Episode 3.3 Pest
The car ride under the care of Shen Yuan wasn't exactly a very pleasant one. It was a nightmare for anyone who had motion sickness. Even for the two alphas, this ride is considered a ride to hell because of their slight nausea due to their vehicle's interstellar speed. Thankfully, they are awakeners with enhanced physique. This much discomfort did not hinder them from doing what they should be doing. Su Yifan called for back-up from the Baihu Guild, and Bai Tingfeng took this time to unknot his chaotic emotions.
Yanyan's safety is his priority. He shouldn't let his emotions overwhelm him, just like what Shen Yuan told him.
That is what Bai Tingfeng thought as he tried his best to meditate in the midst of their rocky journey and thinking of the omega who was desperately racing down the highway just to chase after their son, there was a foreign feeling that he couldn't name blooming in the part of his head.
But Bai Tingfeng didn't think much about that and just let it slide.
Thanks to the GPS and rocket-like speed, they arrived at the scene in under ten minutes.
The scene was hellish chaos.
Two cars are wrecked in the middle of the highway. The compact road is obliterated, and chunks of concrete lie all over the place.
"Seems like those bastards meant business, huh?" Shen Yuan uttered while gritting his teeth. The same dreading feeling that he shook off earlier came back. All this time, he is living a peaceful life in a world that is not as crazy as this one. This sight was foreign to him, even for a celestial fox spirit like him.
This is more like a war.
"They sure know how to stop traffic," Shen Yuan huffed.
The civilians left their cars to save their lives and completely isolated the intersection as the stand-off between two powerful groups was still underway. The Bai Family's security is a band of well-trained awakeners and ordinary people alike. As far as Shen Yuan sees it, they are overwhelming the kidnappers with their skills. However, the other side is persistent; all of them are awakeners using offensive skills to parry the attacks from the Bai Family's men.
"Okay, folks. This is the end of the ride. It's time to kick some asses."
The three hurriedly jumped out of their car and searched for Yanyan.
Shen Yuan's enhanced visual acuity made a great play as he managed to spot a platinum blonde fluff in the weird-looking man's arms. That must be Bai Shengyan!
"Over there!" Shen Yuan yelled, pointing toward a tall, bulky man. "The kid was being held by the man with scaly skin!"
He didn't hesitate to sprint to reach the heteromorph awakener. Shen Yuan is aware of these peculiar powers in this world. Heteromorphs have the ability to transform their bodies in order to manifest their supernatural power.
'And this man seems to use his scales to defend his body from magic and physical attacks,' Shen Yuan noted, not tearing his eyes away from the two. 'But why does it seem something is up with this lizard man?'
"Check for Nanny Lin, Assistant Su," The S-Class alpha hurriedly instructed Su Yifan. Bai Tingfeng pulled up the cushion in the back seat and pulled out his long samurai sword. It was covered with a golden sheath adorned by a carved standing tiger crafted with white gold.
The other nodded and ran to the wrecked car to rescue the injured nanny. Su Yifan has a solid trust in his boss if it's about fighting. The Guildmaster of the Baihu Guild is a swordmaster for an undisputable reason.
Bai Tingfeng also wanted to say to Shen Yuan that he should stay in the car where it is safe, but the omega was far too ahead of him. Bai Tingfeng could only run after Shen Yuan, internally promising to watch the omega's back and protect him.
"Yanyan!" the handsome alpha uttered. His heart thumped wild and hard as he saw his child's back. The energy sleeping deep inside him started to go active, and white wisps of light started gathering around his body. From a worried father, Bai Tingfeng's face transformed into a cold tyrant.
The arrival of three people was not left unnoticed by some, "This is bad! Bai Tingfeng is here!" cried one of the assailants.
It sounded like a death sentence to them, but to Bai TIngfeng's men, it was a horn of victory. They worked harder to overpower the enemies.
"Take back the Young Master!"
"Beat these assholes quick!"
"Master Bai is here! Do not stall. Holy shit!"
In an instant, the Bai Family's men looked as if they were full of mana; they clashed harder against the enemy and shot energy bullets. The road has turned into a battlefield. The sounds of grunting and metals colliding occupied the intersection. The air turned tense due to the approaching climax of the incident.
But Shen Yuan didn't mind any of these things at all.
"Hey, ugly! Hand me the kid now!"
Shen Yuan roared. The omega fearlessly dived in the middle of the chaos. He shook his right hand, revealing his sharp claws. Ready to cut the lizard-like man. Once again, he saw a bit of the child's back, and his heart thumped again.
'I need to save that kid. That is the only way to shake off this unpleasant feeling that has been bothering me,' Shen Yuan gritted his teeth, slowly elongating his canine teeth, looking like a predatory beast.
"I apologize. We can't let that happen," an unfamiliar voice suddenly was heard out of nowhere. Shen Yuan is confident that it did not come from the scaly guy. He is looking at the man all this time.
"Reveal yourself, cowardly human," Shen Yuan loudly said without stopping his advancement.
"Cowardly? Then you are an idiot, Shen Yuan," The man in a black hoodie suddenly emerged from one opened van. The tall man had a lithe body covered with baggy clothes, making it difficult to guess the secondary gender. This is especially true for Shen Yuan, who still doesn't know the three genders in depth.
"A fashion model haphazardly waltzing his way in a battle between combatant awakeners? You are asking to be killed."
The mysterious attacker stretched his palms, and a tiny black hole appeared in front of the palms.
'That thing is!' The celestial fox spirit stared at the familiar hole wide-eyed for a moment, not making a move at all.
Out of the hole, something black emerged from it. Shen Yuan's powerful hearing picked up a buzzing sound.
"Step back!" Shen Yuan's fox spirit instinct yelled at him. The omega cast one last look at the sleeping child, and only then did he jump backward in a wide arc, putting a considerable distance away from the black swarm of insects that the man summoned.
Some men wearing black suits near them started dropping one after another after the unidentified insects touched them.
"No! Why am I attacked too-" one of the kidnappers screamed as the aggressive mass of insects surrounded him. Just like the first men from Bai Family's side, he fell to the ground like a sheet of paper.
With just one indiscriminate attack, it caused terror and confusion to allies and foes alike.
The two groups started to retreat in horror. But the chaos only intensified.
However, there is someone who don't care a thing about the imminent danger these insects are posing.
"What the hell?" Shen Yuan looked at the scene with shock, bewilderment, and irritation. This situation is no longer out of fantasy in his phone. This is real life.
"That looked disgusting."
That thought is slowly sinking into the celestial fox spirit. He is in the dangerous world of "Their S-Class Secret." He was about to see a more grotesque sight if he continued living in this world.
"This must be the reason people prefer fiction more than real life. Such an eww swarm of flies."
A thought suddenly flashed in his head. Bai Tingfeng, in the story, has one great nemesis he swore to kill before he dies. It was an awakened international terrorist with an alias, Haichong. An S-Class summoner mage who could spawn mutated insects. He is a criminal known for his massive kill count, starting from the massacre in B city's shopping center.
'But why is he here?' Shen Yuan asked himself. 'And what the hell is up with that black hole that appeared in the palm of that Haichong-human? Does he have a hand on my I am here now?'
Shen Yuan didn't have time to wonder about the answer to those questions as he saw a thick veil of flies ready to blanket him. "Damn! It seems like I needed to use my Heavenly Foxfire to cleanse this filth."
The celestial fox spirit was readying himself to show the debut of his signature magic, but it was abruptly stopped when something zoomed past him.
That thing was so quick that the naked eye couldn't see it. But to the celestial fox spirit's senses, it is as easy as pissing.
"That jerk, Bai Tingfeng," he murmured as he watched multiple starlike lights flashing within the black swarm. It is like witnessing a star being born in the black night sky. The white stars twinkled twice, thrice, and finally, four times until a blinding white light consumed the swarm.
In an instant, thousands or even a million flies started falling one after another like waterfalls.
"Do you really have to cut them perfectly in half, Bai Tingfeng? What a showoff!" Shen Yuan said. He is disguising the fact that he has goosebumps after personally witnessing the power of the then-fictional character he loves.
The name Bai Tingfeng comes with many monikers made by the public, and one of them was; "The Leaping White Tiger." It was a title based on the characteristics of the mythical White Tiger of C Country's legend. Fast, sharp, and bedazzling. Those are Bai Tingfeng's sword's characteristics that are linked to the power of the mythical beast.
A gust of wind flashed in front of Shen Yuan, and the next thing he knew, Bai Tingfeng was standing in front of him with an ugly expression. His sword still has a white aura coating it. Prepared to strike any time.
"The others are retreating, yet you are here, standing and looking pretty and all? Are you throwing your life away?!"
"For your information, I will not be harmed at all even if you do not jump in front of me!" Shen Yuan's voice raised a few octaves. He isn't fond of Bai Tingfeng's way of speaking to him. Why does it sound like he is the bad guy? They wouldn't arrive here on time if it weren't for his impeccable driving!
Shen Yuan was really pissed at Bai Tingfeng, but he held his temper since they had a more pressing concern.
"Whatever, jerk. I will save the kid before anything else happens. And you are not allowed to have any say on that," Shen Yuan took a step forward, intending to snatch the child from the lizard-man.
He will leave Haichong to Bai Tingfeng since they are meant to be enemies.
Before the swarm completely cleared, Bai Tingfeng's eyes suddenly twitched.
"Don't let your guard down. I have a bad feeling about this," The handsome alpha held his long sword tightly, and his eyes squinted dangerously.
The chill Shen Yuan heard multiple sounds of reviving the car engine, and the celestial fox spirit clenched his hand in anger. "That cursed pest! That attack wasn't meant to pull us into a fight. It was meant to cast a veil on us so they could escape!"
Right after he said that, three black vans started driving off, and through the tinted window of one of the car, he saw someone smirking at him.
