15 Chapter 15. Against the Hulk

Roar!!

Throwing the helicopter wreckage behind him, Hulk held his head high and let out a deafening roar at the remaining helicopters in the air.

"He's challenging us."

On another helicopter, General Ross looked at the Hulk's actions with a cold face.

As a wise man once said, the person that knows you best is often your enemy.

After years of hunting, General Ross had gained a considerable degree of insight into Hulk's actions and abilities and could easily detect his intentions from his expressions.

"Compared to the previous data from the chase in the middle of the desert, this time Hulk's strength and defense have shown a significant increase. He also appears to have a jumping ability that wasn't seen before. His initial jumping height is tentatively estimated to be around 20 meters; further observation is needed ..."

"Hulk's ability is constantly evolving," General Ross's face showed a rare look of anxiety as his eyes swept over the data given by a soldier. "We have to catch him before it gets even more difficult."

Although his mind was made up, General Ross's expression was somewhat helpless as he turned his head to look at Hulk's position.

Ryan's choice of location certainly slowed the Hulk's movements down, but the tall buildings also affected the helicopters' ability to fly into combat, preventing them from forming an offensive that could be effective in causing damage to the Hulk.

"Where are the ground troops? How come they haven't arrived yet?"

Following the information, the helicopter was raised out of Hulk's reach. General Ross asked his men as he stared at the Hulk below.

"In route, the armored vehicle unit is changing routes due to road obstruction. They're expected to arrive on target in 3 minutes."

"3 minutes?! Do you think the Hulk would stay put and quietly wait for us for 3 minutes?" General Ross, turning his head to look at the soldier reporting the situation, asked in a cold tone.

The soldier glanced down at the Hulk below and shook his head, "No, Sir."

"Then tell the soldiers in the armored unit to get over here immediately."

"Yes, Sir!"

"Sir ..."

"What now?!"

"It's a call from the base."

At the soldier's reminder, General Ross subconsciously furrowed his brows and sternly took the phone handed to him by his subordinate.

The US military had a complex chain of command that included hardline veterans like General Ross, as well as pushover leaders who favored negotiation. However, the frequent outbreaks of superhuman incidents had currently resulted in the hardline faction within the military, led by General Ross's faction, gaining the upper hand.

"Ross."

"General Ross, do you know how much of a problem and impact the confrontation that you and your green-skinned monster have caused for the military in Manhattan? Just now, the President has called the military to ask about ..."

"The name of the green-skinned monster, as you call it, is Hulk."

  ...

On the helicopter, General Ross was distracted by a sudden call from the military and had to respond.

Below, Hulk turned his attention to the bug he had chased before.

And soon found the small figure.

Instead of taking advantage of his efforts to deal with the little toy above his head to escape, the little bug stood proudly in place as if waiting for him.

"Hello!" Aware of the Hulk's gaze, Ryan took a deep breath, then brought his hands together in the shape of a trumpet around his mouth and shouted, "Hey, big guy, over here. I'm over here, this way ..."

The scene before them would be an absolute heart-warming scene if the two main characters were replaced with delightful characters. Unfortunately, the reality is that Ryan, who opened his mouth to shout, was shabbily dressed, and the Hulk, on the other side of the street, was not even remotely pleasing to the eye.

But in a way, it was this great contrast that made the scene before them even more eye-catching.

"I'll come back and explain the situation in person later." On the helicopter, General Ross noted the situation below and hung up the phone without hesitation.

Ryan's actions, unsurprisingly, attracted the Hulk's attention.

Watching this little bug, who previously could only scurry around and run away in the face of his pursuit, suddenly turn bold and shout at him, the Hulk's simple mind couldn't figure out the reason for the shift right away. But it still sensed the other man's intention, which seemed to be to draw him over.

'Since he wants Hulk to come over, Hulk will come and smash him to pieces!'

Hulk, whose brain was full of anger, didn't even think about whether there were any traps behind Ryan's actions. The only thing he thought about was smashing things.

With a loud roar, the Hulk landed with his hands on the ground like a beast and rushed toward Ryan with both hands and feet.

'Here it comes!'

Having successfully drawn the Hulk toward himself, Ryan didn't hesitate to turn around and reveal the conspicuous red fire hydrant behind him. With a slight crouch, the Mighty Steel Leg kicked down towards the top of the hydrant with all his might.

Clang --

With a crisp sound as if metal was clashing against metal, the fire hydrant slowly began to morph under Ryan's leg, and tiny streams of water started to spill out along the cracks in the hydrant.

Right before his eyes, the fire hydrant continued to deform with the powerful force of Ryan's Mighty Steel Leg.

However, behind him, the Hulk was also closing in on him at speed visible to the naked eye.

'Hurry up, hurry up!'

Feeling the sensation of vibrations getting closer behind him and the roar that felt as if it was close at hand...

Ryan could only feel his heart beating wildly, and his face was soaked with sweat or water from the hydrant.

"Roar!"

With a deafening roar, the running Hulk leaped up, lunging toward Ryan with a fierce gust of wind.

Clang--

It was at this same moment that the fire hydrant that had been bearing Ryan's attack was finally kicked apart, and a huge stream of water raged through the gaping hole in the hydrant and struck the Hulk's body.

Naturally, the water spraying out of the hydrant couldn't have done much damage to the Hulk. After all, the force of the water was no match to that of a bullet under normal circumstances. However, with the huge amount of water spraying from the hydrant, it did a good job of stopping Hulk's next steps.

At this point, Hulk's lack of intelligence was revealed, as he was clearly running toward Ryan but was interrupted by the water in the fire hydrant in front of him. He immediately left Ryan behind and rushed toward the hydrant.

The Hulk, who was one-track-minded, kept moving against the current.

Ryan made a snap decision and used ten percent of his Mighty Steel Leg's power to kick Hulk in the face.
