Chapter 246

"Drax! Drax! Wake up, I have something important to tell you!"

"Huff…"

Drax, who had been sleeping deeply, awoke groggily. The first thing he saw was Mantis, who looked anxious.

He quickly became alert and checked his clothes.

Fortunately, nothing seemed out of place. He sighed with relief and said, "I'm sorry, I know you mean well, but we're really not suited for each other. You're just not my type..."

Mantis: "???"

"Ugh..."

He suddenly retched with a pained expression, causing the entire room to fill with an unpleasant odor.

"What's wrong with you?"

"Ugh... I was imagining being intimate with you, ugh..."

Drax wiped his mouth, looking frightened.

"That's not why I came to you. Actually, you're not my type at all!"

Mantis, no longer interested in arguing, looked both anxious and guilty: "I should have told you earlier—Ego has already achieved what he wanted. You're in danger now!"

...

Thor watched Ego emerge slowly.

"So, are you going to reveal your true self? Stop pretending?"

Ego shrugged nonchalantly.

But Thor could clearly sense the energy around them intensifying.

"I should be the one saying that," Thor retorted. "Yondu said he kept Quill around to help him steal things. It seems Yondu was, in fact, a good father."

Ego, unashamed, responded with sarcasm: "Good father? Hahaha, I thought you, as a god, would have a broader perspective. I didn't expect you to be so mortal, indulging in emotions only inferior beings have! I overestimated you!"

Thor scoffed; this old man was delusional.

It was bad enough he plotted to kill Star-Lord's mother. There are indeed people who commit such acts in their delusions of truth—perhaps he's a protagonist in a twisted tale. Some readers enjoy that sort of thing...

But finding pleasure in depriving others while reveling in one's own power is truly disgusting.

Thor wasn't interested in debating further and simply sneered: "Do you think that if I tell Quill the real reason behind his mother's death, he'll still recognize you as his father?"

Ego's expression shifted, then he regained his composure: "Even if you do, it won't matter. No one can resist the allure of divine power! Besides, you won't live to see that day!"

As soon as he finished speaking, countless energy tentacles surged toward Thor, binding him instantly. Ego roared, "You could have been a god, enjoying all the glory, but you chose to meddle in others' affairs! Now you can be a power source for me!"

He then boasted, "Yes, you're different from Quill. You're already a mature god with boundless divine power. Hahahaha..."

Thor's expression turned sour. Was everyone nowadays just a power bank to be used?

With a twist of his body, Thor tore through the energy tentacles effortlessly. A massive lightning bolt descended, and Thor's armor enveloped him. His hammer and Storm Axe appeared in his hands.

He struck Ego on the head, sending him flying. Thor leapt up, raised his battle axe, and cleaved the ground.

"Boom…"

A violent earthquake rippled across hundreds of miles. Massive rocks tumbled, and a powerful shockwave flattened everything in its wake.

"Click…Click…"

A deep chasm appeared in the ground, so dark that its depth was indiscernible.

"Hahaha, it's useless! You guessed right; my brain is hidden underground, but you lack the means to reach it!"

"Boom…"

The cracked ground began to heal rapidly.

"You wield one of the most powerful artifact and strength in the universe, but how many times can you unleash such an attack? This is my body. I can alter the terrain at will!"

As he spoke, several huge mountains seemed to split in half and crash down like meteorites towards Thor.

Ego was full of himself, but suddenly, he frowned and cursed: "Who do you think you are? Without me, you are nothing!"

As he was distracted, a flash of a sharp blade cut through...

...

The only person capable of enraging Ego was naturally his son, Star-Lord.

Moments earlier, Ego's other clone had been explaining his "great dream" to Star-Lord.

"Peter, I have found the purpose of my existence—to infuse my power into every planet I visit, making them grow and spread, until the entire universe becomes me!"

He reached out and touched Star-Lord's head. A faint blue light flashed in Star-Lord's eyes.

"But there's a problem—the power of one god is not enough to achieve this. At least two are needed. So, I attempted to merge with any race I encountered and create offspring, hoping to nurture a second god."

"I offered rewards and asked Yondu to bring those children here. Yet, none of them possessed divine genes. Until you came along, Peter, I was finally no longer alone!"

Star-Lord muttered, "What about... those before?"

Ego responded calmly, "Them? I was merciful and didn't allow them to suffer. They became part of me again."

Star-Lord felt a jolt of realization and a terrible premonition: "But, you said you loved my mother... Is that true, or was it just to produce offspring?"

"You mean this? Oh, it's a painful memory. Yes, I loved her. I visited her three times on Earth, each time more agonizing than the last. I knew that if I returned, I would never leave again. My great dream would end..."

Ego's eyes were filled with anguish. After a long pause, he said slowly, "So, I implanted a tumor in her head, and my heart died."

"What?!!"

The intense blue light in Star-Lord's eyes vanished instantly, replaced by a face twisted in fury.
