"It just had to be him." Betty said with a groan as she pinched the bridge of her nose. "Out of the only two gods who regularly fights Hulk, it just had to be the dumb one we found."
"Your words are quite hurtful, oh beautiful one." The son of Zeus said with a laugh. "I would have loved to stay and get to know you a bit better but unfortunately I have some urgent business with a very green and not jolly giant!" And then he turned around and started to walk away with great purpose that would make men bow down and wish to be just as self assured as him, if it wasn't for a single thing.
"You forgot your skirt." She called from behind him and the demigod looked at her with confusion before looking down with wide eyes.
"So that's why it felt so breezy!" The muscular man laughed as he walked towards where his dropped skirt was, uncaring of the show he was giving to everyone around, and picked it up.
"And for your information, this is a pteruges; don't just call it a skirt."
"Dude; if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck then there is a damn good chance it ain't a cow." Damian said with a smirk as he crossed his arms in front of his chest, a playful glint in his eyes.
Betty couldn't help but wonder when the playfulness would be replaced with cold and cruel amusement.
"I am not sure what ducks and cows have to do with this situation but I think I got the gist of what you're trying to say my unnamed friend." Hercules said. "Now if you all will forgive my shameful state and pardon me, I need to go back in order to fight a very green giant; as I've already said before. It shall be a battle truly worthy of the mighty Hercules!" He bellowed out with pride in his voice and Betty could feel Storm and Laura looking at her with judging looks.
"Don't look at me like that, he really is Hercules." She told them with a sigh, completely understanding their shock and disappointment in front of the brutish son of Zeus. God knew that she had been in the same boat when she had first properly met Hercules.
Still, even if the son of Zeus was an A grade moron, he was one of the strongest beings on earth. And one of the very few who could actually have a fist brawl with Hulk and Thor without them holding back. In other words, a true powerhouse.
One that could be very useful. She just needed to think up how to get him to cooperate.
"Hey man, any chances you could tell us where that green giant of your is?" Or she could just let Damian ask.
"Oh sure, he's just northeast to here, about five kilometers or something."
"Thanks." With the information obtained, Damian started to hover over the ground. "Race you guys there!" And then shot off like a bullet.
"Damn, your friend is fast."
---------------
It took me only a few moments before the very not jolly green giant became visible to my eyes, he was jumping away from where Hercules had pointed and I had to admit, he was a rather impressive creature.
Honestly, it looked like Hulk was less of a muscular giant and more of a giant mass of muscles. The green goliath also radiated anger, and a very small amount of actual gamma radiation, as he kept leaping further and further away. But being able to actually fly allowed me to overtake him and land exactly five feet from where he was about to land at the same moment.
"Hello there." Nailed it.
"RAAAAR!" Or maybe not.
"Calm down big fella, I'm just here to talk." I said with my hands raised in surrender and an easygoing smile on my face, trying to look as nonthreatening as possible.
"Lies! Puny men want to capture Hulk! Puny bothersome always the same!"
"No no, I'm here because some of my friends want to talk to you. That's all." I tried to calm him down, which was quite a bit harder than it could have been since I was kinda ticked off at being called puny.
So I obviously use my powers to grow as big as him before continuing. "And let's be honest big guy, we can't actually capture you." And now to offer some positive reinforcement. "After all, you are too strong to be captured aren't you?"
"Hulk the strongest one there is!" Heh, he said the thing.
"Cool, then there is no need to be paranoid." I said with a clap of my hands. "So can we just wait here for a while so that my friends can come here and we can all have a talk?" For a moment he looked like he was thinking about just saying 'fuck it' and leave after punching me or something along those lines, but he finally seemed to have settled down on not to and sat down; which caused the ground to shake.
"Ok, that's good." I said as I let out a breath in relief and disappointment. Relief because I wouldn't have to fight Hulk and disappointment because I wouldn't have to fight Hulk. A part of me really had been curious about which direction our fight would have gone.
As I was dealing with such thoughts, the rest of the team and Hercules finally arrived. Now Betty could finally talk to Hulk and then Bruce, ending our little adventure with no mishaps.
"RAAAAR!" Oh that's how it would have been if Betty didn't suddenly ran forward with glowing yellow eyes and head butted Hulk.
