Spider-woman took off to refill her web cartridges on the sidelines as I walked towards the Juggernaut, having a moment of self reflection.
Ever since I got these Spider-powers, I've been imitating Spider-woman every time I fought.
I've been been fighting without a form, relying on just my Spider-senses to dodge attacks.
That's not my style.
My mind ran through every martial art I knew. My opponent was bigger, stronger, and built like a fucking tank. Striking wouldn't work. What does that leave? Grappling.
And I knew just the right art. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
I ran at the Juggernaut, who had now turned to face me after throwing another car at Laura's friends.
He swung at me with a punch similar to the one that had just broken my ribs, but this time it ended differently. I weaved under the punch, his fist mere inches from shattering my head. I grabbed his arm as it passed me.
Even if my strikes can't hurt him, I'm still strong enough to lift his heavy ass.
I threw him over my shoulder onto the ground, and immediately put him in a rear naked choke.
He flailed around, trying to punch me, but he couldn't reach. That's the beauty of grappling. Do it right, and your opponent can't even touch you.
Time for the real kicker.
I let my fangs out and bit down on his shoulder.
"OH GOD. MY FUCKING TEETH!"
I let go of him and jumped out of the way, clutching my jaw. It was like trying to bite through 10 inches of solid steel. Hopefully my teeth weren't chipped.
"Okay, Plan A didn't work. Time for Plan B"
I looked towards Spider-woman, who was watching from a nearby building after refilling her web cartridges and... laughing. God damn it.
I nodded at her, and she nodded back. The plan was a go.
She landed next to me and ran left, firing webs at the Juggernaut's face. I did the same, running right. The webs covered his face and tied his arms to his chest.
The plan was to suffocate him till he passed out. All humans need to breathe, after all.
We kept out of his range and continued to web him up until his upper body was entirely cocooned.
Once he was wrapped up nice and tight, I ran at him and delivered a roundhouse kick to his chest, causing him to lose balance and fall to the ground as he struggled.
Spider-woman walked over to me, slightly out of breath from constantly running in circles and firing webs simultaneously.
We fist bumped, relieved it was finally over, and turned to Laura's group.
"That was one hell of a pain in the ass. What was up with that massive douche, anyway?" I said, exasperation evident in my voice.
"That was the Juggernaut. He's like the Hulk, just less green" replied Scott, wincing from an injury he picked up during the fight.
He then continued, Jean checking his arm to analyze the extent of his injury.
"He's a part of the Brotherhood, a team of mutants that are really uncool with humanity as a whole"
I nodded, recalling all the mutants I had met back at Hydra. Just like me, they weren't there voluntarily.
From my side, Spider-woman piped up after hearing a term she was unfamiliar with.
"What are mutants?"
It makes sense she wouldn't be know about them, S.H.I.E.L.D regularly hides any news and information about them from the public to prevent mass panic and hysteria.
This time it was Laura who responded.
"That's a pretty long story, but to break it down for you, mutants are humans who have an extra gene called the X-gene. It gives them different abilities, and sometimes changes their appearance drastically. It's the reason why... oh shit."
Spider-woman and I watched their eyes go wide, and felt our spider-senses start to tingle.
"He's right behind us, isn't he?"
We leaped out of the way as a fist the size of my upper torso collided into the ground we were just standing on, the shockwaves sending us flying back.
Spider-woman and I were both sent careening into a brick wall, hitting it with our backs first.
We both groaned as we slowly stood up. Spider-woman was still reeling from the damage, and I started closing more gates to reduce the pain's affect on me.
We suddenly looked up to see the Juggernaut standing a few feet in front of us, his fist pulled back, ready to throw a punch that could destroy us and the building behind us.
I regret not bringing my guns.
Not that they could even do anything to this guy. Would've still been nice to have them, though.
Neither of us were in a state to dodge. My ribs were stopping my movements, and her limp had gotten even worse. I doubt she could even jump right now.
We hit him with our best shots. We put our maximum strength into every punch. We even tried to suffocate him. But apparently he doesn't need to breathe.
All we could do now was hope we survive the attack.
No.
I have to make sure she survives.
As I watched his fist travel towards me in slow motion, my vision turned black and white yet again.
I mustered up all the strength I had left in my body, and did the only thing I could right now.
I pushed Spider-woman out of the way.
Well, shit.
