Monster Scholar

I think a hundred years passed before I began working on my next big project, I had a few more designs for other monsters based on earth myths and legends, others more original/alien. Then I realized I should probably make some progress on the magic side of things, while a few of my monsters were capable of it, they mostly used original or unreplicable magic the things unique to them. So I needed to build a creature capable of understanding and harnessing magic. 

I also needed it to want to record everything it studied, every bit of information or magical spell it found. So I needed to plan it out, putting a few designs to the side I began planning everything out. I took a bit of land from Earth and other places with an inherent magical presence to them. Places that would become important focal points in the universe in one way or another. Sometimes a being just landed there and left some of its essence behind, other times it was a place they were either born or were about to be. 

I took bits and pieces from all these places building a mountain/island away from the continent, giving the being I was about to create some privacy. So that it didn't have to deal with the chaos of the outside world. That and have all the magical energy to itself, to fuel its experiment or spells. While I could've used it myself and done those things, it meant less time for me to design my monsters, the beings who could do so much for the universe and myself included. 

I made a humanoid entity, wrapped in cloths with two large horns, with a half circle connecting the two, with golden string on their hands. A full golden circle on their back and two half circles underneath it reach the halfway point of the smaller one. It was a being who I installed the very essence of knowledge, magic, and wonder into. It would reach godhood on its own, but still under my control.

I had my helpers work on my other projects during all of this, leaving me the free time to create a small little temple/library-like thing. To both provide a place for this being to do his research and test. A place of calm, of tranquility, where it couldn't be bothered like the rest of my creations and in special cases me. Even I get bothered by the occasional large-scale world about to break out or something like that.

Then the great elemental pilgrimage, as I sent hundreds of elementals across the universe, to do as they pleased which in some cases their only want was to cause destruction. I even think a few of the air elementals were excited to do so, which was surprising because I thought the water elementals would be more aggressive than they were but well to each their own. 

Back to working on my little unique creation, I had to install a name into it, as it was a unique entity, one that would probably be the sole one of its kind. I did make sure to include immortality in the package as well, to a certain point anyway. That's when I decided on the name "Talauria" which would be both its name and species name. The second part didn't matter as much though, and only bolded the fact it would be alone, well with me and my helpers company of course. 

It was possible in the future I would make it a companion or fellow scholar in the future but for now I would focus my energy on making them. As they sparked to life, they looked at themselves and noticed the massive surge of magical energy behind him and charged straight forward, not even hearing me speak one single word. This was to be expected as I designed it that way, and it made me happy that it was so ready to get to work right away. 

I smiled and went back to work, letting my little monster scholar do his work, to do that which I would not do. Hopefully, it would be worth it in the end, and hopefully, I would be able to make a friend or something like that for them soon enough.

When I was born I was already aware of my purpose, of what I was meant to do. I was meant to study the cosmos, the energies of the universe, and master it, control it, and shape what is most called magic to my will, to my creator's will. To allow them mastery over this power, over mana and all other cosmic energies. So that they make more monsters, more beings like me to do as they wished as well. Perhaps one day I would choose a different purpose, and create my own destiny but for now, I was content with studying. 

Landing in the home my creator constructed for me, I could feel the energy in the air, all the possibilities and things I could do with this much power. I began to gather the mana in the air creating a magical tome for me to catalog all my findings, to make sure I never lost track of any potential discoveries. I made a few already, one of them was that even if a cosmic entity was not born yet the energies associated with it would still be present in the ground of its birth. 

Except it would be more malleable, more manipulated, and easily transformed into different energies well depending on how close to the birth of the entity in question is. The more new a being was, the more easily manipulated the energy would be. The older and closer to birth they were, the less manipulative would the energy be and more set in stone. 

It was all so fascinating, so amazing and so odd, I didn't know why this energy was like this but I would love to find out, to document the sequence of the energies fully transformed to whatever entity was born. To fully understand how an entities presence affected this energy, whatever its true name was.
