Chapter fifty four:

As the Incursion War slowly caused the building's to melt away, Wanda Maximoff was sitting on her knees in the middle of the street with endless tears streaming down her face. She felt so remorse over what she just caused, added on her pain over the trauma she experienced on the island. After what I told her, she had a small glimmer of hope inside her. Hope that she can somehow not only fix all of this, but maybe even reverse what has already happened, but her glimmer of hope was still overwhelmed with sorrow.

Doctor Strange arrived inside the destroyed Lunar Sanctum with the seven other heroes who didn't want to kill Wanda Maximoff. They walked outside and saw Wanda sitting in the street. Wanda Maximoff then turned her head and looked at us. She noticed the melancholy and dread in our faces.

We then walked over to her and I held out my hand to lift Wanda Maximoff onto her feet, and kissed her gently on the lips without saying a word.

In the time that I have got to known Wanda, I have grown very fond of her. And I couldn't bare seeing any version of my wife in such immense emotional anguish. But there was something else I couldn't shake. This feeling deep down that transcends reality. A feeling that I've known Wanda my whole life.

Wanda Maximoff then stopped kissing me on the lips, unclear on what was going on, but she knew it had to be very bad news. Hawkeye then gave her a hug. It felt like hugging his very own daughter. In some way he felt that all of this was his fault too, like a guardian neglecting a grieving child.

"I'm sorry I wasn't there when you needed me. Just know that whatever happens, we'll be right beside you." Said Hawkeye.

"You are not alone Wanda." Replied Monica.

I then began to cry like never before.

"I'm so sorry, Wanda. I tried. I really did." I said.

Wanda Maximoff snuffled and felt a sense of angst in her heart, completely obvious to everything.

"What's going on, what's happening....?" Replied Wanda Maximoff.

Doctor Strange, felt a lump in his throat, knowing what was about to happen.

"Wanda, you really don't remember any of it, do you? The multiversal war. How you changed reality... Said Doctor Strange.

"I don't... I would never... I... Replied Wanda Maximoff.

"This isn't right. None of this." Said Magneto.

Doctor Strange then let Wanda rest her head on his shoulder as he whispered.

"It's okay kid... It's okay." Replied Doctor Strange.

"They're all going to kill me, aren't they? They think that I'm a monster." Said Wanda Maximoff.

"No, Wanda. No one thinks that your a monster... I don't. It's a bit more complicated this." Replied Monica.

"Look kid, the fact that you changed reality, means that this entire reality is under your original spell. The only way to break the spell is to eliminate the one who said it. That is you... But we're not here for that." Said Doctor Strange.

"Then what are you here for?" Replied Wanda Maximoff.

"We are here because we couldn't side with the rest." Said Carol Danvers.

"Are you going to protect me?" Replied Wanda Maximoff.

"We... We are here to.... Said Doctor Strange.

He then took a deep breath out of his mouth.

"We are here to say goodbye." Replied Doctor Strange.

"Your death could save the entire multiverse, Wanda. Your sacrifice could reverse all of this as if it never happened." Said Magneto.

"Monica?" Replied Wanda Maximoff.

"I'm sorry Wanda. I know what you must be feeling, but there's nothing we can do to stop them." Said Monica.

"My little cuddle monster?" Replied Wanda Maximoff.

I didn't even notice that Wanda just called me by my nickname in front of the others. I was too focused on what was happening.

"I don't agree with any of this... From the bottom of my heart... If there was a way to save you without putting the multiverse in danger, I would've done everything in my power to do so." I said.

Wanda Maximoff closed her eyes with river of tears running down her cheeks. She then opened her eyes and looked at me after being lost in her thoughts for a while.

"This is it." Replied Wanda Maximoff.

"This is what?" I said.

"Back in New Asgard you told me that we will change my destiny... Whatever it takes... This is it. This is that moment." Replied Wanda Maximoff.

"Wanda what are you saying?" Said Doctor Strange.

"I refuse to be some prophecy destined to destroy the universe. This is the moment I pay for all of my mistakes. This is the moment I set everything right." Replied Wanda Maximoff.

"Wanda you don't have to do this you know. We can run, hide. We can go to another universe, lay low and start a new life, use one of Kang the Conquer's reset charges so we don't cause a incursion." Said Magneto.

"I know." Replied Wanda Maximoff.

I saw that Wanda already made up her mind. I then exhaled through my boss before looking down.

"Very well... So long, then, my dear child. May your broken soul finally find rest in the afterlife." Said Magneto.

"It's been a privilege to know you Wanda. To have lived your entire life myself. I wouldn't have taken back anything that I experienced in those dreams. You are a part of me now. I'm not overselling it to say that you have made me a better person... For that, I will always be grateful." Replied Doctor Strange.

"I'm ready." Said Wanda Maximoff.

Wanda Maximoff then began to cry softly.

"Thank you for being here... It means everything to me." Replied Wanda Maximoff.

The atmosphere was thick with palpable grief as I kissed Wanda long and passionately and put my hands around her auburn hair and waist.

As I kissed her, I could feel Wanda Maximoff's pain radiating through her body, the weight of her sorrow too heavy to bear. Time seemed to have stand still as Wanda and I continued to kiss each other, desperate to keep each other close for just a little while longer.

In the midst of our shared sorrow, Wanda Maximoff and I found strength in each other's presence. I knew that I couldn't take away her pain, nor what was about to happen, but I could stand beside her, untied in my love and support. And so I stood, arms around her auburn hair and waist, kissing Wanda long and passionately while waiting for the rest to arrive.

Wanda Maximoff cried softly, standing in the middle of our kissing, feeling the love that I had for her, she uttered what she thought would be her final words.

"I will always love you Travis." Said Wanda Maximoff.
