Genuine Battle

"Sir Bernard!" Exia cried out in joy. He never expected that someone would rescue a nobody like him. That's why Bernard's appearance really surprised him.

"Are you okay, Exia? Hang on there!" Bernard exclaimed in worry and start to chant, "Lightning Spark!"

Instantly, three lighting sparks materialize in the air and start to fly toward the other guy in a black robe as crackling sounds echoed.

Without hesitation, the man who had been targeted by the lightning sparks retreated to his partner's side and launched three daggers to each of the lightning sparks.

As soon as the daggers landed on the sparks, they burst out to explode, brightening the room for a split second due to the electricity outburst.

At this moment, Exia was already secured by Ardelt, who quietly sneaked his way onto the room and uncuffed him, "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I just feel sore all over my body," Exia replied truthfully as he inspects his own injuries.

"You can check those injuries later. What you are supposed to do now was step back and don't come near us. An intense battle would break out soon." Ardelt said with a serious expression while gazing in the direction opposite of him.

"Assasin, what's your plan now? Your advantage of sneaking to people's back has been eliminated now." Bernard said with a mocking tone. His amber-brown eyes flickering dangerously in the darkness.

In response to Bernard's taunt, the assassin threw another dagger in Bernard's direction. By relying on the sounds of winds being pierced by something sharp, Exia had a hard time pinpointing precisely the dagger's location. But that wasn't the case for Ardelt, a trained knight.

Even in the darkness, his eyes still as sharp as a hawk. With a quick movement, he stepped forward and hit the incoming dagger with his sword.

"It seems you all got no plan to speak peacefully with us. So be it then!" After saying that, Bernard directly chanted a spell while forming a triangle shape by crossing his fingers, "Illuminate!"

From the centre of the triangle, yellowish-light starts radiating, gradually illuminating the entire room without a single part being left in the dark. Exia closed his eyes subconsciously as he couldn't stand open them in the current state where blinding light was cast.

Just as Exia thought Bernard would cast another spell, he heard Ardelt inhaled a deep breath before a lion's roar echoed across the room, making his body sluggish and stunned under the roar's effect. His knees start to wobble, and in the next seconds, Exia found himself already collapsed on the ground with tremors spread through his body. If it were not the circumstances they faced now is serious, Exia'd actually throw up right now.

Struck by the roar directly, even the two trained assassins get stunned the same way as Exia, but certainly in better shape with their body slightly shaken. However, on a battlefield, even a fraction of seconds could decide someone's life and death.

Catching the opportunity where his opponents are not in a healthy state, Ardelt quickly dashed from his position toward one of the assassin's position and swung his sword directly in front of his neck in vertical movement, intending to chop his heads off.

Unexpectedly, no blood splattered out. Instead, Ardelt was greeted by the sounds of chains get ripped off, resulting in his ordinary sword's momentum got slowed down due to a previous collision. Because Ardelt's sword's speed reduced, the assassins didn't waste that precious opportunity and quickly averted the sword's direction by clashing it against his dagger.

The sword that initially was supposed to chop the assassin's head, ended up only managed to scratch a wall with its sharp tip.

Success in blocking Ardelt's attack, the assassin whispered, "Torment."

While Ardelt sensed his surrounding changed in an instant, the assassin who cast the spell immediately broke down in exhaustion. Activating three spells consecutively for a day really took a toll on his body. Hence, this result where none of them won already the best outcome he could imagine.

Meanwhile, on another side, the assassin who had his appearance uncovered were staring keenly at Bernard. It's not that he didn't want to help his teammate, but exposing his back against a sorcerer was never a wise choice. Therefore, he didn't want to risk helping his teammate in exchange for his life.

Faced up against a skilled assassin, Bernard's face didn't change slightest from mockings. He placed both of his hands together, and an orange ball of flame began to form between them. Shifting his body a bit, Bernard then released his sealed palm and directed it over the assassin, "Fireball."

The orange ball of flame starts to shoot out from his palms, causing the room's temperature to increase frantically. Akin to a miniature of the sun, the ball lightens up the entire room. The previous light spell Bernard excluded was more inkling to holy, while this ball had an aura of destruction, able to terminate whatever obstructs it.

Watching the incoming ball of fire, the assassin slices his own hand under the surprised gaze of Exia. With his blood dripping profusely onto the floor, a circle of blood starts to form at a rapid pace around his area. With a pale face, the assassin muttered, "Blood Sacrifice: Barrier."

That instant, a wall made of blood emerged from the floor and blocked the fireball. With two different forces come to blows, the fire starts to extinguish slowly. The same goes for the blood that goes paler each time passed.

With both his hand propped out his body's weight, Exia watched the eye-opener scene in front of him in astonish. He couldn't feel his pain anymore, nor the urge to throw up.

'This was the best action and magic scene I've seen. Movies on earth were nothing compared to this.'

'This is the genuine battle.'

'This is the real magical world.'
