Chapter 248
In front of a deep cave, Thor suddenly halted.
Inside the dark cavern, waves of resentment emanated, creating an eerie atmosphere.
"Not running anymore? Have you exhausted all your divine power?" a colossal face boomed in the air, echoing like thunder.
Ego had abandoned any pretense of capturing Thor alive. His sole intention was to tear him apart.
Yet, Ego's overconfidence was palpable. He even presumed Thor wanted to flee...
And he was right!
Thor raised the Stormbreaker high, and a beam of colorful light sliced through the thick fog obscuring the sky...
...
On the Monarch Planet, Hela surveyed the large group of Sovereigns crawling on the square with satisfaction. She felt revitalized. Most of the resentment Odin had sealed away for countless years was now unleashed.
The reality proved that when a weak but extremely arrogant race faces the threat of extinction, all their pride dissolves. Nothing becomes more important than their own lives...
The Sovereign, once proud, knelt faster than anyone else. Without their robotic soldiers blocking the front line, when they faced Hela directly, many surrendered in fear and even actively helped remove the few defiant ones...
In a way, this was a battle for authority.
From the moment the Sovereigns declared war, ancient forces throughout the universe watched closely.
On one side was Asgard, an old and powerful race seemingly in transition, and on the other, the Sovereigns, representing the pinnacle of technological civilization. Many believed it would be a protracted struggle.
The outcome, however, surprised everyone. Asgard sent only one person, and within a day, this interstellar power crumbled. The once-advanced civilization became a complete joke, and the Monarch Planet served as the backdrop for Hela to announce her return.
Compared to Thor, this outcome was not surprising. Despite the Sovereigns' technological prowess, they were no match for Asgard, which excelled in both technology and magic.
If Hela could single-handedly defeat Asgard, she could easily conquer Monarch.
Hela opened her arms and declared to the crowd below, "Kneel before your queen!"
As soon as she finished, a rainbow beam descended from the sky and enveloped her entire body.
Hela: "???"
After a brief hesitation, she did not resist and was instantly transported away, leaving the Sovereigns bewildered.
...
When the Rainbow Bridge appeared, Ego realized something bad was about to happen.
He might not have seen a pig run, but he certainly knew what it looked like!
He was aware of Asgard's Rainbow Bridge but didn't anticipate that it could summon Thor's battle axe.
Hela's vision blurred, and another person appeared before her. She looked at him in confusion.
Thor patted Hela on the shoulder: "Hold him for ten minutes, I'll be there soon!"
With that, another Rainbow Bridge appeared and vanished instantly.
Hela: "…"
Ego: "..."
...
Hela had no chance of defeating Ego with her current strength, but she could still buy some time.
As long as Asgard existed, she was truly immortal. Her survival capability was akin to an invincible warrior, impervious to death.
Even though this place was Ego's domain, Hela had her own advantages, such as...
The ominous atmosphere of death and resentment within the cave was Hela's domain.
"Swish, swish, swish…"
Flying swords intercepted Ego's energy tendrils, though they struggled to fully block them. Hela dodged his attacks with agility.
A chilling energy surged from the Frostmourne she wielded, rushed into the cave, and vanished in an instant.
Ego had a foreboding feeling: "What... did you do?"
"Clatter…"
A loud noise erupted as countless strange creatures... skeletons with faint green lights in their eyes emerged.
Just as Hela was about to order an attack, a skeleton resembling a monkey suddenly charged wildly.
"Get out of here, you worthless creature!" Ego roared angrily, sending an energy tendril through it, disregarding that it was one of his sons.
The skeleton struggled before its body exploded violently.
"Boom..."
The tendrils were shattered...
Simultaneously, hordes of skeletons of various shapes and sizes went berserk. They charged at Ego with relentless fury, not requiring Hela's commands.
"Boom…"
The cave collapsed completely, with colossal monsters soaring into the sky, engaging in a frenzied battle with Ego to the point of mutual destruction...
Even the furious Ego was taken aback. The intensity of the grudge was staggering! Even a skeleton long dead was so driven by vengeance it fought Ego to the death without Hela's intervention?
...
In an instant, Thor arrived at the castle's balcony on Earth.
In New York, it was around 11 o'clock at night, and most Americans had gone to bed.
The streets of New York were less safe at night , where monsters and demons roamed after ten o'clock.
Thor sensed something with his divine power, then flashed into a room, where an enraged voice immediately erupted.
"How dare you enter my room without knocking?!"
The voice was filled with panic.
"This is my home, of course I can go wherever I want."
Thor's tone was nonchalant.
"What if I were in the shower or something?"
Gnashing of teeth.
"Don't worry, I used my divine power to check before entering!"
"Shameless..."
A few minutes later, Thor dragged the irate and reluctant Skye to the castle lawn and produced the Space Gem.
"A grand mission to save the galaxy. Do you want to join?"
"Do I have a choice?"
"Yes, you can either go on your own or be carried by me."
Skye: "…"
