive, I better call a taxi.'

While he called himself a taxi he went to sat down on a nearby bench to rest his tired legs. Right as he was about to reach the bench he experienced a sudden bout of dizzyness.

'Fuck, I worked too hard. Having 3 hours of sleep a day just to finish the blueprints of that blasted drone is not worth it.' he thought to himself.

'I can barely see the bench in front of me everything looks bent out of shape, I better sit down.'

But just as he sat down he heard a crack and felt his entire body imploding on itself, making him lose his consciusness instantly.

"Huhhh...? What, where am I?" asked Max after regaining consciousness and realizing that he couldn't see anything else other then infinite white in every direction.

"You are currently, in a space between worlds."

"What?! But why?"

"You tragically died because of a mistake the god of Earth made. He wanted to ask for your forgiveness personally, but the souls of the dead are supposed to be wiped clean of their memories and reincarnated in the same world they die in. The process is automatic and can't be stopped without it causing detrimental effects to the soul that is currently being processed."

"Because of that if your soul was not removed immediatelly from your world it would have caused bigger errors in the system." said a female voice seemingly from every direction all at once.

"I... I died, but how?" said Max trying to remember the last thing that happened to him.

"You got caught up in a small spacial distortion, that the god of your world has failed to prevent." informed him the mysterious voice.

"So, who are you? And what will happen to me now?"

"I am the goddess of the world you will be living in. Since your death was caused by an error on our part, your soul will be transmigrated to my world and you can choose a power from this list to aid you in your next life" said the voice, while a stone tablet made of white marble materialized in the hands of Max. The tablet had and incredible amount of text on it but somehow it was all still perfectly readable even though it was smaller than an page of A4 paper.

"The civilization on my world is in a similar state of development to how your old world's middle ages looked like, although with slight differences because of magic."

"Wait a minute! Your world has magic?!" asked Max.

"Yes, although only about 10% of the population is what you would call a mage. The rest can't make use of their mana to use magic. But even those who can't, are much stronger physically compared to people of your world because of the mana influencing their tissues. The same can be said for animals and monsters." explained the goddess.

"Only 10% huhh... then I guess it would be beneficial to choose a magical ability. Not like I would have choosen anything else, if I have a chance to use magic. Let's see."

The stone tablet listed abilities like: "Holy Swordsmanship, Spirit Archery, Elemental magic or Alchemy."

But there was only one ability that caught the eye of Max.

"I choose this one." said Max while pointing to one of the abilities, after browsing through the list.

"Are you sure? You can't change your choice later."

"Yes, without a doubt." said Max while thinking about everything he could achieve with his chosen ability: 'Creation Magic'.

"Very well." she said, while golden light particles rained down upon Max filling him with warmth.

"With your new ability I also made this world's system visible to you. It is what you would call a character sheet. Other people have it too but for them its invisible so don't go around telling everybody about it. This will help you better understand yourself and the world around you. If you want to bring up the control panel just think 'system'."

'System' thought Max and suddenly an interface came up showing his stats, abilities and skills.

Title: None

Abilities: System, Creation Magic

Skills: Modern Weapon Expert

-----------------------------------------------

"I already possess the skill 'Modern Weapon Expert' does this mean that I get to keep everything I learned in my own world?"

"Yes, every piece of knowledge you can remember is yours to keep although it seems only your weapon knowledge was advanced enough to warrant it being converted into a skill. However if you learn how to do something new it will also show up in the skills tab. Same with new abilities you acquire."

"Now then. I hope you are ready, because I will begin your transfer to my world, Gaia. Since your original body cannot be recovered on the account of it being dead, you will receive a new body based on the genetics of your old one. You will look like how you looked when you were 16, since thats when you reach the age of adulthood on Gaia. Best of luck to you in your new life."

And with that Max lost consiousness.
