Master Pei, Slow down on your Doting.

"It has always been a lifetime dream to marry the root of all evil."  Mosi Abena is a scholarship student at University of C in country C. Abena has always been a money grubber and her next goal is to marry rich. Just like her mother did. Valentine was the perfect opportunity to carry out her plan on Pei Feng, her coursemate from a wealthy background. Her plan was simple. She would lure her way to his bed during the Valentine staycation his family was hosting and knowing Pei Feng he would definitely take responsibility.  Except that she landed into the wrong bed. "Pei Shangdi? Aren't you….you...you are…"  "Little Peis older cousin? Yes."  "Ahhh…" her mouth was quickly covered by another. His palm smelled of her. Of course. This man had his hands roaming her body two minutes ago. Angrily...she threw the pillow at him. "You virile man."  Because it was dark, she couldn't see his expression and couldn't tell if he found her amusing or if he was mad. The man turned on the bedside lamp and Abena was caught in his smoldering eyes. Forehead glistening with sweat.  "You plan to cheat little Pei off his money right?" He reached for a box of cigarettes and placed one between  his lips. "Of course not. I am not that kind of person." She lied.  Knowing how she was like when they were kids, he scoffed. Removed the cigarette and said. "I am Pei Shangdi. Money and I are one. Together we are the root of all evil."  Such great introduction!  Her expression totally changed and she cupped her breasts and sat upright. "Actually it has been my lifetime dream to marry the root of all evil."  Pei Shangdi didn't know if he should feel happy or sad. The val package he has always wanted fell right into his hands. But this kid...does she even know what she is getting herself into?  ________________ The book cover does not belong to me. YOU CAN'T ACCIDENTALLY RUN INTO A STRANGERS BED.

Noticing that she was shaking so much, he extends his left hand towards her and pulls her to himself. Abena felt as if she had been enveloped by a cold entity. Just minutes ago when they were engrossed in each other, was he not warm?

How can someone's body feel so cold?

Maybe he didn't know how cold he was because he squeezed her more into his arms, and started rubbing her lower back with his other hand. The more he did this, the more she felt goose bumps rise on her arms.

"You are shaking?" He points out.

"That...that...that. sound...was that a..."

"Person? Yes."

"Ahhh..." she gasps trying to get enough air. Pei Shangdi swiftly moves to his night stand, opens a drawer and pulls something out. It was an inhaler.

"Are we scared?" He questions. "It is just another human." She grips her night wear and he applies the inhaler for her again.

How he knew that she had asthma was a mystery to her. She scrambled out of his hold but Pei shangdi still held her by the waist.

"Someone just fell to their death."

"So...?" he asked in a deadpan tone. Because the bedside lamp was on, she could make out his black eyes and dead face.

Abena gave him another long look. He was still sitting on the bed with his hand around her waist. "Just now...your eyes..."

"Hmmm..?" he urged her to continue.

"Your eyes were black just now."

"Black? You are too shocked. I have grey eyes." He replies and finally pulls her to sit by his side on the bed.

Lowering her head, she squeezed her eyes shut. Something wasn't right here. The hair on her back was still standing and her heart was still beating fast. Someone just fell from the upper floor and he acted like it was just nothing. She had thought she was cruel and had a heart of stone but he...he is acting just like someone she knew. Abena tilts her head to the side and caught a glimpse of a tattoo on his left arm. Staring at it, she noticed it was that of a snake.

That boy back then too....did he not say that he would get a tattoo to cover the scar on his arm.

"Excuse me...can I ask you something?"

"Sure."

Even if she was right and if it was him. Even if she would die here, after having the best sex of her life, she still wanted to know.

"You were..."

Knock. Knock. Knock.

Abena jumped when she heard the knock. They both looked in the direction of the door. She quickly scrambled out of bed and squats beside the night stand.

"What are you doing?"

"I don't want anyone to see me."

Knock. Knock. Knock.

He lightly shakes his head and calmly responds. "Who is it?"

"Older brother.. it is me Fangfang."

Abena looked more shocked when she heard the name.

"What is it? Don't be a nuisance."

"Can I come in?"

She didn't let him respond before rushing into the bathroom to hide. Pei Shangdi watched the little red ball scurry into the bathroom and stroked his chin. Why did she run to hide like that?

Either way..."Come in."

The door was slowly opened and Pei Fang first peered inside with just his head. He saw his cousin staring at him with his head tilted. As it he was trying to figure out what Pei Feng was doing. Finally letting himself in, he closed the door behind him and swallowed hard.

"Ahahhah...did I bother you?"

"What do you think?"

"Sorry..sorry. Ahh..brother, did you know, someone just committed suicide. The whole hotel is in an uproar. How are you still here and calm?"

"Yes I know someone fell some minutes ago. Why should I not be calm? It is not I who has fallen to death."

Pei Fang couldn't say a word knowing his older cousins personality.

Pei Shangdi continued when he saw that the younger one wasn't saying a word. "Did you bother me because of that?"

Scratching the back of his head he hurriedly responds. "That..you know the newbie celeb Sonia.." Pei Shangdi didn't give a response and twirled the inhaler in his hand. "she was the one who committed suicide."

Abena who hid inside the bathroom, heard what he had said and rushed to cover her mouth. Her legs felt soft and she fell to the floor, making a thud. Pei Fang looked at the bathroom door when he heard a sound.

"Is someone in there?"

Pei Shangdi got on his feet and took a few steps towards him. "Would you like to check?"

The beads of sweat that had formed on his back rolled down into his butt cheeks seeing his cousins intense cold look. "no no..."

"So..? Did you come to bother me because a celebrity fell to her death?"

Pei Fang didn't know how be could remain so calm in such a situation. His could he not even show an ounce of emotion at all. Even though he knew his older cousin, he was still very shocked.

"At all...at all. I am looking for my course mate. Abena. Have you seen her?"

Pei Shangdi took another step closer and Pei Fang took one backwards. "Abena?" he pronounced, the name smooth on his lips. "Why are you looking for her?"

"I just wanted to know if she was fine. The noise on the upper floor resonated here and almost everyone has gathered in the reception. I knocked her door but she isn't responding..."

"And you thought to check here next?" he pushed taking another step forward. Pei fang could not dare to move backwards now. He was almost drowning in the heavy tension that had surrounded the room.

"I was just checking rooms randomly. Abena sleep walks so..."

Pei Shangdi squeezed his hands behind his back. She sleeps walk? He should be the only one to know such.

"Get out. Don't bother me."

He quickly hurried to the door and placed his hand on the knob. "Is it really okay? I mean...a celebrity just fell to death on valentine in your hotel. Would it not affect you?"

"Get out." He calmly commands.

Pei Fang knew better than to say another word and quickly hurried out. Once he closed the door behind him, a group of elders welcomed him and surrounded him with mini fans. Pei Fang glares at his uncles.

"You people...you people..." he took in deep breaths.

Elder Pei who was the fourth son pats his back and asks him. "What did he say?"

Pei Fang wanted to shout at them but he calms himself. "What were you expecting? It is the same old him. He didn't even give any reaction. God I almost died in there."

Fourth elder Pei pointed his finger at Second Elder Pei. "Say big brother aren't you being unfair? He is your son but even you cant talk to him?"

Second Elder Pei pats his chest. "I am already growing old. Do you want me to go in there and have an heart attack. We all know how the air around Shangdi is."

Thinking about the kind of aura he emits, they all start to shiver and quickly walk away from the door.

Pei Shangdi heard the footsteps get fainter and walked to the bathroom only to see Abena sleeping on the floor. Scooping her into his arms, he carried her to the bed and gently tucked her in.

Was she not planning to escape a while ago? How is someone jumping to their death anyone's business? Is it not the person's business?

He was about to tuck away a strand of her hair when he heard another knock on the door.

"Come in."

His assistant Lu Ming swiftly walks in and stands by the door.

"Chairman Pei." He could see a little bun sleeping in bed and didnt know if he should speak or not.

"Speak."

"Sonia has jumped to her death as ordered."

Pei Shangdi chuckles and turns to face his assistant. "Too bad Pei Fang already delivered that information."

Lu Ming quickly bows his head. "I am sorry."

"Are you starting to slack off? Do you want to be relieved off this job?" he pretends to think about it for some time before adding. "Or would you rather jump to your death as well?"

Abena who wasn't asleep fists her hands under the duvet. It is him. He didn't die? Or did he come back to life? She had vowed to not have anything to do with him even in death. But here she was lying in his bed after sleeping with the man.

If only...if only she hadn't made any mistake last night. If only it had been the right bed. Why on earth would she accidentally end up in a childhood friend bed? A stranger would have been better.

She felt Pei Shangdi move closer to her before she felt his cold fingers caressing her face. In a solemn voice she heard him say. "You cant accidentally run into a strangers bed." His index finger stopped when it was on her lips and he finished almost in a whisper. "We wouldn't want blood on our hands Abena, would we?"

With his last sentence, Abena had her eyes wide open. Meeting the grey, devilish one of the smiling man.
