21 Spirit Guardians

Eyelashes quivered as they slowly rose, black eyes opening up slowly, getting slightly wider by the second. Back drenched in sweat, the maiden sat up, her pale skin perfectly complimenting her dark eyes.

Looking downwards, she found a two-tailed cat beside her.

"It seems that everytime you get an 'upgrade' on your skills, or unseal one of the seals within you, I grow a tail."

Nodding with suspicion, she opened her mouth, asking, "Then, how many tails can you have?"

"One more than the Nine-tails."

Ten tails. Only two right now, such a far goal was only to be seen if we fast forward. Unfortunately, we do not have that skill in life.

"When's your birthday? We have to plan your cultivation."

Thinking for a while, Xuanmei shrugged, standing up and brushing imaginary dust off of her robes as they flowed elegantly down like a gentle waterfall.

Sighing, Ming shook his head in disapproval and grabbed her hand with his paw, bringing her out of the space and into the other dimension, Ming as a cat resting on her lap.

Seemingly sleeping soundly, Xuanmei lightly patted her 'pet', thinking hard with furrowed eyebrows.

"Ming, is there anything I can do to increase cultivation?"

The cat opened it's eyes, "Not yet."

Xuanmei's eyes dimmed with disappointment.

"However, you can do something productive. Unlocking my second skill, you are now able to see through others, their cultivation level no matter how high, and also... Their inner world."

Repeating the last sentence in confusion, she looked to Ming for help.

"In this world, since you have more knowledge from the modern, allowed you to access their so called 'Inner world,' a pocket dimension in their minds in which they create. When they are just born, it's just like a blank canvas. Their experiences shape their dimension, and in that dimension, knowledge is held."

"So, if I really want, I can just go into their world and release their knowledge, making them foolish, or control them?"

Ming nodded. "Except for soulests, even demons are able to be controlled, though not foolish."

Like a child's fireworks lighting up the night, Xuanmei's eyes lit up beautifully, reflecting clearly the happiness and excited feelings being withheld.

"Not quite fast, though. If you want to reach that level, you have to unlock another seal, this time in your dantian. I've unlocked your bone marrow's seal, but I've not yet purified your blood. Then, you can unlock the ability to see and speak to spiritual guardians or guardian pets."

Hearing something about Spirit Guardians in her past life, she had some kind of understanding.

"So, they protect the person and prevent them from suddenly becoming foolish, or having someone steal their secrets? Then I have to defeat the guardians and go against them to get what I want?"

Ming nodded.

"Defeating them is no small task. In fact, it's not easy at all. If you enter someone's realm, they don't stop you at all. In fact, they welcome you, unless you have any malicious intent, in which they will try to repel you."
