357 Left No Crumbs

"Are you sure it's okay to leave like this?" Issac asked Maxi who was seated beside him in the large, stately carriage and had her eyes closed. She was not asleep, rather engaged in a meditation he had no doubt had to do with her earlier quarrel with Aldric. He looked out the window unsure as the carriage rocked softly, having begun its journey. 

He continued, "I mean, the both of you have practically been locked at the hips and it just seems weird you're leaving at a time he needs you the….." 

Issac trailed off when Maxi cut him off with a sharp look his way that almost made his heart stop. With that kindness in her eyes, If Issac didn't know Maxi so well, he would have reached for the door, shoved it open, and leaped for his life. That was scary. 

He stuttered, "I mean, you don't have to do…."
