(Thanksgiving day.)
Chapter thirty:
I had told Wanda to get dressed up for the day as I had an important surprise for her. I decided to wear the new tuxedo that I had brought and it was approaching our twelve month anniversary, and I just felt so fortunate to have Wanda still by my side loving me everyday. The last few weeks I'd been thinking about marriage a lot. I wasn't sure how Wanda felt on the subject so I decided to drop it into conversations. When I brought it up Wanda would say something vague or change the subject which wasn't the best sign. I don't care what form our relationship took just that it involved and loving Wanda for the rest of my life and beyond. We had been driving for a while and Wanda still had no idea where we were going. She didn't mind though as long as she got to spend time with me. Wanda was wearing that black dress again the one that drives me crazy.
As we pulled up Wanda noticed that we were outside Mia's and Giuseppe's restaurant. She was confused. "Happy Thanksgiving babe." I said before kissing her on the lips. I then opened the door for Wanda and took her hand and led her inside. When we entered the restaurant Wanda was lost for words. There was beautiful flowers on every table with pictures of us from throughout our relationship covering the walls. It was perfect. I had put so much effort into it and Wanda started to get emotional.
Mia and Giuseppe brought us our food knowing what Wanda and I wanted for Thanksgiving. The restaurant was very quiet which was strange as it was very popular in town. I was seemingly quiet and anxious. Before Wanda could ask me what was wrong You'll Never Walk Alone came on in the background making Wanda recalling that it was our song together. I then took Wanda's hand from across the table before getting down on one knee.
"Wanda, my love, since the moment I met you I knew that there was something special about you. You taught me to never give up on love. Sometimes I just look at you and my heart could burst. I love you so much Wanda more than I can even begin to describe. There were so many why I love you that I would be here forever if I tried to list them all but what I love most of all is the way you love me. When you look at me I feel invincible, like I'm safe within your love. Before I met you I had given up on love, on letting people in, all of it. Twelve months later we've created a life together with love, friendship and hope. You continue to surprise me every day with another wonderful talent you have or little acts of kindness and love. All I want to do is make you happy as you make me and love you for the rest of our lives and far beyond that. So Wanda will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?" I said. Wanda then broke down into tears. She couldn't believe that the man that she loved and adored was proposing to her. I meant everything to Wanda. The ring was stunning everything about this proposal was perfect.
"Yes. It will be my greatest honor of my life to be your wife. I love you so much Travis and I will continue to do so for all of eternity." Replied Wanda before kissing me with every ounce of love she had for me within her. I then placed the ring on Wanda's figure and it fit perfectly.
Within a few seconds she heard a pop of champagne with loud cheering behind the counter. My family and our closest friends appeared including Bucky Barnes. Wanda was so emotional. She started to cry as she gave them a hug.
The afternoon was wonderful as we ate beautiful food, and the drinks were flowing and Wanda was surrounded by people that she loved and those who loved her.
"Are you ready to come home yet?" I asked Bucky Barnes.
"Yeah I think I am. I mean poor Peter is stuck being the fifth wheel at the moment. It's only fair that I come back and save the day as usual." Replied Bucky Barnes.
Every single person in that room was family. I never thought I'd have another family again but here I was with the most chaotic family in the world.
"You ok babe?" Said Wanda.
"Yeah just thinking about how lucky I am to love you and everyone else in this room." I replied and kissed my beautiful fiance on the cheek.
"I can't wait to be your wife." Said Wanda.
God I love her.
