Excalibur, led by Betsy Braddock, followed after the knights as they marched towards the western sea. Things were quiet and it seemed that the knights for the most part only had one thing on their mind. To get to their brothers.
" Seems quiet don't ya think?" Gambit asked.
" Well, they're knights. Aren't knights supposed to be like super serious? I mean it makes sense. They aren't loud mouths like you Gambit." Jubilee spoke
" Wha? How could you say such a thing to Remy? You break a my heart Jubilee. Why you gotta do this to Gambit, eh?"
" Because it's funny swam rat." Rogue spoke up.
Gambit turned to his wife and saw her laughing with Braddock.
" Oh, you think dis funny too bets? Just wait, Gambit gonna pay all his debts back... With interest." Gambit stated.
" Oh? Is that a promise Remy?"
" For you Rogue, absolutely." Gambit replied.
" Okay, you two. I think that's enough. Anymore and I think Apocalypse is gonna choke the life out of both of you." Betsy spoke. She could tell from Apocalypse's rather annoyed expression that he wasn't too fond of the playful banter.
Which is something he should have expected when he commissioned for Excalibur to be rebuilt.
" Why are we following these knights, Captain? Surely you can agree that this will all be over much quicker if we were to simply just attack Morgan. Even if she did manage to kill a few of us. We can always comeback." Apocalypse spoke.
" I told you already why we're doing this. We're not going to just let these people die." Betsy told the man.
" As much as I detest his human loving ways, he is still powerful. One of if not the most powerful mutant alive. He can handle this alone. We're simply just wasting time." Apocalypse spoke.
" Oh come on, Apocalypse. You can't tell me you aren't at least a bit curious about what he was like back then. He tells stories about his old days, but there's still so much we don't know. I mean have any of you ever seen that big ass sword? Cuz I haven't." Jubilee asked.
" I'm not as curious as you might think." Apocalypse replied.
" Talking about the captain are ya?" Jubilee looked to her left and saw a young knight walking up to them.
The young man in front of her was lot cheerful than the others around them. Most likely he was a new recruit. His armor had few scratches in it which further alluded to this.
" Yeah, what do you know about him?" She asked. She wanted to know more about the man they knew so far ahead in the future.
" Well, the captain's a bit of a mystery. He supposedly came to Camelot with Arthur and Merlyn when Arthur was a boy. Since then, he's been the kings trusted teacher. You think of someone the greats it's most likely he's trained them." The boy explained.
" What do you mean?" Betsy asked.
" Are you serious? I mean, more than half of the knights of the round table personally trained under him. His greatest disciples were Gawain and Lancelot. Those trained under him since they were kids. And that's just who he trained. His feats in battle are unparalleled. Did you know his Great Sword was made from a Dragons fang, forged using the dragon's blood, the dragon's heart."
" From a dragon huh? I bet it would fetch quite the price." Gambit whispered.
" You'd be stupid to sell something like that." The knight stated.
" How'd he get it?" Jubilee asked.
" What?" The knight asked the girl. " How do you think he got it? By killing a dragon. The biggest dragon anyone's ever seen. It was black as the darkest skies and its fangs were sharper and harder than any iron or metal ever seen."
Jubilee felt a shiver run up her spine.
" Wait you mean, like a dragon, dragon?" She asked. Jubilee had seen many things in her life. But never an actual fire breathing dragon.
" Well... Yes that is what I'm talking about." The boy responded.
" Yeah, I'm with Apocalypse. Let's do this and get out of here." Jubilee spoke.
" Oh come on, Jubilee. You can't tell me that after everything we've fought, that you're scared of a dragon." Betsy asked.
" Look, I've known crazy all my life. But I have a son to get back too. I don't want to become dragon food. Alright." Jubilee replied.
" Oh, don't worry about that. Dragons don't usually attack unless provoked. And besides the captain is here. nothing to worry about." The boy stated.
" You sure seem confident. How can you be so trusting of a man you know so little about?" Betsy asked.
" It's simple. He's protected us for so many years. And guided the knights on a better path. One of justice. They're a symbol for all of Britain. Something to be better." The boy explained.
Betsy turned away from the boy and focused on Poseidon and smiled.
" Yeah, that sounds about right." Betsy spoke.
As the group continued marching, the sound of fighting grew closer, and they all knew they were about to arrive.
" All right everyone. Prepare yourselves. We'll move in and crush he enemy with all our might understand?!" Poseidon shouted.
" YES SIR!"
P.O.V Sir Tristan.
" Argh! Dorian." Tristan swung wildly at the demon in front of him. His arms were bleeding heavily, and exhaustion was beginning to weigh on him. " I need... A little help here." Tristan spoke.
" I'm right here." Dorian reached out and quickly tried to stem the loss of blood while he still could. He grabbed Tristan's arm and started stitching it up while they had a moment. " You need to sit this out for a bit, those stitches won't last if you keep fighting." Dorian told the man. He then quickly wrapped his arm in bandages.
" I can't afford to sit this out Dorian. Just be ready to help me again, when the next wave arrives." Tristan told the man.
" Do you think we can survive another wave like that?" Dorian asked.
" I don't know. But we have to try." Tristan replied.
Tristan's attention was drawn by the sound of the horn blowing once again to signal the arrival of more enemy forces.
" Dorian, say a prayer to God and ready yourself old friend. When we wake, we'll be in a better place." Tristan spoke.
He raised his sword and watched as More of Morgan's forces rose from the waters.
" Here they come, men. You know our duty. You know what's at stake. Say a prayer, think your families, and prepare yourselves. When next we meet, our lord will have saved our souls. To Battle!" Tristan shouted.
" AHHHHH!"
Tristan and his remaining knights charged forward in a suicide rush. Ready to take as many down with them as they can before they die.
The knights engaged their enemies and slowly but surely, they began to fall. One by one the knights fell. And as Tristan continued fighting valiantly, he knew his time was drawing nearer and so resided himself to his fate.
" May the next world be kind to me." He spoke.
Tristan readied himself as a demon prepared to kill him. But just as he was about to be killed Poseidon landed down right on top of the demon, crushing it with his fist and blowing the remaining demons around Tristan away.
Tristan looked up and felt a weight lift off his shoulders.
" He! It took ya long enough captain. Look alive, men! All isn't lost yet." Tristan shouted.
" Tristan, you and the others fall back. We'll handle the rest." Poseidon told the man.
" You got it captain." Tristan fell backwards and landed on the ground.
" Dorian, tend to his wounds. The rest of you to Battle!" Poseidon raised his sword and shouted.
" YAAAAAH!"
The Backup knights began jumping over the grass lines from above and rushed the beach.
" You heard him, Excalibur. Take them down!" Betsy exclaimed, she and her team jumped down and joined the knights as they began their battle against the forces of the otherworld.
" Oui!" Gambit replied. He and Jubilee both started chucking explosives into the crowds of demons, keeping their distance to give their allies a tactical advantage.
" Hm! Not bad. Guess I can afford to show off a bit myself." Poseidon joked. " You face me on the sea and think you can win Morgan. My dear viper you should know, no one can best me in my domain." Poseidon raised his arms and a wave rose from the ocean and hurtled straight towards him. He hopped on the wave and started riding on the wave. Circling the battlefield, waving in and out of close combat and swinging his giant sword.
Poseidon continued racking up his body count, effortlessly tearing through Morgan's undead.
" I'm ending this fast." Poseidon rose into the air on his wave of water and hurtled himself towards the ground. And with one powerful strike he sent out a wave of water that sliced through his enemies. Wiping them all out with ease.
Tristan's knights of the red templars all watched in relief as their hero's arrived and saved the day once again.
" Time for this pointless war to come to an end. Morgan."
