Chapter 6 — The 7th Unit!

"It turned out to be normal," I said in surprise. I totally thought it to be some kind of iron fortress, but what was before me was just an ordinary hot spring inn with talismans around it.

"Our dormitory is surrounded by a protective field to shield against the shuukis. It used to belong to the mato exorcist," Kyouka explained, "Let's go inside, I'll introduce you to my squad members."

I nodded while pondering over her words.

Exorcist? That explains the use of talismans… I wonder if I could also create one?

Kyouka's squad members, huh… I wondered what they were like. I hoped they would kindly welcome me.

I then turned to Kyouka "Do you want me to wash your clothes?" I noticed her uniform was dirty from dirt and blood.

"No need. I can wash it myself!" She said with a red face. It seemed she's still awkward from earlier.

Sushu and Himari were confused by Kyouka's reaction, then they turned to me with curious and suspicious gazes.

Nei then approached me with a comforting cute smile," Don't worry, Nei just joined here too! Nei will help as your superior!"

"Thank you, but I can do everything myself, Nei-chan," I said with a warm smile while patting her small head.

"P-Please don't treat me like a child..!" she said cutely.

"Haha, okayyy. By the way, how old are you, Nei-chan?" I asked curiously.

"Nei is eleven."

Eleven, huh. Quite young to be in such a dangerous dimension. Geez, what are her parents thinking? Nevermind them, let this big brother protect you now.

"Nei's your superior here! Don't go against her orders!" Himari reminded me loudly.

"Understood,"

Anyways, they really threw every chores at me as soon as I arrived.

I first disposed of the garbage that had piled up in the dormitory. Wearing gloves, I also started to segregate the trash properly before disposing it to the trash bins located outside the dormitory. I went to the kitchen and started cooking joyfully, humming some pop songs from my previous world.

Fortunately, the kitchen had enough utensils and ingredients for cooking. So it wasn't too hard. A shame that I couldn't use my own utensils in my home.

"I have to make breakfast."

"I guess so," I shrugged my shoulders, "Breakfast will be ready soon."

"Make it quick," Himari ordered as she sat down on her seat. Her stomach was quite hungry.

The same situation happened with Shushu and Nei, so I greeted them and said breakfast would be ready soon.

Soon, everyone gathered and sat at the dining table. I then began to serve the steaming dishes on the table, causing them to look at it with sparkling eyes and drooling slightly but they quickly gulped down their saliva.

We started breakfast.

"So delicious~~ Your cooking is really fantastic! I want a second!" said Shushu while handing her empty rice bowl to me.

"Nei too!" said Nei, giving her the bowl as well.

"Did you dream of becoming a chef or something?" Kyouka inquired while also shoving her bowl at my face.

"No, I'm just used to it," I humbly said as I took their bowls and filled them with hot rice.

Then, I returned the bowl to them.

Well, the food would taste much better if I'd personally farmed the rice and raised the livestocks.

Yes, I know how to farm and raise animals like a professional. I bet even professionals won't be as good as me.

I then felt someone staring at me deeply. It was Himari who looked at me shyly.

"I-I want more too," she said as she handed her bowl.

I just smiled a little before picking up her bowl.

A few minutes later, we finished our breakfast. I gathered all the dishes to clean and dry with a towel.

"Chief, do we have a mission today since you're wearing a uniform?" Himari asked.

I glanced at them. Indeed, I noticed that Kyouka was wearing her military uniform unlike the others with casual clothes.

Kyouka shook her head, "I will head to Yuuki's school since I will officially transfer him to our department."

"Should I come along?" I asked.

Come to think of It, I forgot about my school after coming here.

"I'll take care of anything. You should focus on getting yourself used here."

I nodded.

Although quite a shame, I have to discard my life back on the mortal world. As for school, I didn't worry much since I had already graduated in advance with my perfect grades.

The dormitory was very spacious and large.

It had four two story buildings that were built in four directions with a large courtyard in the center.

I went to the second floor of the main building. This floor was where the girls' rooms were located. After reaching the second floor I suddenly felt that I had stepped into a very dangerous zone.

It would be troublesome if someone saw me, so I decided to head downstairs once again.

On the first floor, we had a kitchen, dining room,a living room, and gym room. There were also two guest rooms, but one of them turned into my own room. Alas, I still need to renovate it to suit my likings.

I went to the storage room(storehouse?) to get a bucket, mop, cleaning detergents and other cleaning tools.

I thought of partially transforming my arms, but the Shuuki got restrained by the exorcist barrier.

And not only that, it soon got scorched black before transforming to ashes.

"Caretaker, are you all right?"

After she heard the loud commotion, Nei approached me from behind.

"The Elite 7th Unit is stationed at the Southwest Demon Gate of Mato, so there are often Shuukis here."

"Southwest gate?" I asked, this is the first time I've heard of it.

"Mato is divided into the eight cardinal directions. And eight Anti-Demon Corps is stationed in each of those areas."

"Hm," I understood. I then thought that maybe the headquarters was located in the center of these eight cardinal directions.

"Of course, Nei is your superior, after all!" she replied cheerfully.

"Hey."

An annoyed voice resounded, but it was aimed at me.

We turned our head, seeing Himari with her arms crossed. From her quite sweaty appearance, she must have recently finished her training.

"Go make lunch, the chief will come home soon," she informed.

"Understood," I nodded, grabbing the cleaning tools to place it back in the warehouse.

Himari looked at me mysteriously.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" I asked with a raised brow.

"Why were you not scared when the shuuki attacked you? That's not the usual reaction of a normal civilian," she asked suspiciously.

Her attitude was normal since I acted differently from normal people. Usually, normal people would have panicked when faced with those terrifying monsters for the first time.

I can't help being calm. I've experienced death once. And I've experienced much in both lifetimes, making me possess a tough will.

"Should I really tell you?" I showed a mysterious smile.

Himari snorted.

"I'm not too curious about you. Just do what a slave should do."

"Roger~" I answered while smiling playfully.

I could see her eyes narrowing, but I decided to skip that. I soon started to cook for lunch.

Kyouka soon arrived just like what Himari said earlier. All the preparations for my transfer were complete, and that I could formally start working here.

"How do we know if there are Shuukis' coming?" I asked, I don't see any alarms here to alert them.

"About that—"

"Ahh!"

Before Kyouka could answer, Nei, who was sitting beside me, gasped.

"Good timing," Kyouka said with a smile, then she turned to Nei, "You saw anything?"

I looked at Nei in puzzlement. Is it related to her ability?

"Nei's a great clairvoyant, she let us know about Shuuki's attack," said Shushu.

"Clairvoyant?" I thought, but then guessed this powerful support ability was the reason why she was here.

"Umm… Ah….uh…"

But then I raised an eyebrow as I saw the sight of Nei, who has clairvoyant ability, stumbling around like a lost child.

Suddenly, Nei stared intently at a certain place.

"A gate has appeared, 5km to the north!" she shouted.

"Get ready to go," Kyouka said as she wore her katana, ``Prepare the vehicle!"

The girls went straight to their respective rooms to put on their combat uniforms.

Kyouka then turned to me, "Yuuki, wait at the front door."

I nodded and immediately moved. After a few minutes of waiting, I heard the sound of a car engine, when I turned to the source of the sound, I saw Himari driving a military jeep. Nei was in the passenger seat. Then, Shushu came out on her own motorbike.

They iimmediately headed in the direction Nei pointed.

"Wait! What about me? I can drive too!" I asked, sulking as I was left out.

"Ready?"

While I was wondering if I should do a partial transformation, I heard Kyouka's voice behind me.

"Time to go," she said, holding out her hand.

I nodded and uhesitatingly held her hand gently.

This will be my first mission in the Anti-Demon Corps.

I kissed the back of her hand, and just like yesterday, my body changed significantly to become a Slave Knight.

With Kyouka, who climbed onto my back, I followed after them.

I'll let them eat my dust for leaving me behind!
