As the plane landed back on the helipad at Avengers Tower, we all grabbed our stuff and stood up.
I stretched as the bay doors opened. We had just dropped the scientists and the Brotherhood members off with S.H.I.E.L.D, and I got to say hi to Hill. She didn't say it back, though. Probably just forgot.
We stepped off the Quinjet and watched the helipad opened up and the plane descended into what I assume was the Hanger.
As we entered the building, Tony looked back at us and spoke.
"Meeting in 15 minutes. Put your suits away, take a piss, and meet in the Briefing room."
I did a half-salute as I walked up the stairs towards the housing wing. Gwen followed me since she didn't need to take off her suit, as she didn't want to expose her identity.
I took off my glove and pressed my hand against the door's biometric sensor, causing the door to open.
Gwen followed me in, took off her mask and looked around.
My room was the size of an apartment, same as the rest. It had a sleek white and grey interior, with white floors and grey cabinets and tables. Tony had offered to customize it for me, but this was fine in my opinion.
I opened a door that led to one of the two adjoining rooms. This was my suit room.
Three standing glass cases stood at the end of the room, opposite to the door. Inside the first two were my other two suits, with the leftmost suit being my first, the Warframe. The middle case had my second suit, Slingshot. My newest suit, Stealthleaf, was going to be in the third case.
Gwen peeked in behind me and whistled, clearly impressed by the suit cases.
"Why do you make so many suits, anyway?" She asked, looking over my shoulder at my older suits.
"Different suits for different situations. That one on the left is more durable, but heavier, so it makes me slow. The one in the middle is faster, but less durable. The one I'm wearing right now has is a mix of spandex and cloth, so it has basically no defensive properties, but it's made for long range combat so it's the lightest, and has camouflage. Snipers have to move a lot in battle, so I need to be quick on my feet. Each armor has its own specialty, and it's own time to shine."
Gwen nodded at my words, before I started ushering her out of the door.
"Hey, what's the big deal!?" She asked as she was shoved out of the doorway of the room.
"I'm about to change, so unless you want to stay for the show, I'd recommend waiting out here.
Gwen, seemingly having had enough of being teased by me, turned back towards me and spoke in a velvety voice.
"Well, maybe I do want to stay for the show, handsome~" she said, wiggling her eyebrows at me.
My face remained deadpan as I stared at her, before slamming my door.
"Hey!" She yelled jokingly from the other side. Inside, however, I had my hand on my chest, feeling my fast heartbeat start to slow down.
I changed and exited from the room, wearing some dark blue jeans, a white T-shirt and a black bomber jacket. I looked over at Gwen, who was flipping through channels on the TV.
"We need to have another movie night in here." She said, still paying attention to the channels.
"Well, we'll have every opportunity for that, considering we'll basically be living together." I said, opening the fridge to check if there was anything inside. Sadly, it was empty.
"Oh…right." Gwen spoke, her shy side leaking back through into her voice. I chuckled as I checked my watch.
"Time to go. It's been 15 minutes." I said as I closed the fridge. Gwen got up from the couch and we left my room, closing the door behind us. We walked down the hallway to the briefing room, the door opening for us.
Everyone else was already there, with Riri and Viv having taken off their suits and put on their normal clothes.
Everyone turned to look at us as we entered, and Laura's eyes went wide.
"Elijah? What the hell are you doing here?" She said, her confusion making me realize she never found out I was Huntsman. Whoops.
She then looked at Spider-woman next to me, and it seemed to click in her head.
"Wait, you're the Huntsman?!" She exclaimed, standing up from her seat.
I chuckled at her reaction, as Charles and Xavier looked at her, surprised.
"Did you already know him, Laura?" Charles asked.
Laura snapped out of her surprise after hearing Charles' voice.
"Yeah, he goes to Midtown High. We've talked a few times." Speaking of Midtown High, I haven't been to school in a hot minute. Well, I'm sure it'll be fine…probably.
After Laura's realization, the meeting continued like normal. It was basically just a mission debriefing. Afterwards, however, came the real conversation.
*General POV*
"Charles, there's something I'd like to ask of you." Tony said, looking over at Charles from his seat.
"Very well, I'm listening." He said, looking at Tony, trying to gauge what his request would be.
He smirked as he put forward his request.
"I want Laura to join the Young Avengers team."
Charles and Logan both looked surprised by the request.
"May I ask why?" Charles asked.
"Well, for one thing, she's got some razor sharp claws that can do some real damage. She's also the same age as the rest of the team, so she'd fit right in. She's agressive, which no-one in this team is, making it something they lack. Also, and this is kinda the main point, it would help with normalizing mutants in society."
Charles' eyes widened after hearing Tony's final reason. It made sense. If the people's recognized heroes had a mutant among them, maybe the discrimination would slowly die out. The X-men were a mutant only group. It did nothing to help the divide between mutants and non-mutants. If it was known that there was a mutant among the Avengers, however, that may change everything for the better.
In the end, Charles felt it was a good idea. However, the choice remained Laura's.
He looked towards his young pupil, and smiled.
"It is your choice to make, Laura. You can do great things with us, and you can do just as much with them. In the end, it is what you wish to do that matters. And of course, you'd always be welcome to come and stay with us at the school whenever you feel homesick."
Laura thought it over for a minute, pondering what to do. It would help mutant-kind be accepted, and that was their goal, wasn't it? But would she alone be enough? In the end, she looked towards Tony, her gaze resolute.
"I'll join, but not alone. Bring over another X-man as well. We'll figure out who later."
Tony grinned as he stood up from the table and buttoned his suit jacket.
"Deal. Find your teammate and move in whenever. The other four will help you. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some work to do. Multi-billion dollar company and all that."
*Elijah's POV*
As Tony walked to the door, he suddenly stopped and pulled out his phone, pressing his screen a few times. Once he was done, all of the team's phones ringed, signifying a notification.
"That's all of your pocket money for the month. Welcome to the Young Avengers, kids."
He walked out the door as we all looked down at our phones.
Laura and my eyes went wide, and Riri almost fainted.
Gwen quietly squeaked out what we all saw on our screens.
"10 thousand dollars…"
