Rohan's POV
I sat beside Helios in the computer room, my eyes scanning the lines of code on the screen in front of me. But my mind wasn't on the task at hand. It was on Valerie.
I couldn't shake off the feeling that she wasn't settled yet. Diana had been looking for every way to make Valerie look bad, to discredit her in front of the pack. But I knew Valerie, I knew she wasn't capable of the things Diana was accusing her of. She was kind, gentle, and fiercely protective of her children.
As I typed away on the keyboard, my thoughts drifted back to the way Valerie's eyes sparkled when she smiled, the way her hair fell in loose waves down her back. I had to admit, I was drawn to her. But I couldn't let my feelings get in the way of the task at hand. We had to find the missing children.
